Chapter 8

Katsuki's POV

Saturday rolled around.

The week honestly hasn't been that bad.

Eiji and I continued to pick Midoriya up at his room every morning for breakfast and I continued to make both of them food.

We did mostly book work for the remainder of the week in school, which was boring, but it helped prepare us for the test on Wednesday next week.

Midoriya's stuttering has gotten better around us too.

I noticed it's all on comfort level for him. He can talk pretty normally to icyhot and pink cheeks, but struggles a little more when it comes to others.

I kinda thought he just always stuttered, but I was wrong. I guess it is mostly my fault on why he stutters in the first place anyway.

"Hey, Kat?" Eiji pulled me from my thoughts.

"Yeah?" I asked as I pulled him closer to me.

We were laying down in his bed. We only woke up not that long ago and neither of us really wanted to get up.

"How do you feel about Midoriya?"

I shifted so I was looking at him from above.

"What do you mean? If you still think I hate him, then I promise you I don't."

"No, no. I know that, but I meant. Since becoming friends with him again, how do you feel about him?"

His question rather confused me. The answer I tried to look for also had me lost.

"I'm not sure." I said hesitantly. "I think I consider him a friend, but the term doesn't quite seem right, ya know?"

Eiji nodded. "That's how I feel. I don't know. It's weird around Midoriya, but it also feels right. It's really conflicting me." He explained.

I kissed him on the lips lightly. "Let's give it some time. Maybe we'll figure it out in the future."

"Yeah. We've got to meet him in about thirty minutes. We should get ready." He said.

I nodded and the two of us got up and got ready.

Eiji wore a pair of dark blue skinny jeans with a red and black checkered buttoned up shirt, a few buttons on the top were undone to show his white tank top underneath and then he had a pair of black and red high tops.

I wore a black tank top with a white skull on it with a pair of black skinny jeans and a chain hanging from the belt. It was matched with a pair of white converse and a black leather jacket that I just hung over my shoulder for the time being.

"Ready?" I called to my boyfriend.

"Yeah. Have you seen my wallet?" He asked me, pulling the sheets on the bed apart.

"In the drawer of the night stand." I replied without really thinking much on it. Eiji loses everything so I kinda made a habit of always knowing where his stuff is.

He grabbed his wallet and stuck it in his back pocket before the two of us left for Deku's room.

Once there, Eiji knocked and the door instantly swung open.

Midoriya stood there in a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a big green hoodie, with his iconic red shoes.

I swear those are the only things he owns. Hoodies and those damn shoes.

He smiled brightly at the two of us. "Hey!" He waved.

"Hey, Midoriya! Ready to go?" Eiji asked.

"Y-Yeah!" He said before locking his dorm room up.

The three of us made it to the common area.

Most of the class was in there, chilling and having a great time.

"Hey Deku! Come join us! We're playing some new Wii game that came out!" Pink cheeks called as we tried to make it out the door.

"Sorry! I can't. I'm heading out with Kirishima and Kacchan. I'll be back later though!" He shouted over to his friends. Pink cheeks gave him a bright smile and nod before turning back to the game.

The three of us continued on our way out.

We took the bus to get to the mall, which was only a ten minute ride, and then entered the grand mall right before us.

"What should we do first?" Eiji asked.

"We should get food. None of us ate breakfast." I responded.

Eiji agreed and we walked the short distance to the food court. Eiji got a smoothie, rice, eggs and some cooked fish, and I got rice, eggs, miso soup, and black coffee.

The three of us sat down at a table next to a mini water fountain inside the food court that had some pretty plants and flowers surrounding it.

"Midoriya, aren't you going to eat?" Eiji asked. I lifted my head up to look at Deku and noticed nothing was in front of him.

"No, I'm ok. I'm not hungry."

"Not hungry my ass. It's the first meal of the day. Here, ya damn nerd." I told him and pushed the last half of my rice to him, Eiji followed pursuit and gave him a good amount of cut up pieces of his fish.

"No! Guys! I can't take your f-food. Really, I'm not h-hungry. You guys just eat." He tried to push the food back to us.

"Eat the damn food before I shove it down your throat." I said simply while finishing my soup.

"It's alright, Midoriya. There's plenty to go around. Please eat it. I don't want you getting sick, you need your strength. You're practically skin and bones." Eiji explained a lot better than I did.

Midoriya sighed before picking up some chopsticks and digging into the food. "Thank you." He told the two of us.

Eiji smiled brightly. "You're welcome!" He said, while I just gave him a nod.

Once we were all done, we threw away the empty plastic containers and began looking at all of the shops.

Most of the places here sold clothes, but there were a couple of interesting stores we found too. One was full of fantasy nick nacks like fairies, mermaids, dragons, and other stuff. Another was full of shoes and accessories. There even was some salon ones where people got their hair dyed or cut.

Nothing seemed to really interest us yet, though.

"All Might!" Midoriya screamed all of a sudden.

Eiji and I's heads whipped to watch Midoriya running up to the glass of a store full of hero merch. Through the glass you could see All Might figurines, posters, and pins.

"Want to go inside, Midoriya?" Eiji asked the boy who's eyes were wide and his mouth hung open slightly.

He only nodded before darting into the store.

Eijiro laughed while I smiled slightly and followed the fan boy inside the store.

I don't think Deku will ever change. He's still obsessed with All Might and heroes just as much as when we were younger.

You could see the twinkle in Midoriya's eyes as he picked up one of the limited edition figurines that I'm thinking he doesn't have yet.

His face instantly lit up, and I hate to say, this is the most I've seen him excited in a long time.

"Whoa! This one just came out last month! I thought they all sold out, but here's one right now before me!" Midoriya jumped slightly from excitement.

"Well get it. You deserve to treat yourself Midoriya." I said quietly.

Midoriya looked up at me and I watched as his face fell. "No, it's ok. I have a lot of figurines, I don't need more." He said, sounding completely crushed, a small frown gazing at his lips while he stared at the figurine before putting it back.

I looked over at Eiji to see if he also noticed the mood shift in Midoriya.

"Midoriya, is everything ok? Why don't you want it?" Eiji asked, laying his hand gently on Midoriya's shoulder.

"Y-Yeah! Of course, I just don't have the m-money for it."

Doesn't have the money? I get he's not rich and everything, but this figurine honestly barely costs anything and I know for a fact Midoriya saves up money for occasions like this.

He normally would never pass up a deal like this.

"Well, then I'll get it." I said, grabbing the figurine and walking to the check out counter.

"Wait! No, Kacchan! I can't ask that of you." Midoriya complained.

"Well good thing you're not asking." I remarked.

I paid the man for the figurine and he put it in a bag and handed it to me.

Then, I passed the bag to Midoriya for him to have.

Midoriya's face instantly turned red and a large smile grazed his lips. He pulled me into a bone crushing hug.

Eiji came over and hugged the two of us as well. Him giving me an approving smile.

However, even in this sweet moment, I couldn't help letting my mind wander.

Not buying himself food and not getting himself something that he loves. Midoriya's hiding something and I fear what it is.

A thought passed my head. I know I asked him this when his mother first passed away, but I also know his father can be an alcoholic and struggles with keeping a job.

I wonder if Midoriya has been giving all of his money that he works so hard to get to his dad.

I wouldn't put it past either of them. His dad is a prick and Midoriya would do anything to help everyone.

The bruises.

Shit, why didn't I think of this before? Why am I just now putting two and two together?

"Midoriya?" I asked, pulling away from the hug. He looked up at me with innocent eyes, filled with happiness. "Those bruises we found. Did-" I hesitated. "Did your dad give them to you?"

Midoriya's face dropped instantly for only a moment before it was back to his bright smile. "No Kacchan. I promise he's not. It really was just some kids. Dad would never hurt me like that."

He did once.
Is all I could really think about as a reply.

I don't know if I fully believed Midoriya, but I didn't exactly have a lot of proof that Midoriya's dad really did do this to him either.

"Alright, fine. I'll take your word for it, but if he is hurting you, I'll kill him."

Midoriya laughed lightly. "I know."
