26.
Chicago was in a state of chaos. Civilians were running around in a state of panic, ushering their children inside buildings or they were running away from the giant alien ship in the sky. "Why hasn't it taken off yet?" Shane asked, as both Cade and I kept an eye out for the ship, following it the entire way. I noticed that the ship was descending and my stomach began to twist with nerves "Come on Bee it's descending, you have to get on it" Cade announced, as the yellow Autobot chirped in response before increasing his speed, the other bots following closely behind.
We kept driving until we reached the descended ship, as it had stopped beside a bridge giving us the perfect opportunity to climb aboard. Cade, Shane, Tessa and I quickly jumped out of Bee's alt-mode and made our way to the edge of the bridge, looking for a place to safely jump onto. Suddenly, the ships engines started up again, slowly thrusting it skyward. We were running out of time. "Bee, come on!" Cade called, and turned towards the ship once more. I was getting desperate, we needed to board this thing now. "That's a bad idea..." Hound mumbled, loading his gun with a small jerk of his arm "But I'm all about bad ideas" he finished, quickly picking me up and placing me on his shoulderplate. Stepping back to get a run-up, Hound charged forward and jumped, clinging on to the side of the ship with a loud clang. We climbed on top of the ship, and I caught up to Cade, Shane and Tessa, jogging quickly over to them. "This is crazy..." Shane muttered, looking down at an opening that we could use to get in, "Hey, if you want to cut and run you better do it now" Cade snapped, turning towards the Irish boy beside him. Shane opened his mouth to retaliate, but before he could even speak Tessa interrupted them "Can you guys stop arguing for once? We're here to get Optimus so stop acting so childish!" she snapped, causing everyone to fall silent. Crosshairs and I laughed loudly at Cade and Shane's shocked faces "Well, I didn't expect that" he mused, to which I nodded my head in response.
I was the first person to enter the ship, trying not to slip as I slid down the steep incline. I reached the floor first, followed by Drift, then Crosshairs. "We're behind enemy lines now" Hound announced, sliding down onto the floor "Lockdown's ship has booby-traps, eyes open" he ordered, standing beside me. Bumblebee climbed down last, with Tessa, Shane and Cade clinging onto him for dear life. Crosshairs began to name all the sorts of traps that would possibly be on board before finally stopping at radiation, "Thanks Crosshairs, that makes us all feel safe" I muttered sarcastically. "Ha, sorry" he replied smugly, "We must be quick, we have the element of surprise, let's try to use violence as a last resort" Drift announced, holding his blades close ready to take action if needed. Just as he finished speaking, a metal tentacle of some sort escaped it's cage, startling the Samurai enough for him to spin around and slice the tentacle in half, continuously slicing at it until it was no more. "It's not alive anymore..." Drift announced proudly, a triumphant look settling on his faceplate.
"Well we looked, they're not here, let's go" Crosshairs snapped, throwing his arms up in defeat. I spun around on my heel to face the bright green mech "What? I'm not going anywhere without Optimus!" I shouted, staring up at him angrily. Crosshairs slipped his gun back inside his coat tails and pointed an accusing digit at me "I'm unclear, what's in it for me?" he asked, lightly shoving me backwards. I opened my mouth to protest "What's in it for you!?" I replied in shock, not believing what I was hearing from the mech. The sound of a gun reloading caught my attention, as Hound aimed his gun directly at Crosshairs's helm "Easy, easy, let's use words" the bright green mech warned, holding his servos up in defence. "What's in it for you, is I don't kill ya. We're getting the boss back, and if you have a problem with that you can talk to Y/n, about it. Because I know she's not gonna leave until we get Optimus back. Copy?" Hound snarled, removing his gun from Crosshairs. Crosshairs nodded his helm in understanding "Okay okay, very persuasive..." He replied, "Alright then, we'll need to sabotage something..." the bright green mech continued. "Better hurry...the dark matter drives are preparing to take off" Drift stated, "Well, I'd give us 10 minutes".
"Wait a minute, are you telling me that sound is the engines firing up? Are you telling me this thing's gonna be flying out of here in 10 minutes?" Shane panicked.
"Uh huh" Drift confirmed.
"10 minutes!?".
"Could be now, worse case scenario".
"We're wasting time" Cade snapped, "Shane, Tessa and I will try and find some sort of weapons room whilst you guys go look for Optimus" he announced, turning to leave with his daughter and her boyfriend. "Copy that!" Hound replied, "Let's go!" "Alright, let's stop this nightmare ship" Crosshairs ordered, turning to follow after Hound and Drift. "Climb on..." Drift kindly offered, holding out his servo for me. I smiled up at him kindly and carefully climbed on, slowly lifting me up and placing me on his shoulderplate. I thanked him with a kurt nod, as we continued on through the ship, looking for any sign of the Prime.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
We had spent 6 minutes looking for something, anything that would lead us to Optimus. "Hey! I think I found something!" Crosshairs shouted, causing the the bots to break out into a jog. We arrived at a large rounded door which appeared to be heavily armoured. "Eyes open" Hound ordered as he spun around, keeping watch for anything threatening that might wander passed. Drift placed me on the ground and set to work on the door "I almost got it!" the Samurai cried, sticking one of his swords into the door and fiddling with it like a lockpick. The door suddenly opened to reveal a large open room, with metal statues of what looked like Knights situated around the space. "Big boy coming through!" Hound shouted, pushing passed all of the Autobots as he stormed into the room first. I ran in after them, not wanting to get trampled right now and came to a stop in the centre of the room, looking around in awe.
There were cages everywhere, each one holding something larger than the Autobots. I made eye contact with one of them, their bright red optics staring me down. I stared back at him, my gaze never wavering. The creatures optics were the first to give way, giving me a small nod before turning his gaze towards the cell next to him. I was about to turn my gaze towards the cell when a loud commotion caught my attention from behind. I spun around on my heel to see Hound rolling around on the floor, covered in what looked like green slime "I'm hit! I'm down! It's melting! It burns!" He cried, wiping the substance from his faceplate. I laughed loudly, my hands clutching my stomach as my sides began to hurt "Ugh nuts! It's just shizzle" he complained, rolling onto his side. "Ew! I hope that's not contagious" Crosshairs teased. Hound turned towards a creature in a smaller cage, one that had multiple legs and a mouth in its centre with rows and rows of teeth, "I've got to hurt you now...you're just too disturbing to look at" He told the...thing, pulling his gun out from behind him. "Take that, bitch" he snarled, firing a single shot and killing the creature instantly, making both Crosshairs and myself cringe.
"Y/n!" A familiar voice called out from within the room. I turned my head towards where the voice had come from, my eyes widening in happiness. There he was, hanging upside down in the cell just next to the creature I had made eye contact with before. His blue and red armour standing out against the faint blue light emitting from within the cage. "Optimus!" I shouted loudly, sprinting towards him in a mad dash. "He's alive!" Hound cried, running after me with the other bots following. I reached him first, climbing through the bars of the cage door and running over to him, placing my hands on his helm. "What are you doing here? This place is dangerous-" He began, only to be interrupted by Hound "Optimus, sound off!". Optimus rolled his optics "In here! Quick!" He cried, turning his attention back to me. I smiled softly "You didn't think I was going to leave you here did you?" I asked him, my smile now turning into a playful smirk. His optics softened on my form, a thin smile falling onto the Primes lips "I'm glad you came back..." He spoke quietly, just as Drift, Hound and Crosshairs arrived. "The arms of this Knightship detach, we can break free! It's a separate ship, hurry!" Optimus announced towards them, whilst I turned around to face them. Drift broke the door and Hound crawled through "Where's the cockpit?" Hound asked, looking around frantically "Left or right?".
"Right".
"I'm on it boss!".
Hound crawled out of the cage and disappeared towards the cockpit, whilst I stepped aside to allow Drift to do his work, cutting Optimus down from his upside down hold. Once Optimus was free, he crashed to the ground with a loud thud, whilst Drift and Crosshairs left to join Hound. I stayed however, and the Prime once again lifted his head for his optics to meet mine. He slowly reached out his servo, his thumb gently caressing the side of my cheek "You are one of the bravest humans I've ever met..." He whispered quietly, the hint of a smile gracing his mouthplate. I laughed and brushed his servo away playfully "If that's your way of a confession, you need to work on that" I told him, raising an eyebrow at him teasingly. A loud chuckle escaped Optimus, as he picked me up and gently placed me on his shoulderplate "Very well, I'll work on it after this is finished...".
