A Waiting Breath
(Y/n): What?
Your eyes allowed a soft glare at the woman before. She just kept that same damn smile on her face the entire time, somehow looking down on you as you stood above her. Makima let her chin rest against her hand as she could sense the slight agitation bristling against her from your aura.
Makima: I need you to move.
(Y/n): Am I not moving right now?
Makima chuckled softly.
Makima: I need you to move to a new place. Mafayu agreed to it and is helping move your things to a new location with another of our agents.
(Y/n): Why can't I stay with Mafayu? Why can't I talk to her?
Makima: She's helping with the moving right now, so you can spend the day with me. We don't seem to have much work today thankfully enough.
(Y/n): I don't even have that many things other than my books, what could be taking all day to transfer to this new place?
Makima simply smiled up at you once again, irking a small part of your mind while another part couldn't help but admire how beautiful the girl was. She was... you didn't really have a basis for cute or beautiful now that you thought about it but your brain was like POW whenever she was around so you assumed that was good.
Makima: We are also looking into getting proper supplies for your kitty. He was quite cute to play with while we waited for you.
You let out a soft scoff, moving to take a seat back in your chair that had skidded back from your sudden movements.
Makima: You really should be more cautious especially in a cafe like this.
(Y/n): I've never been to a cafe before.
Makima: Hmm~ Well then why don't you get a drink? Or you could try mine?
Makima lifted a weird-shaped cup from a tiny plate, the small beverage holder was shaped perfectly for sipping on the seemingly hot drink within it. Makima then placed the cup on the tiny plate and slid over to you, the handle facing you. You took a moment to glance at the drink. It was a dark brown liquid. It seemed to have a faint scent though you weren't sure what it was you could see a light wisp of steam rising from it meaning it was hot. Your hand lifted softly and coiled two fingers through the tiny handle loop before bringing it up to sniff the substance. It had a... hmm... kinda herby smell to it.
Makima: It's tea.
(Y/n): Eh?
Makima: It's a warm beverage. Go ahead.
Tea? Hmm... this could be a trap... though you do remember Mafuyu doing something with tea before. So you took a short breath and raised the cup to your lips before freezing. Every muscle in your arm screamed in warning as you noticed something on the small white cup. There were... lip marks. Clearly from Makima not even a finger tip's lengths from yours. Your eyes flashed up to see Makima examing you before you suddenly jerked your hand and twisted the cup to have the cup between your lips and the handle before pouring into your mouth. The beverage was much hotter than you realized, coughing almost instantly as you tilted the cup away from you. It was too late however as a bit of the dark liquid splashed on your white button-up.
(Y/n): Hah ah gah! that was horrible! Liquid fire!
A soft chuckle filled your ears as you took a moment to see Makima had slipped from her seat. You twisted in your seat a moment to find she was standing over you, really looking down on you with her unreadable gaze. You gulped softly, cringing a bit at the bitter warm taste on your tongue as Makima allowed herself to fall forward softly. Her left hand trailed downward and landed on your knee, supporting her weight as her free hand gripped a cloth from the table.
Makima: I guess you aren't a tea person. Well we have time to learn what you like, (Y/n)~
Your heart thumped loudly against your chest as the light red-headed woman moved a bit closer, rising the cloth to your face to clean the leftover liquid from your lips before trailing down your neck to the newly acquired stain on your shirt. It felt like you couldn't breathe, the gentle scent of Makima filling your nose as you did your best to stay out of her way. Her hand lightly squeezed your knee as you jumped slightly, gulping as another chuckle filled the air. You managed to find the courage to let your eyes meet her. Big mistake. Her eyes locked onto your nervous (E/c) gaze and she gave this subtle smirk. Her right hand lifted and set the cloth to the side, though she made no move from your personal space. She reeled her hand back in and placed her pointer finger just below your bottom lip, her fingernail grazing your lip.
Makima: What do you think you would like instead... hmm, (Y/n)~?
Your mouth quivered as you could only gulp once more, a strange warmth filling your face as your hands froze at your side, putty in her hands. You managed to find your voice somewhere in the jumbled mess that was your brain to give her some sort of response.
(Y/n): I... I-I um y- Um... I... j-juice?
That same damn subtle smirk rested on her lips once more, her eyes glowing down at you before the door to the cafe opened. One of those black-suited guys she seemed to have often in her company glanced around the cafe before slowly moving over to your table. Makima took a moment to examine you before lifting herself up, moving to meet the male halfway. You took a moment to raise one of your newly un-frozen hands to rest it over your heart, feeling it rapidly thump against your chest.
(Y/n): What... was that?
The words left your lips in a whisper, your eyes glancing over to Makima to take in her form. She spoke to the male with a neutral expression, so easily melting the strange face from before off her features. Somewhere in you, her feminine presence sparked something inside of you earning a rather strange reaction from your body. You gulped once more and took in Makima's curves. You allowed your eyes a bit of freedom for the moment, your brain rebooting itself before the suited male nodded and turned to walk out, Makima turning back to the table and catching your eyes. Before you could let her smirk you raised a hand to your face, covering your right eye and letting your left gaze through your fingers at the floor.
Makima: We have to go.
(Y/n): H-Huh?
Makima: Some more paperwork flooded in. I'll show you our headquarters and get you ready for the transfer to your new place of residence. Plus, you could take some of the paperwork for me~
Makima nodded to you before picking up her coat off the back of the chair and starting to head toward the door. You took a moment to straighten yourself and stand up before shuddering.
(Y/n): Yeah... cause I'm in a great place to do paperwork right now...
You whispered out before following the girl at a soft distance.
After the onslaught of paperwork and trying to remember where all the different rooms were in the large headquarter building place, you trailed Makima to a strange place. It was like a room, but like a whole bunch of them stacked on top of each other for like ever! Makima called it like... an a part ment? Well, the rooms did look apart so it kinda fit. Makima stopped at a door and you nearly bumped into her, contorting your body to prevent bumping into the woman as she knocked on the door. You stood there for a few moments before the door opened and a male took a step forward. The dude seemed... normal. At least by your standards so far. He had mid-length black hair pulled back into one of those topknot things. His cold blue eyes looking at Makima.
Makima: Sorry for springing this on you on such short notice, but here's your new roommate.
(Y/n): Eh?
You spoke which alerted the male to your presence, his gaze turning to you and instantly turning calculating before he turned to your full. The male wore a suit and tie much like the other guys from the agency, though it also looks like he just got home seeing as his weapon was still on his back. You both stared at each other in silence, your shirt still stained with tea and awkwardly buttoned while this guy seemed... cold.
Makima: Well I will leave you two to get acquainted. Work well you two cause starting tomorrow I have some plans for you boys.
Makima stated those words quickly before brushing past you and walking off. A part of you wanted to watch you leave but you felt as though this guy would stab you in the throat if you turned away from him.
(Y/n): Uh... hey there.
???: hey.
(Y/n): I'm (Y/n) (L/n). Sorry to be a bother... I think that's how you say it.
The male once more looked you over before simply moving back into his apartment.
Aki: Aki Hayakawa. Don't mess up my apartment or I'll kill you myself.
Yeah, you could tell this was gonna be fun. Tons and tons of fun...
