Chapter 23: Cleansing Doubts

Sehki rejected that notion. "You just want to wipe out an entire dorm just to stop Voidvoks?"

Taylor pinned him to the tree bark. "The whole world is watching us struggle with you in this way. If you're working with them," ripping open fin laced with water around it aiming at his neck. "I'll wash you away with them."

Would this be hot if I was a girl or bi? Wait, why the hell would I want anyone to be in this situation? "I literally just helped you take down a giant crow beast!"

"That was all me," his shout claimed as he manifested a large vortex of water from the moisture in the air, sucking Sehki in. The hands and feets flailed in vain attempts to escape being spun around, almost being slammed into a tree. Helpless to slip his entire body was slipping into the water, he tried constructing earth around his feet to pull himself out, knowing he couldn't swim.

Rigal joined in. "This is for hurting Ainsley," punching him out of the vortex with a fist of air pressure, and increasing the wind velocity of the whirlpool, lowering his hand to drop it on him.

"Wait, I'm trying to say use your powers to pull them out of the woods and finish them off in the air. If you destroy the dorm, they'll just use the debris to hide themselves!"

"No one asked you," Xia shouted, about to hurl a fireball at him.

"Enough!"

Calypsa's voice yelled, pointing to the newscopter nearby. "Get rid of the Voids first," blowing Sehki to her with her staff. "Bully later. Ainsley, can Sehki's plan work?"

"If we don't treat this as a contest of measuring egos, it's worth a shot."

"Why should we listen to him?"

Calypsa wrapped her hands around Rigal's neck.

"I'll play with whoever stops the most amount of Voids all-night-long," in a calm tone all of them could hear.

Rigal's eyes lowered. "Oh, now I'm looking forward to that," only for Taylor to reach at his shoulders.

"Please, I'm gonna win. But we could share if we tie," earning smug agreement.

The two combined forces to re-create the swirling whirlpool of air and water magic. Taking Ainsley's suggestion to condense it into a smaller form, they maneuvered it around every tree and vicinity, pulling back and collecting several Voidvoks airborne from the entrance.

"Mine," jumping at the horde when Xia smirked, bouncing off their shoulders.

"Hey!"

"Never forget," waving her hands with glee and igniting them before crossing her hands to incinerate them, erasing them from existence. "I'm the strongest," laughing.

Sehki snickered at Rigal and Taylor's rage, enjoying his skin soothing from the breeze of their attacks, cooling the air from Xia's onslaught while the three battled in mid-air to get rid of the rest of them.

Ainsley told him and Calypsa to follow them until they got to the dorm, not finding anything there. Sehki let them in, but they couldn't find anything.

"See, told ya! But why did the Voids attack the city and the school at once? Wait, this was their plan!"

"What are you implying?"

"Cusp Central is close to CU, so it'd make sense they'd expect the militia or us to stop them. But if we only went to one, the other would be more vulnerable! A divide and conquer strategy! We were just lucky we did the same."

"Why were in the city, anyway?"

"Uh," think think, aha, "well I felt bad for hurting you and was looking around for a gift to say sorry," stop cracking your voice me, "haha. Too bad they got in the way of that."

Ainsley blinked. "Oh....how unusually considerate of you."

"How bad was I as a child."

Calypsa chuckled, briefly gazing around. Don't tell me he's using - I guess I'll have to work a bit harder.

The security guards were able to help reduce the rest of the Voids as they watched their essence disappear. However, Sehki counted up to thirty students in need of medical attention. Bethany took Ainsley back and led the other nurses to get them to safety while others needed medical attention from outside hospitals coming in from hovercars.

They asked everyone to return back home, while the heirs and Calypsa grew relieved it was over, all of whom turned to her.

"So who wins?"

"Oh that's easy Prince Sehki."

He was just as dumbfounded as them.
"How, he didn't do anything!"

"Well, at Cusp Central he took down more than went into the forest and you all shared kills. Plus Ainsley did more defeat since you let your frat fight them instead, right Taylor?"

Her sly words caught him off guard. "But you said who stops the most number of Voids here?"

"All-night-long," pulling Sehki away and handing Ainsley another vitamin, claiming it'd be a bad look if he stayed in Erebus as the last known location.

The other four stayed behind while Ainsley grinned. "She played you all."

"Whatever, did you get any footage of him," Taylor asked Rigal.

He checked his phone. "No, he wasn't here. But if he wasn't here why did the Voids go to his dorm?"

Xia cracked her fists. "He's hiding something."

Ainsley yawned. "Just let it go."

"He beat you up!"

"And helped us stop to the Voids," staring at Candy and Bodin with a bit of annoyance. "Better than some of us. Something's up."

At Calypsa's dorm, he collapsed on her bed, nearly drained. He pulled out his old phone, using the new tech initially to text Valenca.

However, it never went through, prompting him to make a Google Docs named: Valencia: I'm Alive, trying to write down everything that's happened as possible before his eyes closed. Calypsa grabbed his hand, reading it, and grinned.

When he woke up, he found his phone next to the pillow and Calypsa writing on a notepad, altering her.

"What are you working on?"

"N-nothing," as she accidentally dropped it into his hand. He winced, grabbing and checking it out. "Oh, it's a romance story?"

He smiled while reading her writing snippets.

"Wait, you like it? You don't come off as a romance enthusiast."

"I love romance just as much as action," reading more. "So that explains why you're such a bad flirt," earning her light punch.

"It's complicated," hiding her face. "I just love Perseus and Andromeda Day. Every February it's really nice to celebrate their first ancestors who fell in love while fighting a corrupted Cetus."

"What happened?"

"Back then, Andromeda wasn't a legendary hero, but Perseus managed to help her turn the chains that imprisoned her into her own weapons. She became her own fae," loosening her legs. Her eyes sparkled with earnesty. "That's the type of fae I want to be."

His face flourished around the same time as his heart. "You-uh, make me feel like Andromeda sometime. Do you want to be queen?"

"Mostly to be able to save this world rather than see its destruction."

That look in her eyes. She really wants this. If she trains me and I stay, pft, as if I could be a king. But if I did, maybe.

"Why are you staring at me? Want to be a frog so I can kiss you this time?"

He sucked his teeth, but calmed down. Today ended strong. "I mean, I kinda want you to."

Calypsa gave him a tender smile, kissing her palm and touching his cheek.

"When I feel like it. Tomorrow, you'll have a hard examination."

He looked down at his feet, ready to improve the other magic elements.

"Not that kinda hard," pointing at his erection much to his dismay.

"Not that," closing his eyes and pulling the covers over while Calypsa laughed, slipping next to him as they fell asleep.
