After nearly 55 years, I continue to wonder, why was I never warned?

Such a low point of my life. Unexpected and most unpleasant.

For weeks before the wedding I'd obsessed about it. Worried myself sick I wouldn't get it right; be clumsy, apparently uncaring of success.

Not me! Practising this crucial part of marriage was my top priority. I'd tried every angle I could think about (and quite a few I'd never vaguely imagined before now).

Signing my new married surname for the first official time! (I thought) But on the marriage certificate, they STILL wanted my maiden name!
