Chapter 36: The Betrayal

"What happened to you all?"

"Don't pretend! We saw it," Rigal yelled, showing him the video of someone leading the Voids, who were devouring the bodies of several students and mutating into more human shapes.

"The hell, I wasn't there! Ask the staff at Nabu, we were there this morning and left!"

"That's a lie, Calypsa texted us telling us you just got here!"

"That's a load of crock! Hell, people at the festival just saw us half an hour ago!"

"Is this not you?" Rigal struck open his phone, showing an image of what looked like Sehki, complete in dark robes, bandages, and scars, weaving all four elements in one hand with Voids running past him attacking people at daylight and in the afternoon.

What the heck? "That doesn't make any sense. Hold on, isn't Chameleon and Gemini Magic a thing? Someone's clearly impersonating me!"

"Who else has use of all four elements," Ainsley asked.

Xia shook. "Wait, yeah. Rigal's circle caught you using earth, fire, and water, and you blasted me out of Cal's room the other day with air, didn't you? Hell, only some of the professors could do three at best. You were trying to con us by only taking one course?"

"Are you serious? Sagittarius is my Zodiac! That person had flamethrowers," showing off his attempts to do the same, resulting in a fireball and a small fire ray that barely went far enough to reach them.

"That is pretty beta," Rigal had to admit.

"Don't get caught up in his lies," Taylor countered. "You're the one who stole our powers?"

Annoyed, he groaned. "Okay, question for a question. If I really stole your powers, shouldn't I be much stronger than all of you at this point?"

That left everyone else dumbfounded.

"There's more holes in your logic than a story by an author who was clearly winging it. Guys, we've been on the same side this whole time. You all said before I stole your powers. Yet when we were all younger. But my parents would put me in the same situation as you all when they could've kept me upstairs and then led you all downstairs to steal it? They'd put their child at risk from getting hurt?"

"Don't try to guilt trip us! We couldn't use our powers at all!"

"Because it was stolen by a Void or because you panicked under the pressure and we were kids too afraid to fight an army that attacked us?"

"Xia, I've never even unlocked my StellArts! If that's true, answer me, which one did I use to steal it? I was born a human, not a Void," opening his mouth and swallowing a vortex. "You're all smarter than me, your parents were there, shouldn't they know?!"

All of them turned to one another, trying to make sense of his words.

"Calypsa, please tell them the truth!"

Her eyes sharpened and widened after whispering Lynx, smiling and shaking her head, walking towards the other heirs.

"Huh?"

"Ainsley, Taylor, Rigal, Xia. You all bicker about wanting to live peacefully. If you get rid of him now, you'll be proven right, won't you? You'll never have to hear or worry about those arguments again. After all, your parents would never lie to you."

What is she saying? "Calypsa, what are you saying? Weren't we going to save this world together? Look me in the eye, was that all a lie?"

She refused to, stopping just behind the heirs as they all focused their attention onto her.

"Why would I work with someone too weak to save themselves? You hid and ran for eight years, leaving us to endure everything from that, and you just expect us to believe you?"

Xia was the first to nod, followed by Rigal, then Taylor. Ainsley couldn't bawl the fist but Calypsa whispered something putting them in the same mood. The four walked towards him.

"It's our job to get rid of any threat to Terra."

"We're the alphas of this world. You're the family of cowards!"

"Always keeping secrets to make yourselves the superior nation!"

"All we've wanted was a peaceful life, before you had to ruin it!"

"It's time to get rid of you," they all spoke in unison, rushing at him. "Once and for all!"

Sehki jumped away, spinning a whip of fire Xia caught, pulling him towards them, punching a scorching fireball burning off the hair on his arms. He attempted to slash it away, only for Rigal to spike it with a burst of wind.

He screamed as the flame enhanced air pressure roasted most of his body, saved from becoming a smoldering mess by Taylor flying and dragging him through the air and submerging him in the water covering his body.

Covering his face in a bubble of hot air barely gave him time to cover his fists in air to block Taylor's heavy fists, about to strike him back when the hand of a golem caught him.

The terror in his eyes as Rigal and Taylor's hands slashed the air, constructing the similar whirlpool that trapped him months back. Dirt-made cuffs covered his hands when he thrusted his hands with fire and air elemental energy, staring Ainsley head on.

"Ainsley, please, you know better! Bethany said-"

"I don't care about her," crushing their hands. Sehki's body was dragged high enough for them to see his face while his body was moved all the way towards the cliff. The whirlpool started diminishing in size and sphere, able to see the scale of the massive drop.

Tying my limbs to a magic brick while they drop, think think, failing to struggle through the mental corrosion of his impending demise. The wind and water were barely hovering him in the air when Xia prepared the two handed fireball.

"Calypsa!"

She barely tilted her head, swinging her staff back. Ainsley dropped the restraints. Calypsa opened her mouth when Xia hurled it.

"Goodbye, Shemar Thomas."

His mind and heart shattered more than the blazing sphere melting his face and sending him plummeting from the cliff.
