"What the hell happened?" Seonghwa asked once San stepped inside the office in the back.
Wooyoung had been placed on the couch and looked to be comfortable. For now. Yeosang was sitting next to him on the floor.
"I don't even know where to begin." San said. His vision got blurry as he tried to focus and get his thoughts straight.
Thankfully Yeosang was able to start the story, and once he did, San was able to fill in any holes.
They started with the press premier and how Wooyoung had disappeared that night, only to have him call Yeosang in the morning and reveal what had happened with Rachel. That right there pissed Seonghwa off enough that he had to leave the office and and they heard several smashing plates in the kitchen.
When the older came back, he sat down in his chair and asked them to continue. He managed to stay calm while the couple recounted their trip to the police office, Roger coming in to help, and what Wooyoung had been up to over the last week.
They also told him about what was going on with Lila and how she had been away during all of this. Seonghwa's hard expression immediately crumbled when they got into her father passing away hours before the interview...
Guilt weighted heavily on all of their shoulders.
The timing of all this was just too perfect...
San looked down at his phone again and once more tried calling Lila.
Still no answer...
While Seonghwa got up and started to pace, he looked up the area around the hospital. There was only one hotel nearby. He quickly dialed it and asked for room 219.
Once again the phone just rang and rang.
"So what's the plan now?" Seonghwa asked, sitting down and running a hand through his hair.
"I don't know..." San looked at the floor. He felt so lost right now, he couldn't even imagine what Wooyoung would feel when he woke up... "I think... All we can do right now is wait for Roger to call us. He was running interference back at the interview."
"Well you can stay here as long as you want. Wooyoung can even come stay with me for a bit if it comes to that. What are we going to do about Lila?"
San took a deep breath, then pulled out his phone again. "I'm going to fly out there."
"What?" Yeosang said from where he was still sitting by Wooyoung. "You can't go just like that!"
"Yes I can. We were technically free after this interview anyway. If she saw that... Even if that psycho is there... I-" San gripped his phone until his knuckles were white. "H-He doesn't know about her past... If he leaves her alone f-for just a minute..."
He shook his head to dismiss those thoughts and quickly looked for the next flight. There was one that flew to a small airport right outside of Cheyenne, that would be perfect. It would only be another hour or so to their hometown.
San booked the flight and went to Yeosang's side. "Please don't be angry with me."
The older cupped the back of his head and pressed their foreheads together. "Never. Just be safe please." He tilted his head up and brought their lips together.
San felt himself flush immediately, as he always did whenever he and Yeosang kissed. "Always. I'll bring her home." He promised. "Thanks for your help Seonghwa."
The oldest nodded once. "Be careful."
At those parting words, San ran from the diner and waved down another cab. "Airport please! As quickly as you can."

Lila's hand trembled as she brought the razor closer to her skin. As much as she wanted that release, something deep inside her was fighting it.
She screamed in frustration and slammed her hand against the side of the counter.
"WHY?!"
The hotel door flew open and Nate dropped the bags in his hand of the floor. "Lila!" He ran to her side and ripped the razor from her hand.
"No! Give it back!" She screamed, clawing at his arm. "Please!"
"Lila, what the hell is going on?" Nate said, his voice getting harsh as he pinned her to his side.
She cried out and tried to break free, but even her arms were trapped as he reached behind him to toss the razor in the sink and out of her reach. "G-Give it back! Let go of me!"
"Lila, calm down honey." Nate shifted her around so she was sitting with her back to his chest and he crossed her arms. Then he he pinned her using his own arms and started shushing her.
Lila screamed again, trying to break away. He had ruined everything. This was all his fault. She didn't want to feel anymore... It hurt too much.
The phone ran in the other room, but neither of them moved to answer it.
Nate just held her close to him while she calmed down on her own.
"It's over..." She whimpered, hanging her head.
"What is?" He asked gently, still not loosening his grip.
"Everything... I don't... I d-don't have anyth-thing..." The tears came in full force now.
Nate hesitated, then placed his head on her shoulder and leaned his head against hers. "Is this about your dad?"
Lila just whimpered and shook her head. "He ch-ch-cheated... And, and, and San kn-knew..." She let out a strangled cry as her head fell back and her heart shattered once again. Saying out loud had an entire different effect.
She could feel Nate tense behind her and a low growl even escaped his throat. "He's a fool then Lila. You deserve so much better than him. But he is not worth harming yourself over, do you hear me?"
His tone was harsh and demanding. It made Lila flinch, but she nodded her head too
The hotel phone rang again. This time Nate glanced in that direction. "It could be the doctor." He whispered.
Lila lifted her head up and felt her limbs turn to jelly. She didn't care anymore... All she wanted to do was sleep and never wake up. Never...
Nate shifted behind her and picked her up off the ground. He gently carried her to the bed and set her down. Keeping one hand on her the entire time, Nate picked up the phone. "Hello? Yes.... Yes.... Ok we will be right over." He said gently. "That was the doctor. Your mom has left and apparently there is a lawyer there that needs to speak to you."
He turned and ran his thumbs over Lila's cheeks to wipe the tears away. Then he helped her up, grabbed the room key and her purse, moved the food he had bought aside, and led her from the hotel.
The phone started ringing again as soon as the door closed.
Lila didn't register the drive back to the hospital at all. The next thing she knew, Hongjoong was standing in front of her and snapping his fingers gently.
"Lila. Lila, honey, come back to me."
She blinked several times and he reached out to cup her chin. There way pity in his eyes.
Nate placed a hand on her shoulder so his thumb rested on the back of her neck. The doctor's eyes flashed to him and narrowed just a bit, but he dropped his hand.
"Ms. James?" A man in a suit asked, walking forward.
Hongjoong stepped to the side and eyed them cautiously.
Lila just nodded.
"I am your mother's lawyer that she brought with her today. She was wanting to go over the details of your father's will. However, I am also his. I don't know if she knew or not, but regardless, I could not discuss the details with her. I can with you."
Lila tilted her head a little, most of her didn't care what the man had to say, but she was here...
He gestured to a small room off to the side and Lila followed him in.
They sat across from each other at a small table and the man started to pull out some files. "I'm sorry to do this so close to your father passing away, but it is urgent that we get everything signed an into your name to follow his wishes."
"I don't understand..." Lila's forehead creased as she watched him flip open the first file.
"Your father started a trust fund for you a long time ago and has been putting every spare cent into it."
"What?" Her head snapped up and her eyes widened. So her mother had been right... There was money tucked away.
"It is solely in your name now. Your mother has no access to it, as long as you sign the papers I have for you today." He slid the folder to her and spun it around. "I've marked all the places you need to sign."
Her eyes hurt as she tried to focus on the tiny writing. "What's the catch...?"
"No catch. Just a time limit. With accounts like this, I I don't get this submitted within 24 hours of the account holder's passing, it automatically goes to the next person in line, which is usually the spouse."
"Dad... Left me money?" Lila asked, as if it was just now sinking in.
"Yes. And a lot of it. He wanted to make sure you'd be taken care of for the rest of your life since he couldn't do it himself." The lawyer said with a kind smile.
Lila felt the tears coming back as she started to sign the paperwork. He walked her through it, explaining anything that she didn't understand.

San made to his gate with time to spare and spent the entire time switching between calling the hotel and Lila's phone.
He settled down in his seat and dialed her phone one more time.
"Stop calling." Nate growled on the other end.
"Where is Lila?" San asked, trying to keep the panic out of his voice. "Put her on the phone, I need to speak with her."
"Well she doesn't want to speak with you. Piss off San."
"Don't talk to me that way! You know NOTHING about Lila!" He shouted, not caring if the people around him were staring right now.
Nate laughed. "I'm not as dumb as you seem to think I am. I've known about her for a long time. I know that she's been hospitalized for a suicide attempt. I found her here, alone, at the hospital and was here to comfort her when her dad died. I know she was dating someone in secret, I have yet to find out who, but I will. And now I know that that person has cheated on her and completely destroyed her. And so have you San." His voice was an octave lower as he drove each word into San's heart like a stake.
"N-No. She needs to hear what actually happened." He pleaded.
"Not. A. Chance. She's mine now, just as it always should have been."
"You b-b-bastard! She isn't something to p-possess!"
Once again, Nate laughed. "I will be here for her to put the pieces back together. I will show her what it's like to be loved without worrying about being cheated on or lied to or deceived. ME. I have waited too long, and you are NOT going to ruin this for me now. Don't. Call. Her. She wants nothing to do with you. Goodbye, San."
The line went dead.
San covered his mouth as his hand shook and he sobbed. He could feel everyone's eyes on him as he stared at his phone. He tried dialing again, planning on giving Nate an earful, but he went straight to voice mail.
He tried three more times...
Nate had blocked his number...
San knew he needed to hurry.
He had to talk to Lila face to face. She needed to know everything that was going on...
And more than anything, she needed to get away from Nate.

When Lila finished signing everything, the lawyer handed her the information to the trust fund. She was still having a hard time processing the fact that she had so much money in her name... The number hadn't sunk in quite yet, so she knew she'd need to go back and look at it, but it was a lot.
They stepped out of the small room together and she looked up to see Nate leaning against the wall looking worried.
He stepped forward and cupped her cheek, offering a small smile. "Are you ok?"
"As ok as I can be." She answered, looking at the ground.
"I think we should get you home. You're going to come stay with me, ok?"
Lila felt her chest tighten at his words.
That's right... San... Had betrayed her... It's not like she could go back to his condo. She had no where else to go...
While the idea of suddenly moving in with Nate didn't sound like like the best idea, she was in no mindset to try and find her own place right now either.
So she nodded.
"Lila?" Hongjoong's voice came from beside her.
She turned to the doctor and gave him a small smile. "Thank you for everything you did for my father, Hongjoong. How can I repay you?"
"Just take care of yourself, ok? Please?" He whispered, pulling her into a hug.
Lila couldn't bring herself to answer. She didn't want to promise something she couldn't keep.
When they broke apart, the doctor gave her one more sad look and handed over her duffle bag before Nate wrapped an arm around her shoulder and took it. He led her back to the elevator and down to the car.
"I just need to get my things and look at plane tickets, then we can head home." He said, placing a hand on her leg as the drove.
Lila didn't respond as she stared out the window.
She had no home anymore...
