Chapter 4: Void of Empathy
As Shemar debated whether or not to be called Sehki, he looked around his settings. This was definitely a campus but focused on all the details around: a hallway with several stars connected to one another as the person in regal attire walked him into a room seperate from the center where he landed.
In that center housed a model of the sun with linings, which almost made him ask until he took a deep breath.
Alright me, calm down, you're in a new world, and you don't know anyone. This isn't some isekai, if I'm really some long lost noble, that means I've got friends and foes. Make them give me information. "Anyway, I didn't get your name."
"Oh silly me, call me Principal Luminite Luster, a star to assist those in need of restoring light."
Fitting for the head of the university. "Thank you Principal Luster."
"Please, call me Lumin, your parents referred to me as that all the time, I insist."
Getting maybe he was too close with my other parents. "I assume the funeral for the three of us will have to be retracted somewhat?"
Lumin gasped to his chagrin. "Oh I never considered that. There will be so much questions about your return. Though the campus will protect your privacy as best as we can."
"Thanks." Questions, not praise. So my parents either are divisive, not hated, at least. "Well it's been so long since I've been here."
"Almost eight years, hasn't it? Tell me, how much do you remember?"
"The basics," bringing up the locales the white coated stranger showed him he claimed he saw when crashing down. "Can I get a crash course to what I've missed since I've been gone?"
"Of course," offering him into his office. "Only the very best. Still, I'd like to know, how did you arrive here? We had assumed your body disappeared only a few years ago."
The doppelganger. "My memory would need a look-through, but I found myself in a different world separate from ours."
"Has your magic power been restored?"
So they know it was taken? "I hadn't had the means to test them."
"Starlight? Maybe," raising his hand, "the portal doesn't usually drain magic. You're vulnerable."
Powerful pounding on the door caught them off guard. Shemar gasped at the increased intensity, backing behind the principal a second before the door burst open, flying towards them. Lumin summoned a sphere of bright light to shield them in time.
A humanoid shape rampaged in. Shemar focused on their lack of physical features, a dark gray-and purple layer body devoid of any humanity, when it launched itself at him.
Almost frozen in fear, he barely leaped away as it crashed into the wall, only to lunge at him with no escape.
A sniff of heat burst through the air, as a foot blocked the creature from Shemar's body, kicking them back into the corner. The room shook as a voice of unknown gender told his savior to move as the room shook, smacking the desk into the air.
Behind the creature, another dark skinned titan punched a fist of air, hurling it into the sky for the colorless body to be crushed by the desk. Shemar watched the fourth and final human that entered the room pin slapping the air as the water from his hands caught them.
The beast opened his mouth, seeing ready to swallow Shemar in a vortex, when another field of wind sent him flying right above them. A staff flew into its face, returning to the person who caught him, wielding a monochrome hat reminiscent of a witch.
"Hey, cutie," the voice of a young woman said, who he looked down to see dark skin.
He blushed as his stomach raced. "Hi," his voice squeaked.
The air striker turned his head. "Ainsley, this a Voidvok or a Constain?'
The ground shaker weaved their hands, forcing them out of the room and the person holding Shemar side-hopping away from the back, "Voidvok, obviously. This one's not as durable."
"Perfect," the shirtless aqua swinger said, glowing blue from his hands to shoot water.
"Cadence, don't use your magic!"
The Voidvok sucked it whole, enhancing their arm into a liquid state, forcing the feisty fire-starter to weave a blade of fire from their hand. The two of them clashed, resulting in steam through the room.
Shemar saw Principal Lumin and the guy blow the air away, as the young lady gleefully kissed her fist, driving it into the Voidvok, who reverted back to a student while its essence ran away. The guards hurried into the room, analyzing it as another student.
"We are so sorry Princess Xia," said two others with scars over their face rushing in to get their friend. One just showed up and started swallowing him."
Xia smacked her red hair, burning fear into them with her orange eyes, going from excited to enraged. "Don't show up to the House of Prometheus with such an excuse! If you had stopped him, we wouldn't have to dirty our hands," blowing her flames away.
"Now, now Heir Hinata, I appreciate your service but there's no need."
"Don't cross me, Lumin," covering her fingers with flame as phones raised up. "Let me remind them why they're here."
As she winded back, her fist was caught by Shemar.
"Thanks for the save, honest. But if that creature is still out there, we should stop it before it targets anyone else."
Xia creaked her hand toward him, akin to a serial killer, her beautiful face contrasting her sinister smile.
"Oh, that magic power. It's you, isn't it," reigniting her flames to increase his sweat. "Hm, you're more like a pet for when I become queen," circling her hands across his throat with flames. He gulped, never thinking he'd discuss if someone had the power to scorch the water in his body in reality.
Why did I jump in? Shit, I'm gonna die.
"Xia, Prince Sehki has returned, why don't you and the others introduce yourselves and show him around."
Principal, you're not gonna jump in, seriously?
His focus returned to Xia, only to end up surrounded by all four heirs.
"Ainsley Spica," said the young androgynous earth shaker, who yawned, putting on their glasses. "Not as special as I thought you'd be."
Apathetic, either smart or near sighted, I kinda like their look.
"Taylor Cadence," flexing his muscles. "Oh great. Please don't be focused on Water Cosmi-Shakti, the House of Poseidon needs less outsiders."
Uh, outsiders? Isn't your friend, turning to the aerokinetic user, not like you at all?
"Rigal Bezek. You look more beta than Centauri."
He's one of those guys, urgh. Wait, Centauri, like Centaurus? How is a centaur weak?
"Xia Hinata, so this is the part where I apologize and you let me go?"
"You expect me to forgive you," extending the flames around his blade.
His mind and head were going to melt, triggering the fire he'd just escaped from. His eyes jittered back and forth.
"Please leave me alone!" He waved his hand, blowing back not just all four heirs several feet back, but the witch's hat and the principal's robes.
All of whom had glares of rage in their eyes.
