Chapter 51: Ainsley's Choice
"Come now child," watching the person that would be in control of them their entire life lead them into making a terrible decision. "Grab those two and join me outside."
Ainsley paused at the two lifeless bodies with opposition facial expressions.
I want to learn more about you - creating rubble clouds strong enough to carry them out. Yet, how much do I even know about her? Bodin? Even Sven.
They stared outside at the numerous people about to be sacrificed, including the aforementioned Sven and Bodin.
"Found those two in good condition. Sehki attacked them both earlier, an alibi already lapped into perfect judgment."
They winced, knowing their answer outside of aspirations was zero.
What good is an inner circle, if I never listen to them?
Ainsley lowered their hands in guilt. Sehki and Candy's bodies landed on the floor with no fractures. "I can't do this. I can't kill them!"
"Can't," casually turning back to him while the snakes in her hair screeched, forcing his eyes and head to alter and pound more forcibly, "or won't?"
They looked in the classroom mirror, spotting their pupils corrupting back into purple, turning back to Sehki and Candy with spears of dust forming above their heads to skewer them.
"An Ursa Minor and whatever their powerset is will be a great start."
"No," fighting to regain control of their limbs.
"Let them. They're only getting in the way of your goals," their conscious speaking, mirror Gorgon's own words. "They'll serve you much better. Let go!"
"This is my body!"
"Oh silly Ainsley, you've never been in control. All Tellus is known for is the weak losers who lost control of their biggest asset for years and rebounded to save face. Saiban, Coalition, and Shugoda have long surpassed us."
"I'm just as good as them!"
"Xia's much stronger than I'll ever be, Rigal can talk back to his parents, Taylor does whatever he wants, I can never be like them," they teased back. "That you?"
"Quiet!"
"See, you don't want control or power. You've let mommy, daddy, snake lady, and Cluster tell you what to do because you're afraid to do something. And where's everyone who's ever tried to support you," earning their fist. "Oh right, turned to stone, you're all alone!"
"That's not," sobbing. "That's not true!"
"If it was, I wouldn't be here, now would I?"
Ainsley saw the snake hands assisting in carrying their limbs again as the spears started to hover above his peers.
"Stop it!"
"Make her," the consciousness teased.
"Ainsley, the advent of your era has come," winding their arms back. They saw the inevitable outcome, resorting to biting their own mouth.
"Give up, you're not an artist. You're a daydreamer that'll never put those thoughts to page. Their blood will be the final thing we'll make you draw," laughing. "Say bye!"
As they swung down, Ainsley's mind broke down, reaching for a fragmented memory.
"Sehki, why do you keep trying? You won't hold the pose for long."
"You said you wanted to draw. So I'll make sure you draw something cool."
"Cal, please talk some sense into him."
She was standing on Sehki's shoulder next to Xia doing the same, while his feet were carried by Rigal and Taylor trying not to fumble.
"You never put the pencil down though."
"But I'm a prince, not an artist."
"So," he countered. "If it's your dream, we'll believe in you. Who says you can't be both?"
"You think we could beat the Voids too and do things outside of being kings?"
"We'll figure it out when we're older. Ain, no one will stop us!"
His cheer caused them to wobble, causing them to fall on each other. Calypsa laughed.
"Only we can stop each other, right?"
The young child laughed, choosing to draw them in that state instead.
Years later, Ainsley stayed in a room, while a young woman just a few inchse taller than them slipped in.
"Why does our training have to be so strict, Beth? Am I really that weak? Or did Sehki steal our strength?"
"You are far from weak Lord Ainsley. You see the woman in the statue?"
"Cassiopeia?"
"In this world, she wasn't a fae yet, but when the chimera was the last of the great beasts to learn magic, she taught him how to fight to fend for herself just through learning and lead a country who cared little for non-fae to be safe. Eventually the great beast was able to transfer some of their powers back to her, and she became a queen after a battle that could've killed many."
"I wish I could be a queen, I mean lord like that," starting to draw the statue again.
"You will," holding their hand with glee. "Let's try and make a magic replica of her."
They got to work on the body, taking hours of amusement and struggle until they got it.
In the present, Ainsley saw the deaths of Sehki and Candy about to occur by their hand. With Gorgon and their consciousness stripping use of their limbs, they swung their head back smashing it into the mirror.
The shock on their professor's face dropped the latter's guard and influence as their pupils reverted back to normal, punching the shattered fragments and clenching their fists into the vain attempts of hope.
"I won't stain the soil with my people's blood," crushing the skewers into dust and rubble about Sehki and Candy's head and transforming it into a chimera's claw.
"And let you construct my future," slashing Professor Gorgon in the hair, face, and body. Blood trickled down their face, while some of her snakes flew towards Sehki, one mesmerized enough to fall towards him and bite off a small sample of his aliment just as his shadow began gnawing at the other leg.
She stumbled back up, punching the locker with her arm transformed into a snake.
"How dare you defy your spouse," as the snake grew in size to bite down both sides of their torso. They belched in pain, but sensing her mental attacks on their psyche, they powered through the pain and slammed their claw down, breaking free.
They grabbed their neck and pieced through the bite affecting them. Finding a strain of hair inside the mark that contained the poison, they formed a small q tip shape to extract it out of their system.
"Consider our marriage terminated!"
Professor Gorgon no longer sensed the control taken out of their system. Anger twisted her smile.
"It seems you need to be re-educated before taking the throne," constructing a gigantic snake out from a combination of her hair strains, "you defected beast!"
