"Why do you want to go home? We haven't even been here an hour yet." Avi says.
"I'm just afraid Avery is gonna get hurt. She's already fell and could have hurt her arm." Tim says quietly, trying to keep their conversation private but Adam overhears them.
"Hey, Timmy?" Adam says reaching down patting him on the back. "Ya'll not leaving are you?"
"Uh, yea, I think so." Tim answers looking down at his daughter.
"Listen." Adam says stooping down beside Tim. "I know, without a doubt, that you love your daughter and that you want to protect her. There's a thing called being too over protective."
"But I don't want her to get hurt, Adam." Tim says as her rubs Avery on the head.
"I know that. A parent's worse fear is to see their child hurt. I know, I've been there. When Cerise was born, I was the same way." Adam smiles, looking down at his beautiful little girl. "But as hard as we try we can't protect them from every little bump or bruise that comes from growing up. Avery will start learning to walk before you know it. She's gonna fall. She will get bumps, she'll scrape her knees. That's all part of learning."
"I'm just trying to be a good Dad, Adam." Tim sighs as he brushes his hair back.
"And you're being a great dad. Avery loves you so much. She thinks her daddy walks on water." Adam smiles. "But sometimes all you need to do is kiss her boo boo and help her back up."
"I'm also scared. I'm so afraid that if the Adoption Agency sees a bruise on her, they'll take her away from me and Avi." Tim says, taking his husband by the hand.
"Guys." Adam says shaking his head. "These agencies knows the signs of child abuse. They also know that scraped knees and hands comes with learning to walk or ride a bike. You guys are great parents, just loosen your grip on her just a tiny bit. Let her have fun. She's already forgotten all about falling out of Austin's lap. Being a parent for the first time is scary. But it's a learning process. Ericha and I went through the same thing. You guys are going through it and Rob and Kel will go through it."
"I guess I am overreacting." Tim says.
"You're just trying too hard, Tim. Protect her, yeah, but don't smother her. You do that when she starts wanting to date." Adam laughs.
"Well, we still have about 30 years before we have to worry about that." Avi laughs.
"Now, some of the guys are wanting to play some baseball. So come on, ya'll stay and play some ball." Adam grins, patting Tim on the shoulder. "Kelsey will watch the girls."
"Come on, Baby. Let's go play ball." Avi pouts.
"You sure you're able to run." Tim ask with a smirk on his face.
"I think so." Avi blushes.
"I'm not even gonna ask." Adam laughs.
"And I'm not even gonna tell you either." Avi chuckles.
It had gotten really hot so Kelsey and Jenika blew up a kiddie pool, put a little bit of water in it and sat the girls in it.
(Yes, I am talking about the same Jenika that use to date Tim before he realized he was bisexual and met Avi. She is now dating a friend of the band, Adam Chance. Known as Chance by his friends.)
Cerise and Avery was having the time of their lives in the pool. Kelsey and a couple of the other girls that were there watched the babies. Jenika and Olena goes and joins the game.
Avi was picked as the pitcher of one team. He had played ball in college and was a very good pitcher. Tim was the catcher.
The other team, Austin was the pitcher and Adam was the catcher.
Rob volunteered as the home plate umpire.
They made sure that spouses and boyfriends/girlfriends were on the same teams so that no favoritism would be going on.
Avi, secretly, didn't like the idea that Jenika ended up on their team because Chance was. Olena was on the other team because Austin was. He just hope that her's and Chance's relationship was strong enough to keep her from flirting with his husband.
Turns out, she was a very good player and could run very fast. She laughed and talked to Tim but didn't seem to be flirting with him. So Avi was able to relax some.
The game went on for hours until it got so hot, they had to stop before someone passed out from the heat. The game was tied so both teams were declared the winner.
The day continues with a massive water balloon battle to help cool everyone down.
The day ends with everyone sitting around a campfire with their significant other. The babies were sound asleep in the play pen that Tim and Avi had brought.
Most of the people had already left. Only the band with their spouse/girlfriends and Chance and Jenika remain to enjoy the campfire. Idle conversation, story telling and singing.
Avi snuggles up to Tim, kissing him on the cheek causing him to smile as he stares into the fire.
"Aren't you glad we stayed?" Avi says softly.
Tim smiles and looks around at Avi, the reflection of the fire in his green eyes.
"I'm very glad we stayed." He says before leaning in, tenderly kissing his husband.
