Chapter 79: Requiem for a Rematch
Sehki spat out saliva, completely blindsided by an Asterism Arts from Mandrew and Capel's attack that shot out any hopes of victory he had.
"Knock him dead Top R!"
Rigal snapped out of the shock of losing, running and slamming Sehki's torso with an uppercut, flying into the endless barrage of wind projectiles slamming and smashing into his body, grunting in pain for the half-minute long torture session.
He watched Rigal's mouth lifted from enraged to relieved while his body lost every ounce of physical strength left, barely able to pick his arm and head up.
"I was...so," turning back to see Minus with the rest of the Inner Circle, "close."
"Close? Your luck ran out, and now you're going to die all alone!"
Madam punched her table. "Those cheating cowards! Let me at him,"
Lorena sucked her teeth. "He should've won that! Can't he be disqualified for interference?"
Ainsley lowered their eye. "It's not an official fight, but they know about Rigal's addiction to being the best: even if he knows he doesn't deserve that win."
Candy and Bodin almost dropped their phones, worried.
Professor Delta scowled at her screen while monitoring a chart with all five heirs.
Professor Scaldwave did the same, staring at the lone seat that was once Sehki's, hoping his hunch wasn't correct.
Alarmed, Bethany started searching for healing equipment just in case.
Gako shouted in disappointment while Yessenia warned him not to scare the residents of the homes they were helping rebuild in, hoping her sister could help him out.
Taylor breathed a sigh of relief, confused as to why Delphine was asking her to calm Rigal down.
Xia jumped in the air, excited and laughing. "Ha Rigal almost lost, and he thinks he's stronger than me? This Shadow guy," her fists flared, "makes me want to take him on right now!"
A person watching had their excitement drop to disappointment already on their way.
Meanwhile, Rigal walked towards Sehki, eager and willing to take advantage of his helpless state, kicking him aside, while Xia smiled.
"If that really is Sehki, he's done for this time, right?"
Calypsa started getting out of her seat.
"Sehki or not, I don't care anymore," shaking his head with his arrogant smile. "I have no idea what Calypsa saw in him," preparing a claw of wind widening in scope, "but after I make sure you're both dead, I never will."
Most of Sehki's friends and allies watched in concern and anger, thinking he was finished as Rigal fired it.
He winched, only facing the wind, and the sound of the stormy pressure redirected away from him, dispersing further away. He looked up to see the cause, the person, the fearless soul brave to combat an heir.
"Fight's over," said the baton user in front of him. "Shame too, this fight could've gone either way," turning slightly to leave a disapproving look at Rigal's Inner Circle.
"Without any inference," swinging back a wave of wind at the building the trio of followers on the building, swatting them down in seconds.
"Who do you think you are," Rigal asked. Before he could go flying at them, the baton user spun his weapon fast enough to create a typhoon pushing him back every second.
"Don't you remember: I'm the one who scared you so bad, you sent me to prison."
Candy had tears down her eyes while Calypsa grinned.
Sehki finally recognized who his brown skinned, yellow hair savior was.
"Crevan, Uyocron?"
He turned back. "You're the guy who paid to get me out?" Sehki's body got blown up in the air, and he slid underneath to hold him up.
"Rigal the Recreant! You can settle this another time! Right now, he comes out around this time."
The young heir looked at the time, and ordered all live streams be deactivated.
"Wait," Sehki coughed up. "In one week Rigal, you, me, rematch. We'll settle this then."
Rigal was about to say something when both Shugoda residents took a step back at a familiar figure wearing a spear, lance, shield, sword, dragging a halberd along the ground.
"Ursa! Aquila!"
The field of malice countered the already tense atmosphere, blowing away the effect of the nearby heaters.
That's the guy who stalked me back to the Bistro, the Herdsman?"
The Herdsmen whipped out the spear, forcing Crevan to channel wind from his baton, rocketing them away. The two watched Rigal's circle come to his aid, Minus trying to summon a field of air, Mandrew's dragon energy attack being blocked and stabbed to shreds, and Capel getting impaled and conjuring a vehicle to get them to flee.
As the distance grew closer, Sehki's ability to see Rigal's face lost in fear faded as he felt his body ready to slumber.
"Wait!"
He woke up the next morning, wondering just where he was, finding himself in a run-down building, with broken windows, cracks in the walls, but with mats, sleeping gear, heavy bags, and a fridge.
"Probably everything expired," Crevan said. "Well I can't get sick but I got no money. Guess we should've moved into the apartment back at Cusp."
Sehki saw his bandages, mask, and light helmet off.
"You're Candy's brother?"
"In the flesh," pointing to the picture he'd left for the station. "Weird, I'd thought you'd be headless. You don't change outfits all that much?"
"I only really go out on special occasions."
"Ahh," choosing to drink water instead, handing him a cup. "You put on a good show last night. If that coward's cronies hadn't jumped in, maybe you could've won."
Sehki punched the ground. "I was so close too."
"Well, no use crying over expired milk, now we buy some new ones. Let's make a deal. You tell me what I missed in these past four years, I'll train you to take him down!"
"Sure! Wait," explaining his predicament, then letting them know everything that went down.
"Wow! Well, if you're looking for an Air tutor, you've come to the right man for the job! Come on, first we're gonna get something good to eat, then we start immediately!"
