CHAPTER 1

Standing here in the middle of the kitchen preparing breakfast for my little siblings had me thinking of all the changes in my life. Every time i get comfortable with something a massive change occur to alter it. Like that time when i really wanted younger siblings and my parents said they didn't want any more kids immediately i got used to being an only child, boom my mom gets pregnant with twins. And that time in high school when i finally decided to go out with Brad after weeks of him asking me out, his old girlfriend move back to town and he leaves me for her. That really hurt me. This mostly happens and sometimes i get scared of feeling too comfortable with something.

My name is Elsa Fray and I am 19 years old. I should be thinking of college now and not how to pay the bills. Two years ago my parents died in a car crash. Living alone me and my eight year old twin siblings They also forgot to tell us they were broke. I had to drop out of school to take care of my siblings. They left us a little savings which is enough for my siblings' education.

"Wake up kids. Time for school" I knocked on their doors which was right next to each other. I go to the kitchen to get break fast ready. We were all ready to leave thirty minutes later. Their school bus came for them while I took the bus to the café where I worked.

"Good Elsa you're here. Clean the table." Ian said immediately I entered and then threw his rag at me. Ian and I have been best friends since I can remember. He has been with me through the thick and thorn. He is the only person i got comfortable with and that didn't change. He is a constant in my life.

"Good morning to you too. I am doing great thanks for asking" I said sarcastically and place my bag in the employees locker. " Why do I have to clean the tables? You were doing fine"

" Then you came and since I am your boss. You get to do it without complaint" He patted my hair and smiled at me. I pushed his hand away.

"Sometimes I hate that you are the boss. You always pulled that card on me." I started to bus the tables while Ian sits on one of the tools and watch me. Talk of lazy bosses. Ian's grandmother owns this café. It has been in their family for years and their cakes are to die for. His parents wanted him to be an engineer and he wanted to be a chef so when he turned 18 he moved in with his grandmother.

" Oh please you love that I am your boss. You will never meet a charming and handsome boss like me" he said arrogantly.

"If you are done complimenting yourself go get ready. We are going to have customers coming in soon."  He just picked up his chef hat which he enjoys wearing, I have no idea why, and went into the kitchen. People started flooding in a few minutes later. Its amazing how many customers we have a day. The customers are great like all the time.

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" I heard one of the customers scream at Linda, one of the waitress. O.k so the customers are great most of the times.

"I am really sorry sir. I didn't mean to do that!" Linda started panicking and placed the half empty cup of coffee on the table while she tried cleaning the coffee stain from the guy's shirt.

"Sorry?" he scoffed. " You ruined my shirt. Clumsy people like you shouldn't be allowed to do jobs like this. You shouldn't even be allowed near people." he kept ranting and Linda looked like she was about to cry.

"Gosh she said she was sorry no need to be such a jerk about this" I need even know I said that till he turned to look at me and I found myself by the table.

"What did you just say?" he asked with an amazed look. Like no one has ever said those words to him before probably not.

"I said no need to be a jerk about this. It was an accident and she apologized."

"Do you know who I am or even how much this shirt cost."

"That's it. I don't know and I don't care. But if you come here you will treat everyone with respect."

"Like that's ever going to happen. You are just like her. good for nothing." I dropped the napkin and turned to leave.

He did not just say that. I wanted to let this go. I really did but then I knew if I let him leave it would haunt me for the rest of my life. For letting him have the last word and saying that and going scot free.

"No. I am not like her. You see I wouldn't have missed this spot right here." I poured the remaining coffee onto his shirt, I mean the clean part of his shirt.

"Thanks for coming to Rosa's café and please don't come again." I said in a sweet voice and left him standing there with a look of surprise. Even though I might end up cleaning the coffee stain on the floor the look on his face was totally worth it.

The rest of my shift went on with no more drama. I checked out at 1:30 and got ready for my second job which was as a maid in some rich folks house. Even though my boss' wife despise me for reasons unknown to me, the boss was good to me and offered me this job. It pays really good too. I just have to stay there for six hours every day except Sunday and help the other stay in maids when they needed it. Ian picks up the kids from school and since we live in the same apartment building, babysits them till I get back. I heard from one of the maids that the boss' son comes in today from college.

I went through the back door to the maids quarters and it seemed awfully quite. I entered the kitchen and saw Maria the old maid that has been working here for years she practically grew up here.

"Hey Maria where's everyone.?" I greeted her.

"Hello Elsa. They've all been summoned to the living room by the madame. You should probably go there too." she suggested with a smile.

"yeah." I had already changed into my uniform at the café since I was late. I wonder what all of this is about. " Maria is their son in?"

"Yes the young master arrived a few hours ago. He seemed to be in a bad mood though. I wonder what happened to him." I just nodded and rush to the living room before Antoinette, the boss' wife, found more reasons to shout at me. All the maid were standing in a line before her and she was saying something to them. I hurried to join the last person.

"Elsa so nice of you to join us." she said with a big fake smile on her face.

"Uh sorry mam. Traffic"

"Whatever. As I was saying. I would like you all to meet my son, Collins." she pointed to someone behind her. I didn't even notice before. I raised my head to look at him and I got the shock of my life because standing in front of me with his hands in his pocket and his gaze already on me was the jerk from the café. I know they say its a small world but the world cant be that small. He had a smirk on his face. Right then I knew my life was over.

"Some of you may have met him already while most of you haven't. I called you all here because I wanted him to pick two people out of you all who will be his personal maids. You job will be to attend to him whenever he needs it. So son," Antoinette turned to face him. "You can pick any two."

'Please don't me ,please don't picked me' I chanted in my head with my fingers crossed.

"I pick Elsa" he finally said. Who am I kidding of course he would pick me.

"Son Elsa works here part time. I think its probably best to choose a stay in maid." his mother tried to reason with him. I knew it was because she didn't like me near her son but I'm not complaining.

"You said any two mother. my decision is final."

"Alright then Elsa and Julia. The two of you will attend to my son. You are all dismissed" She says to us and walks away. I turn around really fast to leave.

"Wait behind Elsa" I heard him command. I was praying for some miracle to happen and that he wouldn't remember but who was I kidding we just met like four  hours ago.

"OK Collins. I know we started off on the wrong foot but can we put what happened behind and start all over" I said in my most optimistic voice.

"First of all you will address me as sir and no I cannot put what happened behind me."

Great just Great.
