Chapter 2: Morning Troubles
The shine of the morning sun fell from the roof's gaps and cracks into the little animals' camp. Five's whiskers twitched as she woke up. She was laying on her back. Her fringe was protruding on all sides, revealing two black dots above her eyes. Five sat up and crorrected her bangs. Six was still quietly snoring curled into a ball like she went to sleep last evening, with her tail that was covering her face. Ten was sleeping soundly laying on his back, with saliva dropping from his muzzle. Five rubbed her eyes and looked around searching for her yellow raincoat. She found it on her right. Five grabbed the raincoat and wore it. She quietly buttoned it, to not wake others up.
No matter how quiet Five tried to be, Six's ears perked up at button's sound. She stretched and yawned revealing her small, sharp teeth. Five looked at younger fox.
- Morning, Six - Five said taking off her red ponytail holder and started untying her braid.
- Morning - Six mumbled still half asleep.
She sat up and blinkes few times to get better vision. Five smiled gently and untied her braid. She put all of her hair on her right shoulder and started to brush them with her front paws. The vixen hummed quietly as her fingers with claws pulled out were unraveling tangles in her hair. Six layed down again at her soft voice.
- I'm sleeping again - Six murmured curling back into a ball.
Five's nose twitched in amusement.
- At least you woke up - she said looking at Ten, who was sleeping like dead.
Six's ears perked up at older fox's words. She opened her eyes and looked where Five was gazing. Her gaze landed on Ten. Six's whiskers twitched and her tail started wagging playfully. Younger vixen got up and started to quietly sneaking towards the sleeping tiger carefully taking her steps. Six crouched down hunting maneuver still fast waving her tail on both sides. Five could only watch how Six just stole Ten's hat from under his head and ran away.
- Hey! - the tiger yelled as Six was just laughing two metres away holding in her left front paw his 'pillow'. - Give it back!
Six was still laughing holding his hat. Ten just sat down and circled his striped tail around himself, flattering his black ears with white dots on his head.
- Very funny - Ten said scratching back of his head.
Six just sat up and circled her tail around herself. She was looking at him with playfully grin. Tiger boy fixed his curly hair that were tangled. He looked down on the right where was laying his red scarf. The boy took it and rolled it into a ball. He put the scarf down and layed on it placing his head on his crossed arms. Ten closed his fair green eyes and smiled victoriously. Six tilted her head as she gazed at him. She gently wagged her tail as she got up and sneaked to sleeping tiger. Ten's ears perked up as Six came closer to him. He opened his eyes slightly and looked at Six who crouched next to him.
- You won't steal me my pillow that easily now - Ten muttered digging his head into his curled scarf.
Young fox just tilted her head a little and looked at tiger boy grinning widely.
- We will see about that! - Six said as she jumped forward, pushing Ten out of his nest.
The vixen stood up and curled her bushy tail up in triumph as she looked down at Ten, who just layed down on the side. The tiger boy got up and crouched down in hunting position.
- Oh, you will regret it - he said as he charged at Six.
Didn't take long and two animals started play-fighting, lightly hitting each other with paws with hidden claws. Meanwhile when younger kids were nipping eachother, Five was braiding her hair. When she finished, she took her red ponytail holder and tied her hair. Five's long braid hung behind her back as she looked towards Six and Ten.
Six was laying down on her stomach, unable to got up, because of huge paw pinning her head down. Ten was crouching next to her. Tip of his striped tail was wagging playfully.
- Ok, you won. Take your paw off of me - the fox faintly muttered.
- Sure - tiger boy said grinning widely. - Just apologize.
- Never! - Six yelled trying to get rid of Ten's wide paw from her head.
- Ten, let her go - Five cut in their small quarrel. - We need to be ready and we are waiting only for you.
- What?! - Ten screamed disappointed. - If not Six, I would be ready!
- If not me, you would still be asleep - younger vixen mumbled kinda to yourself.
Five giggled quietly, but quickly regained her seriousness.
- The faster the better for us - Five said firmly. - Get up and get ready.
Ten rolled his eyes and stood up. Six, freed from the tiger paw, got up and walked briskly towards where she had left Ten's hat. While tiger boy was dressing his dark-brown coat, Six took his woolen cap and swiftly walked back towards Ten. His ears perked up as he heard as he heard her paw steps coming closer to him.
- Oh, at least you- - Ten cut off, when he noticed, that Six just ran past him. Without giving him back his hat, she passed under planks and disappeared on the other side. - Seriously?!
Irritated Ten took his red scarf and sloppy wrapped it around his neck then he quickly chased after her. Five turned her ears towards the direction where he left. When his tail disappeared into he shadow, she couldn't stand it and burst out laughing. When Five came to her senses, she swiftly followed after him.
Much to her surprise, Six and Ten instead of fighting again, were just talking to each other on the pile of wood and planks. Seeming that Ten got his hat back probably finally they made up. Five ran up towards them, climbing on the pile of wooden rubble where the younger animals were chatting. Their ears perked up as the vixen came closer to them. Ten looked at Five. His whiskers were trembling in amusement.
- We have made a deal - Ten started. - If I will find food first, Six will never annoy me again-
- And if I'll find first - Six cut in Ten's sentence. - I will still annoy him.
Five tilted her head a little and smiled slightly.
- Well, then good luck-
- Who do you think will win?! - Six and Ten yelled at the same time.
Older fox didn't know what to say. She didn't want to favor any of them.
- Uhm, I-
- Pfft, what did we ever ask - Ten said cutting in Five's sentence once again and looked up proudly. - Of course I will.
Six at his words flattered her ears on her head.
- Oh, I wouldn't be that sure - she said as she jumped down on the floor.
Six looked up at Ten curling her tail up before she turned on left and run away disappearing behind some wooden blocks.
- Wha- wait! - Ten yelled and clumsily started to climb down.
He barely dropped on four paws. Five following him swiftly jumped down landing on four paws next to him. The tiger stood up and dusted himself of. He looked at the fox.
- Well, time to go on our ways. Wait... - Ten added looking down on Five's tail. - Is it me or your tail is something like two times longer than before?
The vixen's eyes widened at his words. She looked on her tail. He was right. Yesterday Five's tip of tail barely touched the ground, now almost half of her tail could lay on the floor.
- Ugh, I-
Before she could finish, Ten turned back and ran towards where Six went.
- Never mind, I need to catch up with Six! - He yelled looking behind.
Five was left alone.
- Huh, why did everyone where everyone interrupting me mid-sentence today? - She said to yourself and looked in opposite direction. - Time for hunt.
Five run forwards, but the thought of her elongated tail still haunted her mind. How is she going to tell them?
×[Author's Note]×
Hyaa! Second chapter and 1392 words! Less than in previous chapter, but always something :D
And of course some weird sh*t at the end, lol. Also, remember... Those black dots above Five's eyes means nothing :)
And I forgot to mention in previous chapter. Just because Five called Six 'sis' doesn't mean they're related. Just, foxes stick together! Seriously, have you ever seen two little foxes playing? It's adorable.
