36 | THE DAMN BELLS

"Cersei needs to be destroyed but if we attack King's Landing with Drogon, Rhaegal and the Unsullied, and the Dothraki, tens of thousands of innocents will die. That is why Cersei is bringing them into the Red Keep." Varys informed Reyanna.

Reyanna looked over at Tyrion with a smug look. "Seems to be that I know your sister better than you do." She snarked, then returned her attention to Varys.

"Your sister's mission was to protect these people. We mustn't destroy the city she planned to save." Varys emphasized the need for Reyanna to be cautious while riding Drogon into the city.

"She's using the people as her personal shield, knowing we don't have the heart to tear through them. Perhaps the people will revolt against her with a bit of pressure placed on them." Reyanna thought aloud.

"I say we attempt to negotiate with Cersei." Tyrion butt in.

"If that will better your rest at night, I will do so. Knowing her, she won't budge. Jon and the cavalry will be here within the fortnight. If we plan on seeing Cersei, we must do it today, else Jon will have me by the throat before he would let me speak to her." Reyanna expressed her urgency.

"Offer her her life in exchange for the throne." Tyrion specified the deal.

Reyanna suppressed her chuckle. "We will look like fools out there. But, if the people see we made attempts to negotiate, they will be less likely to resist us." Reyanna shrugged, then walked out of the meeting room to prepare herself to go to the capital.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at King's Landing, and it seemed to be that Cersei was well prepared for their arrival. The gates were sealed and she stood at the top of the wall, surrounded by massive crossbows engineered to slaughter dragons. Fortunately, Reyanna chose to leave the dragons behind for the visit in order to seem less intimidating. Reyanna took in the thought of Cersei's army's ability to annihilate one of the dragons and realized how much more tactical she had to be if she were to fly them into battle. She had been practicing riding them for a week, but, she feared it didn't compare to Sofina's years of practice and bonding with the dragons.

Surprisingly, Cersei came down from the top of the wall to personally greet her new enemy, Reyanna. Reyanna met her halfway from where the Unsullied stayed on guard and from the gate. "Reyanna Challinder." Cersei spoke in a nonchalant voice, eyeing her suspiciously up and down.

"M'lady." Reyanna bowed her head, a bit mockingly, at Cersei.

"No dragons today?" Cersei raised a curious brow at Reyanna. Cersei didn't like her right away, she seemed to be a little unpredictable. Cersei had been so focused on Sofina being the enemy, she didn't have time to analyze Reyanna.

"Didn't feel like it." Reyanna shrugged, smirking at her.

"I suppose I shall make my demands. I am here as a representative of my husband, King Aegon Targaryen, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. We offer your life in exchange for the Iron Throne, so that he may sit upon it rightfully so." Reyanna spoke quickly, knowing well enough that Cersei was not paying attention and already had her answer.

"Ah, you Challinders will always be Targaryen whores." Cersei shot her a toothless grin.

"Better than being my brother's whore." Reyanna sighed.

"What?" Cersei furrowed her brows at her, offended.

"Huh? Did someone say something?" Reyanna pretended as if she hadn't said anything at all.

"And your child? Did the birth go well? Aren't you simply in love with him or her? Oh, I do hope so, I want to know how much it hurts when I snap its little neck before you." Cersei told her.

Reyanna clenched her jaw, wanting so badly to unsheathe her sword and slit her throat right there. Cersei could talk all about Jon and her family, but the moment she threatened her children— which she was still unaware that they were twins— Reyanna began to seethe. It was officially war between the two. It was no longer impersonal. Reyanna wanted to rip her throat out with her own hands. She had slaughtered hundreds of beings and creatures, yet, somehow, in those few minutes of speaking with Cersei, Cersei became the one person she would receive the most pleasure from killing.

Reyanna abruptly spun on her heel and headed back to the lined up Unsullied. She walked straight through them, and without her having to cue them, they uniformly turned around and began marching beside her, protectively, back to Dragonstone.

When Jon finally arrived at Dragonstone, he instantly went to see Reyanna. "Rey," he sighed, embracing her tightly.

Reyanna accepted his hug, taking in his scent. She began to shake nervously. "She said she'd kill our child." Reyanna's voice trembled.

"She doesn't know there are two, so that means she doesn't know where either of them are or who they are with." Jon reassured her, caressing the back of her head.

"But she could find out." Reyanna sniffled, holding Jon closer to her chest.

"They are with the wet nurse, with guards around at all times. Sansa is there, too, and I doubt she has left their side this entire time." Jon hushed her, breaking the hug so that he could hold her face and look her in the eye.

Reyanna let a few angry tears trickle down her face. "I love you." Jon reminded her.

Reyanna reciprocated his love by placing a soft kiss on his lips. Jon gladly accepted the affection and then reached to untie the strings tying her clothes onto her body. Reyanna did the same for Jon until they were both nude. Jon grabbed Reyanna and led her to the bed. They made love to each other as if they hadn't seen each other in ages. It made Reyanna remember that she wasn't simply a warrior or a soldier. She was a woman. A woman that was sensual and loved by many. It made her feel human again.

Though the moment was touching, it wasn't enough to calm her rage against Cersei down. She still wanted to obliterate her.

The next morning, there was one final meeting before the attack on Cersei. "We must attack the city. We will never get to Cersei if we don't tear through the city. It is inevitable. It is certainly unfortunate, but these people aren't all innocent. They watched Ned Stark be decapitated by Joffrey and did nothing. They nearly raped Sansa when she was younger. Hell, I heard they even shamed Cersei as she walked through the streets nude. Our armies will not pillage or rape by any means, if they do, I will be sure of executing them myself. Children are innocent. Anyone harmed by the fire or crumbling buildings will be a mere casualty of war. Any purposeful intent of harming innocents will be seen as insubordinate and rebellious to the crown." Reyanna spoke aloud to the crowded meeting room with all the leaders of the different units of soldiers.

Low mumbled were sounded through the room. Many were hesitant to accept her order, especially since Jon was their true King. They all looked over to Jon for approval. "She is not wrong. She knew Cersei's plan to use the commoners as a personal shield before Cersei's enacted it. Queen Reyanna has proven herself time and time again that she is more than educated on the matters of war." Jon validated her words.

Nods and mutters of approvals finally echoed throughout the room.

That afternoon, Reyanna flew on Drogon with Rhaegal carefully trailing behind them to King's Landing. It was a fairly quiet flight until Reyanna spotted Euron's Iron Fleet surrounding the capital. Fortunately, she was above the clouds so he couldn't spot her just yet, but she flew down rapidly toward the ships and whispered "dracarys" to Drogon so that he'd be blazing dragon fire on the wooden ships below. In a swift flight over the ships, she took out a row of them. One of the dragon crossbows were shot in the air and nearly missed Reyanna and Drogon.

Rhaegal followed pursuit and began blowing fire down on the ships as well. Drogon efficiently took our dozens of ships without getting hit. Rhaegal paralleled his motions and cut their time in half of destroying the ships.

Once the ships were all destroyed, Reyanna flew in to King's Landing from behind. She had Drogon blast the gates of King's Landing from behind, taking the golden company aback as they were all facing the front awaiting her arrival. The Golden company was halved by just the fires of Drogon. Jon's army took advantage of their weakened state and charged in toward the capital, slaughtering the rest of the soldiers, then moved into the city.

Reyanna continued to fly over the city and set fire to the battle grounds. She wasn't very precise when telling Drogon to shoot fire, but she was precise enough to take out all of the enormous cross bows on the wall that were being pointed at her and Drogon. Rhaegal swooped in on the city and shot fire at the Lannister standing army within the walls of the capital.

Reyanna found a place on top of a building to land with Drogon and Rhaegal. Drogon let out a chilling screech that echoed throughout the chaotic city. Within minutes, the fighting stopped and bells of surrender were rung throughout the city. Reyanna sighed in relief that the people finally came to their senses. But, something about the chime of those bells set the dragons off. Drogon began to squeal and buck around until Reyanna fell off of him. Drogon let out an animalistic screech and Rhaegal answered with the same screech. Reyanna gasped and then the dragons took off to the sky with no guidance. They began to shoot fire all over the city, essentially turning it to ashes as they burned every corner of it.

Reyanna was terrified. The dragons had no true leader anymore and now they were loose and free to do whatever they pleased. And something was certainly pissing them off about that city. Perhaps they knew Cersei was present. Perhaps it was the history of what that city had done to their ancestors. All Reyanna truly knew was that they were pissed off at the city and wanted to see it destroyed, regardless if the battle had ended.

The dragons continuing to set fire to the city caused the fighting of the standing armies to resume. Reyanna didn't know what to do but to stand at the roof she had been abandoned on and watch the bloodshed take place. Everyone's pent up anger came out and they were bloodthirsty. Those who had lost loved ones or had been treated unjustly thrived in the riot climate.

Reyanna hurried down to the ground as quickly as she could then hurried over to where most of the chaos was. She spotted a small child hiding behind a pillar as Jon's own men began snatching woman and young girls. One tried to grab the little girl but Reyanna came in just in time and stabbed the man in the back. Reyanna picked up the little girl and ran off with her to hide in a nearby alleyway. "Shhhh, you're okay. Stay here." Reyanna set her down behind some barrels.

When Reyanna returned outside into the chaos, the men were so power hungry that on didn't even realized they had grabbed Reyanna to try to rape her. He didn't even notice it was Reyanna, his own queen, all he knew was that chaos was abound and there was a woman before him. He pushed Reyanna to the ground and began to try to pin her down. She screamed and tried to fight back, but she was in an awkward position to defend herself from the ground. She kicked and screamed and even tried to reach for her sword, but the terrorizing only ended when someone came up behind him and chopped his head off. The man's body collapsed to the ground and the person that killed him was Jon, his bloody sword still in hand.

Jon helped her up. "Are you okay?" Jon grabbed her face.

Reyanna's eyes were still wide from fear and shock. She slowly nodded. "We have to get out of here. The city is turning to ashes." Reyanna spoke frantically.  Jon nodded, agreeing that the two alone couldn't end the chaos.
