The Ultimate Tragedy
The remaining champions stood in awe at the epic battle between the gods which ended up cracking the earth and moon.
Little did anyone know...
This was not the end, only its beginning. The God of Choas plan B was set into motion.
(1 Year Later)
Thane awoke in his beloved Goddess's arms after falling asleep staring into her void eyes. Their relationship reveals to Azrei that she shared more similarities to her sister than she taught.
Azrei: Good morning.
She whispered lovingly to Thane who tightened his grip to press himself more against her cold body, which, under the warm blanket, was a divine pleasure.
But such a gift always comes at a cost.
(A few hours later)
Thane stood in front of the other Gods, who required of him a grand task.
Judor: As you know... We temporarily imprisoned Cardsha for execution.
Judor: Today is the day he is to be killed.
Thane: Alright... Why am I being told this?
Jorey: You are to be his executioner.
He tilted his head in confusion as the Gods presented the now-completed blade of chaos which glowed with the glorious radiance of all the gods' power.
(God Slayer; The Blade of Chaos)
Sciron: The Void couldn't hold him... And to prevent another incident, we have all voted on killing him.
Thane grabs the blade, not fully aware he has the power to kill the gods right now.
Thane:(waves blade) Huh... I'm still confused as to why you want me to do it.
Azrei: Your Void eyes allow you to perceive the threads of power that are our existence.
Azrei: You might be the only mortal capable of striking his heart and seeing if he truly died or not.
Cronas: And after a year, none of us can decide which one of us gets the honors. So we're forced to choose the only other capable of it to finally get it over with...
Thane: I see...
The Gods all then bestow some of their power onto Thane, enhancing his Blessing.
Thane:?
Azrei: In case of any tricks from the God of Chaos. Now go...
Thane: As you wish, my lady.
With everything prepared, Thane journeyed off to execute Cardsha. As he galloped across the land on his horse, Thane realized something.
He was going to kill a god.
Thane could not feel anxious, but he could ponder the idea.
The Gods treated this with a relaxed connotation. They gave him everything he needed and sent him on his way. It was a simple plan with little that could go wrong, yet this champion could tell something was off.
Then again, was it this mission or was it Cardsha himself that rubbed Thane the wrong way?
Was it worth pondering? Thane continued his bad habit of questioning everything, as he saw the cracked land, the damaged moon, and the people putting the pieces together with the old forgotten races. All because of Cardsha.
Thane: Hmm...
Once he arrived at a beach, Thane got off his steed and decayed his body to sink into the ocean. As he swam to an underwater cave where Cardsha was imprisoned, this Champion noticed the effect of the other gods adding to his blessing.
Like how Judor's threads were all around the other gods, the seven gods' power wrapped around him, thick and like chains.
Thane:(mind) The power of Seven Gods... Seven? No, Eight. Chaos is with me too.
Again, something within him cried that something was off. But his fearlessness made him continue without even trying to tell his Goddess of his feelings. Instead, he splashed water as he entered the cavern.
He did not attempt to be subtle.
Stomping into a large room where Cardsha lay chained on a stone slab.
Cardsha: I knew they would sense you.
He held a confident grin, not at being right, but at something Thane could not yet see.
Yet again, Thane had that odd feeling. But perhaps out of spite, he ignored it to instead focus on stabbing Cardsha.
Silently, he got atop Cardsha and raised the God-slayer blade.
Cardsha: One of two things will happen if you kill a God. You'll rid the world of chaos.
Thane raises the blade, prepared to dive it through Cardsha's heart.
Cardsha: Do you know what that means? No more kids like you... With a defective brain.
Cardsha: Perhaps no more fateful encounters...
Cardsha: Imagine a world... That's black and white... Like it or not, I give it color.
Thane's eyes become stained with the colors of the void. He can see the threads of Choas that makeup Cardsha's physical form. This is where this feeling of there being something wrong, reached its peak as Cardsha revealed the second option.
Cardsha: Or..... My domain will be inherited by one of the other gods if they successfully take it...
Thane:...
Thane: How do you know that? How do you know your power would go to someone else?
Cardsha: I'm a god. I know a lot of things.
Thane: You aren't all-knowing... And I don't believe there are more hidden gods.
Cardsha: Who can say if there aren't?
Thane: And another thing... You are the god of Chaos... Yet you made a plan?
Cardsha: The most unpredictable thing to do was make a plan.
Thane glared at Cardsha who didn't avert his gaze. The Champion of Death looked at the chaos blade in his hands, watching as it began to be stained with the void.
Thane: You want this...
(clang)
He tosses the chaos blade aside and backs away from Cardsha, carefully observing the whole cavern.
Thane: Why would you want this? Is it part of your plan? Or is it your backup plan?
His mind began working in overdrive trying to figure out Cardsha's plot, and as he followed his threads, and realized that the god before him was just a shell, bits of information began to surface.
"Cardsha was thrown into the void...."
"Not a single God expected him to be the cause of anything. Why?"
"Because It Is NOT POSSIBLE to escape the Void"
"And when Thane's vision sank into the void..."
"He saw something fly by"
"A bird?"
"A Shadow?"
"A Corpse"
"Of A God"
"Cardsha never escaped"
"The Gods are the ball of yarn where the universe gets its threads"
"If Cardsha died, and one of the gods took up his domain."
"They would know this strange fact that he spouted..."
"Who took the power?"
"Life is chaotic"
"Nature is chaotic"
"Is it Death?" "Is it Death?"
"Who would inherit a dead man's belongings?"
"The next-"
"Of Kin-"
Discovering a thread of chaos transitions into one of order, Thane swung around.
Thane: Judor!
He turns around to find the god of Order and Chaos leaning against a wall.
Judor: Well it took you long enough. I was beginning to think I'd have to kill you without leaving you to suffer.
Thane: So this was all part of your plan?
Judor: This right here is all part of my plan B. Plan A was to convince Azrei to join me but you put a wrench in that.
Thane: Why? Why did you do all this?
Judor: Why? Dead men shouldn't concern themselves over the matters of the living.
Judor: All you need to know... Is that you helped me truly complete the god-killing blade which I can now use on Azrei.
Thane: You'll have to go through-bleh!?!
Blood spews out of Thane's mouth, directing his attention to the blade of chaos which was through his heart.
Thane: How long-
Judor: Roughly a minute before this conversation started.
Judor: And there is no escaping this... Seven blessings on a blade to kill someone with seven blessings...
Thane: Seven...?
Judor: Heh.
The God of Law looms over the champion of death.
Judor: What's it like? Dying I mean... Are you finally afraid?
Thane: This isn't over...
Grabbing the blade, he twists it before pulling it out. Waltzing out of the cave, Judor slams his fist against the walls, causing it all to collapse atop Thane, who attempts to pray to Azrei to warn her, but the god steps ahead of him and prepares the area to deny any contact with the pantheon.
(CRASH)
Bolders crushed Thane and the water flooded in, adding more pressure.
To be continued....
