Chapter 19

Kirishima's POV

Aizawa stuck to his words and got Midoriya to work with Kat and I, along with Kaminari, Todoroki,  and Uraraka since they were already partnered with him.

I could tell Midoriya was not happy with Aizawa's decision, but didn't fight on it since it was his teacher telling him what to do. However, he did ignore us the entire time we trained, only really communicating with us if he really needed to. He kept his distance from us as well, proving he truly doesn't want anything to do with us.

I wasn't able to stay concentrated the entire training session. I kept glancing back at Midoriya and I was just so distracted with everything going on with the three of us that my focus couldn't stay in one place.

Several hours had passed like this. Even during our breaks we couldn't get Midoriya to speak to us and honestly I feel like crying.

Does he really hate us that much now? Do we really mean nothing to him anymore that he would give us this cold shoulder? I have never seen Midoriya do this to anyone, not even in the time before him and Kat made up. Does this mean he'd rather go on with his life without us in it?

Kat looked at me during one of our thirty minute breaks before our next training sequence and frowned. "I know that look. Eijiro, don't get discouraged. He'll come around." Katsuki tried to comfort me.

A tear slipped past my eye and down my cheek. "No he won't. I mean, just look at him. He hates us and I hate this! I hate that he won't look at us or even talk to us. I can't keep doing this if he's just going to resent us more!" I shouted a little bit too loud. I gripped my hair in my hands and leaned forward on the bench we were sitting on.

"Eijiro. We've got this. Come on, where's my over joyful guy?"

"I don't know at this point." I responded to him in a whisper.

"That's not true. He's sitting right in front of me and I know you're really down about this, but the Eiji I know would never back down from a challenge." He slung his arm over me and rested his forehead against mine.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in.

He's right. Sitting here crying won't solve anything. I need to fight harder.

Just as I finally had built my confidence up again to face Midoriya, the wall on the other side of the arena crashed open. A now gaping whole stood large enough to allow several people to enter. The LOV.

"Shit. You've got to be kidding me." Katsuki fumed.

I intertwined Kat's hand with mine. There's no way he's leaving my sight this time. "I called it." I commented.

Kat scoffed.

"What is your obsession with my class? Seriously, can we not go through one training process without you scum?" Aizawa confronted the LOV shielding his students from them along with Present Mic and All Might, though he couldn't really do anything.

"What did you just call us, old man?" Shigaraki questioned.

Aizawa rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "I suggest you leave. I've already notified the hero's"

What? When did he do that? They must have some new process in order. Makes sense after everything that's happened.

"Hand over the brat and we'll leave." Another voice spoke, but it wasn't one I recognized. It was a tall man in a black outfit, his face covered by a mask that was a mixture of bright red and black. We could see his chin, but that was about it. The man also had what looked like black hair that laid messily on his head. He seemed a little thin, but I couldn't really tell under the costume.

I feared that they had meant Katsuki, so I gripped his hand tight and stood slightly in front of him.

"We won't let you take him. Not again." Aizawa snarled.

"Again? Who are we talking about in this scenario?" The man asked, seemingly stumped for a moment.

The teachers seemed to freeze in confusion for a minute. Even us students assumed they were after Katsuki, but if they're not after him, then who are they after?

"Who are you looking for?" Present Mic asked.

"Let's make a deal and maybe I'll tell you."

"We don't make deals with criminals." All Might commented.

The man in black shrugged. "Suit yourself."

Dabi, who stood in the background, stepped forward and used his quirk to spread a wild fire in several different directions. Kat and I had to move away to avoid the flames. I watched Todoroki, from the corner of my eye, put some of the fires out with his ice.

Toga then darted forward and started slashing at students, left and right, catching Momo off guard and cutting her arm open, blood flowing down onto the ground. The teachers tried to help their students, but Twice used clones of Shigaraki to block them off.

The other villains launched into battle as well, targeting after the students.

The Real Shigaraki, Dabi, Kurogiri, and the man in black walked passed the chaos of a battle and came directly towards us.

I activated my quirk and stood guard before my group.

If they're not after Kat, but they're coming towards us, then it's someone in our group they're after. Which means they're either after me, Midoriya,  Todoroki, Uraraka, or Kaminari.

Dabi launched another stream of fire and the group had to dodge before Todoroki froze the flames, creating an icy path.

"You're getting on my nerves, kid." Dabi muttered to Todoroki. The two seemed to break off and duel one another.

"Hiding behind your friends. That's all you've ever been good for. Can't even stand up and fight." The man in black said, but we didn't know who he was saying it to.

"Just who the hell do you think you are?!" Katsuki shouted.

"Your worst nightmare." Shigaraki responded, lunging at Kat and I. My quirk is useless against his so I had no choice but to dodge him, pulling Kat along with me. Shigaraki darted at us again and came only a centimeter close to touching me with his hand.

"Who are you after?" I asked.

"Take a guess." Shigaraki responded, running at us again. This time he came in between Kat and I and I had no choice but to let go of Kat's hand.

I turned to look behind me and found Uraraka on the ground with what looked like burn marks on her arms. Todoroki seemed to guard her from the other villains as she recovered. Kaminari and Midoriya faced the man in black.

That narrows it down. He's after Midoriya or Kaminari.

Out of the two, the likely is Midoriya. No offense to Kaminari, it's just with Midoriya's quirk, and his knack for interfering, it makes sense.

I turned back to see Katsuki fighting one on one against Shigaraki. This is gonna bring back some serious nightmares for him.

The only real dilemma going through my mind right now is who I should help. I know they're not after Kat and I know he is more than capable being on his own, but I still worry what this fight might do to him. He might not have his full concentration. On the other hand, there's Midoriya. Sure, he's capable of fighting off a villain, but they're targeting him specifically. Not to mention, Midoriya hasn't exactly been in a good mindset as of late. On top of that, the villain he is fighting we've never seen before.

Who is this guy? What does he want and why is he with the League of Villains? Something tells me it's not because he follows the same Stain ideology as the majority of the League does. So, then what's his end goal?

"What are you gonna do now, blasty boy?" I turned my attention back to Katsuki and saw that Shigaraki had him pinned, his hand on Kat's neck.

I'm sorry Midoriya, but Katsuki needs me right now. After we deal with him, we'll come help you.

I rushed over to Shigaraki from behind so he couldn't see me coming, but right before I could land a punch on him, he turned and saw me approaching.

"Don't come any closer." Shigaraki threatened.

I froze in my tracks, not really sure what to do. "Let him go."

"No. This boy made a fool of me. It's only right that I get my revenge." He smiled menacingly, threatening to kill Katsuki with a single finger. "Now, unless you want me to kill him. I suggest you surrender and hand over the boy."

"Why do you want Midoriya?"

Katsuki's eyes widened at my words. He realized why the League was here now. They're after Midoriya.

"That boy's been on my nerves since the first day I met him, but also we gained a new recruit that has quite the hatred for him. I wouldn't be surprised if his hatred ran deep enough to torture the boy ruthlessly before killing him."

"What the hell." Katsuki grew red in the face with anger. He quickly whipped around and blasted Shigaraki across the room. He hit the wall and fell to the floor. "Like hell I'll let you even touch Midoriya you bastard!" Kat shouted.

Shigaraki laughed. "Are you sure about that?"

He pointed behind us and we found Midoriya laying on the ground, his body littered with burn marks.

It would seem the man in black has some sort of fire quirk. It only made sense with the extensive burns on Midoriya's body.

He was still conscience, but he looked horrified. Whatever that villain had done to him, it wasn't good.

Katsuki used his quirk to launch himself forward towards Midoriya. I was quick behind.

Kaminari stood a few feet away from the scene. "Kaminari! What happened?" I asked when I got close to him.

"I'm not sure. They were fighting, but then the guy whispered something to Midoriya and he crashed to the floor. He's been staring at the floor terrified for the last five minutes." That's odd. What could the man have possibly said to Midoriya that would cause this reaction? Does Midoriya know him?

"Go make sure Shigaraki doesn't get anywhere. Katsuki and I will handle this." I told him.

He nodded his head and went over to where Shigaraki laid on the floor.

Katsuki punched the man in black square on his face and it launched him to the side, landing on the floor with a thud.

I ran over to Midoriya while the man seemed distracted by Kat. "Midoriya? Are you ok? What happened?"

"No. No, it wasn't my fault. It's not. I can't-" He seemed to be muttering to himself in a very low voice. It was hard just to make out some of the things he was saying.

"Izuku? Please. Can you hear me?" I laid my hand gently on his shoulder.

"No! Don't touch me!" He shouted, pulling away from me immediately.

"Izuku." I muttered, misery from his reaction warped my brain.

"I-I'm sorry! It's all my fault! I-I'm a m-monster!" He cried out.

My eyes bulged from his words. "No, Izuku. No you're not. You're not a monster. You're strong and beautiful and such a kind person. Whatever you think is your fault, it's not. Please listen to me." I begged, tears running down my cheeks.

"B-But it is my fault. All of it." He froze, looking around him. I'm going to assume he just realized where he was and looked up at me with bloodshot eyes. "Kiri, h-help me. Please."

"Come here." I opened my arms as an invitation for a comforting hug. Usually I would've just hugged him immediately, but watching his reaction the last time I tried touching him, made me think differently about it this time. This way he can choose to accept the hug or not. It will be his call.

Midoriya jumped into my arms and wrapped his arms around me before burying his head in my chest. "I-I'm sorry!" He cried.

I rubbed comforting circles on his back and whispered sweet words in his ear. "You have no reason to apologize. It's alright."

A loud explosion triggered us to pull away. Katuski was just thrown to the wall by the man in black, a trail of fire leaving his lips.

Fire breathing? Is that his quirk or something?

Midoriya and I got on our feet quickly and rushed to Katsuki's aid.

"Kacchan! Are you ok?" Midoriya asked concerned, tears still running down his cheeks.

Katsuki groaned. "I'm fine, you damn nerd." He replied.

"Izuku. Who gave you permission to move? I know it wasn't me." The man said coldly to Midoriya.

Midoriya seemed to shrink back in fear, lowering his head slightly.

Midoriya never backs down from a fight, especially one with a villain, but this man has him cowering like a little kid.

"I guess it couldn't be helped. It seems you need a better motivator for listening to my every command. How about I kill these friends of yours?" He pointed to Katsuki and I.

Midoriya's head whipped up to face the man. A pleading expression on his face. "No. Please. They have nothing to do with this."

"I guess you should've made the right call and came with us. Now your friends will have to pay for your mistakes." He fired his quirk, shooting flames out of his mouth directly at Kat and I.

We didn't have time to move, especially with Kat still down. We were gonna be hit.

"No!" I heard Midoriya shout and all of a sudden the wind got knocked out of me. Midoriya had activated his quirk in his legs and pushed Kat and I both out of the way.

Midoriya screamed in pain as the flames ingulfed him instead of us.

"Deku!" Kat shouted. "You bastard!" He stood up and shot at the man. "Go rot in hell!" He screamed, blasting the man away from us, hard.

I ran to Midoriya to check on him. He was out cold, but alive. The pain must've driven him unconscious. His body had third degree burns in several places and parts of his clothes were scorched and falling apart.

Just then, our luck seemed to take a turn. Other pro heroes from the agency arrived and started driving the villains back with force.

"We need to get out of here! Kurogiri!" I heard Shigaraki's voice and Kurogiri opened a portal. The majority of the villains got away, including the man in black that seemed to have a malicious smile aimed at Midoriya as he left.

This isn't over. Not for him at least. He'll be back for Midoriya. I just know it.
