prologue

Blood. Death.

That's all she saw, she couldn't remember what had happen or how this all started but she remembered her parents telling her to hide as the cry of war echoed outside. She could hear it all, the cry of men, the beating of the horse's hooves, the wailing of civilians.

But then...it all stopped.

Touching her bloodied cheek from her wound that a romanian sliced with his sword, she left her hiding spot to descended outside where strewn of bodies of her people and romanian soldiers and a few horses lay on the bloodied dirt floor.

She searches the bodies for her parents but she couldn't find them, her heart dropped when she heard a horse coming up to her. Looking up she saw a large white horse covered in soot and mud, the rider dismount off of the horse, his armor covered with dried blood and grime.

He walked towards her until he's three feet in front of her, he bent down on one knee and removed his helmet to reveal a man with a stubble beard with a small nick on his face. He look at her with calming brown eyes.

"Hello." He greets with a calm voice. "What's your name?" He asks. She doesn't reply.

"It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." He tells her, holding a hand out for her to take, she reluctantly accepts.

"W-who are you?" She asks in a croaky voice.

"I'm General Marcus Acaius." He responds. "Now what's your name again?"

"E-Eilistraee." She replies.

"Now that's a beautiful name." He compliments. "Eilistraee, would you like to come with me?"

"But, what about my mother and father?" She asks.

Marcus bites the inside of his cheek. "Eilistraee, I don't think your parents are alive." He saw her eyes welling up with tears. He hushed her wand proceeds to wipe away the tears, "but I think that they'll like it if you would come with me."

She wasn't sure if she'll come with the strange man, but he seems trustworthy enough to say the least, so she nodded her head.

The General stood up, his hand still holding Eilistraee's he lead to his horse and hoist her up on the saddle while mounting up himself behind her. Making sure to have an arm wrap around her waistline, with a soft kick the horse turned around and left the village.

All of the treasured memories Eilistraee had were now gone, the bloodied massacre will never fade away, it'll remain with her until the end.
