Tord looked like he had something to say. Edd knew it. Tord looked at Edd, possibly looking for the right time to say something?
"Tord what's-" Edd was cut off by Matt coming into the living room. He was smiling.
"Guys we should do something today. All we ever do is stay at home." Matt said, walking over and leaning on the back of the couch. Edd nodded. Tord seemed too lost in thought to notice Matt was even there.
"We could go to the mall? Maybe just waste a few hours there." Edd said, shrugging. Matt nodded. What a good plan! Matt started walking back down the hallway, to Tom's room. He knocked, before going in.
"Tom, we're going to the mall soon!" Matt said, cheerfully. Tom was snuggled up in his blanket, only some of his hair visible.
"I don't want to go.. I'm tired." Tom complained. Matt frowned. Tom noticed his silence, and looked up at him. Matt noticed how bad Tom looked. He had bags under his eyes, and his hair was a mess. It looked like he had been crying a while ago. Matt hesitated, before nodding.
"..Alright. I'll let you stay home, but you have to rest, and take care of yourself." Matt said, smiling. He walked out of the room, and shut the door. Matt walked into his room. He looked around, for a certain object. Finally, after looking for a while, he found it. His pocket knife. He slid it in his pocket, and went back into the living room.
Edd and Tord looked like they were ready to go, standing by the door. Matt smiled.
"Tom, we're leaving!" Matt called. He didn't get a response, so he assumed Tom had fallen asleep. Edd, Matt, and Tord, left closing the door loudly behind them.
As soon as Tom closed the door, he threw his blanket off of him, and walked to his closet. A while ago, he had bought something. Just in case things got too bad. And guess what? Things were bad. Very bad. Tom looked happier to everyone else, but Tom wasn't. Tom still cut, he just moved his cutting area. He used to cut his wrists, but now, he cut his thighs. Less visible.
Tom opened the closet door, and pulled out a rope, already tied into a noose. He had thought about doing this several times before. Tom stood up on a chair in his room, and tied the end of the noose to the ceiling fan.
Tom slid the rope around his neck, tightening it. Tom kicked the stool. He felt the rope tighten, cutting off his air. He gasped, due to instinct. He saw spots. Tom's brain was freaking out, he was clawing at the rope, but it did nothing. Tom saw black.
Matt quietly went back into the house. He had left his wallet. Where was it? 'Oh, it must be in Tom's room.' Matt thought, tip-toeing to Tom's room. He quietly opened the door. He saw Tom, hanging from the ceiling. He screamed, and pulled out his pocket knife. Hopefully he wasn't too late. Please don't be too late. Tom fell to the floor with a dull thump.
Matt loosened the rope, and put his head to Tom's chest.
thump.
thump.
He was alive! Yes! Matt cried tears of joy that his best friend was alive. He held Tom close to his chest, as he pulled out his phone. He sent a quick text to Edd and Tord, that they would not be going after all.
Matt was so glad he decided to grab his pocketknife. Call it fate, but Matt thought Tom wasn't supposed to die today. Matt, still in tears, and slight shock, called the police, and a paramedic.
They got to the house quickly, coming in, and finding Matt, holding an unconscious Tom. They checked Tom's vitals. His heart rate was extremely slow, and he was close to death, but Matt had come in, just in time to save the poor boy.
The paramedics strapped Tom down onto the stretcher, and put him in the ambulance. Matt was still crying. He notified Edd and Tord that he was en route to the hospital, and asked them to please meet him there.
Matt had things to think about
