Long ago, two races ruled over Earth; HUMANS and MONSTERS.

HUMANS had SOULS that could persist even after it's holders death.

MONSTER SOULS could not persist after their holders death. However they did have magic, which HUMANS did not posess.

They got along quite well, MONSTERS hang around HUMANS freely, without any fear. Same with HUMANS hanging around MONSTERS.

Over time there began to be.. slight changes in the MONSTER magical structure as it was till that point. Newborn monsters have started to show magical abilities unlike their parents.

The powers I am talking about are CHAIN POWERS.

There are two types of Chain powers.

The first, and the most common one, is summonable. The MONSTER who posesses this power is able to summon chains at will. They can be used to make attacks.

The second and the less common one, is permanent. The MONSTER has chains attatched to their body. Which they can use to pick stuff up with, or in battle send them at their opponent. The MONSTERS with this type of chains are quite limited in their usage depending on how many chains they have and how long the chains can go before they start dragging their owner with them.

The least common and the rarest type is a combination of the two. The MONSTER has both summonable and permanent chains at their disposal. There has been only a few records mentioning monsters with this type of chains.

As said before, MONSTERS began to change their magical structure.

HUMANS grew scared of the changes that were happening to the MONSTER kind. They were scared, that maybe with the new powers the MONSTERS were getting, they would attack the HUMANS.

So the HUMANS declared war against the MONSTERS.

We all know how it ended up don't we?

The MONSTERS were sealed UNDERGROUND with a magical BARRIER constructed by the few humans that learned magic.

Theeeee end!"

Sans closes a book he has been reading to his little brother Papyrus, who's currently sitting on his bed under his comfy covers.

"Why did you want me to read this to you anyway? What happened to 'Read me Fluffy bunny or I'll steal all your tartar!'?" Asked Sans amused.

"Well.. I wanted to know a bit about our history! And" Papyrus pulled a bottle of a white-yellowy substance with green pieces in it, that he has been keeping behind his back. "I made sure to take some precuations if you didn't want to read to me." Said Papyrus smugly.

"Aaaw come ooooon." Said Sans while slumping. "How ever will I get my hourly dose of sweet sweet tartar now?" "You're being over dramatic brother." Sans was being a little too over dramatic for a reason. He's been stealthilly reaching for the tartar in Papyrus's hands with one of his chains, being really carefull not to make a sound.

"Oh the pain!" He said to keep the show up. Just a little more and he has it!

SLAP

Papyrus slapped Sans's chain away just a few milimeters away from the tartar bottle. "Do not think you can sneak up on the Great Papyrus brother!"

Well there goes Sans's tartar.

Hiya! Hope you enjoyed reading the prologue to this story! I don't have a main chain of events (see what I did there?) set up untill later in the story. So.. IMPROVISING! I never did any interactions between Sans and Paps in my AU so I hope you could get at least a little bit of a picture of how their personalities are like.
