Chapter 2: Awakening
I woke up from my deep slumber from the sound of rain pouring down outside my window. I looked at my clock and saw that it was only 6:00 AM. I had more than an hour to get ready and go to school. Right when I was about to go to sleep again, I remembered the significant event which happened just a few hours ago. A small part of me felt a little apprehensive, for as much as I was confident in not being chosen, there was still a slight possibility. So, after I dragged my body out of bed, I took a quick look at myself. To my eyes, I didn't have anything different about me. My height still the same at 5'4", and I don't seem to have acquired any abnormalities such as an extra arm or toe. "See? Nothing to worry about Celea," I said out loud to myself as I began to dress for the school day.
As I started to get out of my room, I stole a glance of my dressed form in the mirror. With my usual dark blue hoodie pulled over my hair, and a pair of slightly tattered blue jeans, I looked like I did any regular day. With a sigh of relief, I proceeded to walk out of the door, when I caught a flash of silver in the mirror. It disappeared as soon as I caught a glimpse of it, which made me wonder if I was hallucinating. Oh well, I'm still sleepy anyways, I thought as I decided to ignore what I just saw. Still, as I walked towards the kitchen to get a small morning snack, I couldn't help feeling a little wary and scared. By the time I was at the coffee machine, my hands were practically trembling in fear.
Oh, for goodness sake's, stop this at once Celea! I mentally scolded myself as I moved towards the dish rack for a new cup. But just as I grabbed the cup and started back towards the machine, my shaky hands accidentally dropped the delicate piece of porcelain. At the same moment, however, I felt a sudden burning sensation throughout my entire body as I instinctively grabbed for the falling cup. Right before it hit the ground, I caught the cup by its handle. If it was any other day, I would have been cheering my head off at my brilliant save, but for some reason, it just didn't seem right. How had I caught the cup in a matter of seconds? And what was the burning sensation I felt? Shaking my head, I decided to take a quick nap before anything else happened. I must really be tired. Upon entering my room again, I dragged myself to my bed and immediately landed face-down on my soft blankets. With a heavy heart, I slowly went to sleep.
