Slavery

Prompt: Write about a boy who was sold into slavery by whoever you desire and has to find some way to escape. MusicgirlXD

Idea by: Me

I actually do not own the whole plot. The characters and the escape plan are mine, but the idea of slavery comes from the movie Joseph: King of Dreams. I actually added a music video above that kinda shows some of the story and I love this song so much and that I thought I would share it with ya'll.

Running through the forest, Levi pushed branches that hung off of trees out of his face. He was on the run, and from who exactly? His brothers. Levi had five older brothers who were after him. He didn't know why his brothers hated him so much, but he had a pretty good idea. Levi was favored by his parents above the other brothers.

"Levi!" Levi gasped as he heard his name being called out from behind him. He turned around swiftly but continued to back away. His brothers were gaining on him. "You can't hide from us, Levi! We will find you!"

Levi continued to back away and as he did, he stumbled over an uprooted root from a big tree and tumbled down a large hill backward head over heels; he smacked his head on a rock as he tumbled.

Levi laid at the bottom of the hill with his eyes closed. His head ached badly and he felt a trickle of blood beginning to pour down the side of his face. Levi opened his eyes and a face came into focus from his swarming vision.

Levi gasped. "Juda!" His oldest brother reached down for him and gripped his shirt pulling him to his feet.

"There you are, little brother," the oldest smirked. He lifted Levi off the ground to where his feet dangled. "What do you think we should do with him, Isaiah?" Juda asked the second oldest.

Isaiah smiled evilly. "I don't care what we do with him! I just want him gone!"

William, the third oldest, pushed passed Isaiah. "I have an idea! Let's sell him!" Levi gasped at his brother's option. "We'll find some slave traders and make a profit off of him! Then we can tell Father that something ate him and bring back a piece of his raiment covered in blood for proof."

Levi began to fight off his brothers. "No! You can't do this to me! You can't!"

The five brothers laughed at their youngest. "You just watch us!" Isaiah exclaimed.

Three hours passed and night soon fell. Levi was sitting up with his back against the bark of a tree as three men rode into where he and two other brothers sat— the three men all were riding camels. It wasn't odd really. There was a desert only a few miles west from here.

Levi saw his eldest brother Juda communicating with one of the men. "Thirty pieces of silver," the man said as he threw a velvet sack towards Juda. "As promised. Now, where is the boy?"

"Over there," Juda pointed towards Levi as his heart sank.

"What happened to his head?" the man asked as he took one glimpse at Levi.

Juda smiled sheepishly. "Just an accident. He's perfectly fine."

Isaiah gripped Levi by the shoulders and shoved him over towards the three men. "He's all yours," Isaiah said as he pushed Levi into the arms of the three men.

"No!" Levi objected. "You can't sell me! What will Father say if he finds out?" Levi tried to escape from the man's grasp, but a rope was quickly tied around his wrists.

"Father will never find out," William assured Levi with the same grin as before.

Levi turned his gaze towards the fifth brother— the one step up from Levi. "Simeon, please! You have to help me! Don't let them take me!" Simeon never approved of his brothers selling their youngest into slavery, but what was one man's opinion over four? Simeon could only turn his head as the three men mounted their camels and rode off with Levi trailing behind shouting for him to save him.

The three men stopped after a couple hours to rest and get warmed by a fire. It always became super cold at night in the desert. They never let Levi come even close to the fire for warmth, they never gave him food to eat nor water to drink. The only water he got was what little bit dripped from the camel's mouth as it drank in the refreshing, cool liquid that its owner gave it.

Levi shivered that whole night as he tried to fall asleep, but every time, he would only dream of his brothers and how they could have ever sold him for thirty pieces of silver. This was something he was never going to be able to forgive his brothers for.

Morning came. Without warning, Levi was kicked in the side and told to stand to his feet. Levi did and was immediately dragged through the desert behind the camel, the rope digging into the flesh of his wrists.

They had walked for hours in the blazing heat. Levi just couldn't continue any longer. He felt too weak to continue. He finally gave up on walking and collapsed in the sand. The men didn't even notice or care. He was simply dragged behind the camel as the rope cut even deeper.

They must've traveled the whole day because by the time Levi woke up again, it was already night and the coldness was back.

"Look who's back with the living," one man said as he sat beside his cozy fire.

Levi didn't even have the strength to answer him or say anything witty back. He just laid in the sand and felt the sunburn on his back sting as the sand grazed against it.

Levi had had enough of this. He couldn't be here any longer. He had to find some means of escape. Even just unhooking the rope from around the camel's reins could allow him to run away into the night unnoticed hopefully... so that is what he tried.

Levi stood to his feet, his legs shaking from trying to hold his weight— he prayed this was all from lack of food and water and hopefully not from the concussion he might have. He carefully stalked over towards the camel unnoticed and began to unwrap the rope from around the camel's reins. So far so good, and the camel didn't make any noise either.

The rope slid free from the reins, and Levi picked the end of the rope up in his hands so it wouldn't drag and make him trip. He slowly backed away from the camel and the man and disappeared off into the night. He heard the men scream when they recognized Levi missing.

Levi didn't know where he was going. He couldn't go home now, not with his brothers having just sold him. He'd have to find a new home, and the closest city he was to was Egypt.
