Chahat stopped the car outside his house, and they both stepped out. She turned to Agastya with a soft smile and asked, "Did you enjoy today?"

He returned her smile, nodding. "Yes, it was nice."

They walked inside together, but as soon as they stepped into the living room, Chahat froze. Her eyes widened, and her breath caught in her throat.

There, sitting at the dining table, was Aayansh, her ex. He looked completely at ease, being fed lovingly by his mother

"Mera beta kahan tha itne dino se? Kitna patla ho gaya hai," Sunita his mother said affectionately, her voice filled with concern. Raj, his father, sat beside Aayansh, quietly watching.

Chahat instinctively took a step back, her body trembling. Her back bumped into Agastya, who immediately placed his hands on her shoulders for support. His brow furrowed in confusion as he looked at the scene before them, trying to process why his brother was here and what was going on.

Just as Chahat started to come out of her shock, she noticed someone stepping out of the kitchen. It was Kaviya, holding a glass of water.

Chahat's stomach twisted as her eyes fell on Kaviya's wrists adorned with chooda, the mangalsutra resting on her neck, and the streak of sindoor in her hairline.

Kaviya noticed her too and smiled brightly.

"Hey, bestie! Finally, I get to see you," Kaviya said, grinning as she walked toward her. "I know what happened shouldn't have happened, but ab toh ho gaya jo hona tha. Look at us, both married now and in the same house!"

She reached out as if to hug Chahat, but Chahat stepped back and raised her hand to stop her.

"Don't you dare touch me with your filthy hands," she snapped, glaring at her.

Without another word, she turned and walked to her room, slamming the door shut behind her.

Agastya followed her.

He pushed the door open, his steps careful as he entered the room. She was seated on the bed, her back straight, her hands gripping the edge tightly, her head slightly bowed. Her face was calm, but her red-rimmed eyes betrayed her. She wasn't sobbing anymore, Chahat would never let anyone see her cry like that.

He stayed silent, observing her from the doorway for a moment before finally stepping forward. "Chahat," he said, his voice gentle, careful.

She didn't move, didn't even glance his way. "What do you want, Agastya?" Her tone was steady, sharp, but it was different from her usual self.

"I just wanted to check on you," he replied. He stayed a few feet away, sensing that she wouldn't want him to close.

She let out a short, bitter laugh. "Check on me? Don't waste your time. I'm fine."

"You don't have to pretend with me," he said quietly.

She finally looked up at him, her eyes hard, her jaw clenched. "You think I'm weak? That I'm going to fall apart because of them? I've dealt with worse, Agastya. I'll survive this, too."

Her voice was firm, but there was something in her expression, a flicker of exhaustion, of pain that made him pause.

"I don't think you're weak," he said softly, holding her gaze. "I think you're stronger than you want anyone to know."

For a moment, her facade cracked, her eyes softening just slightly before she quickly looked away.

"Don't waste your sympathy on me,"she said. "I don't need it."

Agastya didn't say anything for a minute he wanted her to have her time and not think that he was invading her personal space.

"Alright," he said after a long pause. "But if you..need anything I'm...here".

She didn't turn, didn't acknowledge his words, but the slight pause in her movements told him she'd heard him. That was enough for now. Without another word, "I'll be in the park," he left the room, leaving her alone so she could cry and have her own time to process everything.

"Why me, God? Why are they here? Can't I just have a normal life?" Chahat whispered to herself, her voice trembling with frustration and pain.

She gripped the edge of the dresser, her knuckles turning white. "No," she muttered, her voice growing firm. "Enough is enough. Why am I feeling bad? I didn't do anything wrong. I won't let this break me anymore."

A tear slipped down her cheek, but she wiped it away quickly. Straightening, she walked over to the mirror, adjusting her hair with steady hands. She applied a layer of lip gloss, her reflection looking more composed than she felt.

"I can't stay holed up in this room forever," she muttered under her breath.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped out of the room. Her gaze immediately landed on the dining table, where the 'perfect family' sat, laughing and talking like nothing was wrong.

Two days. She had been here two days, and not once had they smiled at her or Agastya.

Her eyes flicked to Aayansh. He shifted uneasily in his chair, unable to meet her gaze. At least he knows he did something wrong, she thought bitterly.

But then her eyes landed on Kaviya. Her face was serene, her smile bright, completely devoid of guilt. The sight made Chahat's stomach churn. Was she really my best friend?

Shaking her head, she turned away and stepped outside, needing fresh air to clear her thoughts.

"Kya karoon bahar aakar?" Chahat wondered, her mind still swirling with frustration and confusion. She remembered Agastya mentioning he'd be at a park.

Pulling her phone out of her pocket, she searched for nearby parks. One of them popped up just five minutes away.

He's probably there, she thought, slipping her phone back in and starting to walk. The cool air brushed against her face as she made her way, her thoughts still heavy, but her pace steady.

When she reached the park, Chahat noticed how spacious it was, the lush green grass stretching far and wide. There was a playground with swings and slides and a few benches scattered around. Since it was late, the place was quiet, almost deserted, except for a lone figure sitting a little distance away.

Her eyes narrowed as she recognized the clothes it was Agastya.

Taking a deep breath, she slowly started walking toward him, her footsteps quiet on the soft grass.

She placed her hand on his shoulder, making him flinch slightly. When he turned and saw her, his brows furrowed, clearly not expecting her there. Without a word, she sat down beside him, her eyes fixed on the glowing sunset in front of them.

Noticing her silence, he finally asked, "Kya kar rahi ho idhar?"

She glanced at him, tilting her head slightly. "Why? Can't I be here?" she retorted.
Caught off guard, he cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably. "Mera matlab wo nahi tha," he said quietly.

After a few minutes of silence, she finally spoke, her voice soft. "I didn't want to be alone. That's why I'm here."

He looked at her, his eyes lingering on her profile. Only her left side was visible, her face illuminated by the soft red and yellow hues of the setting sun. She looked lost in thought, her sadness etched in the slight downturn of her lips and the distant look in her eyes.

He didn't know why, but seeing her like this stirred something in him. Her pain seemed to echo in his chest, tugging at him in a way he couldn't explain. Maybe it was because she had been hurt by his so-called brother, or maybe it was something else entirely. All he knew was that he didn't like seeing her this way.

"I'm sorry." He said, sighing heavily. She looks at him confused, "Why are you sorry, idiot it's not your fault"  she smiled at him,a small smile "still, they are my family they shouldn't treat you like this" he said looking at her "you can't talk on behalf of your family, at least you aren't like them,I have to spend the rest of my life with you not with them,I won't mind until you respect me,but the day you'll stop respecting me,it will be the end of our relationship" she told him.

"I am trying really hard to forget him and her, I want to move on with my life with you, I don't want to to cheat on you,by having feelings for my ex,it won't be fair." She continued, looking directly in his eyes."I hope you won't cheat. You'll be loyal to me, and I promise you the same"

"I'm not like my brother,I swear I will never even look at another woman the wrong way,I will always respect you and our relation," he said, making her smile.

"Perfect, so don't ever apologize if it's not your mistake." She said, making him nod.

                                  𓅪

"Oh, you're finally here. Come sit. We were talking about these siblings' childhood." Kaviya smiled at them, patting on the sofa on which they all were sitting.

Agastya was going to deny when Chahat said, "Why not! Let us change our clothes, we'll be here in some minutes"
