Another trip by car, another hunt. The brunette girl in the Impala's backseat watched Sam, in the front seat of her, waiting for him to flutter in his dreams again, every now and then turning his attention to the other Winchester, who also checked Sam every minute. And whenever he could look at the girl in the rearview mirror.

"At least I just have to worry about one of you while you're sleeping," Dean said looking at her in the rearview mirror, and when he pulled Nova's attention to him, he smiled. "You sleep like an angel, I do not have to worry about your nightmares." Nova laughed.

"You're a good liar," Evie said. "But not for me." She finished with a smile

The two hunters looked at each other for a little while, this was broken when Sam gasped and fired up. Nova and Dean who were now looking at Sam, saw their eyes wide, looking around in panic, and he only calmed down when he saw Dean next to him, in the Impala and safe. He blinked a few times before rubbing his eyes. "You okay?" Dean asked Sam.

Sam nodded, scrutinizing him, his gaze still confused as he moved to the backseat, seeing Nova's worried face, he said again. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Want to drive for a while?" Dean offered.

Sam's head returned to look at him, and Nova leaned forward slowly between the seats. The girl looked between the two brothers and exclaimed "Yes!" She knew the proposal was not aimed at her, but she tried anyway. "If he does not want to, I'll take!"

Sam just laughed. "In your whole life, you never once asked me that."

Dean shrugged, bringing his focus back onto the road. "Just thought you might want to. Never mind."

"I can still drive, you know." Nova murmured.

Dean's eyebrows knocked over and he glanced back at the rearview mirror with a glow. "Hey, you can't blame a girl for trying." Nova said

Sam laughed again before stretching his arms. "Look, guys, you're worried about me. I get it and thank you, but I'm perfectly okay." Nova glanced at Dean, who focused on the road. Sam picked up the map lying on the dashboard. "Where are we?"

"We are just outside of Grand Junction." Dean said.

Sam folded the map to get a better view of where they were going. The map of Colorado contained a red X in section 35-111, exactly as it had been scrawled in John's diary. "You know what?" He said suddenly. He did not look up, knowing exactly what the reaction of others would be like. "Maybe we shouldn't have left Stanford so soon."

Nova and Dean knew they would not get anywhere by staying in that area. "Sam," said Nova. "We dug there for at least a week. We did not find anything."

"If you want to find the thing that killed Jessica..." Dean began.

Sam cut him off and nodded. "Got to find dad first. I know."

"With John gone," Nova began. "And with this thing appearing again after twenty years, I don't think it's a coincidence, John will have answers, he'll know what to do."

Sam nodded. "Is weird". He said, looking at the map. "These coordinates he gave us, this Black Water Ridge. There's nothing there. It's just wood."

"Why is he sending us to the middle of nowhere?" Dean asked.

A while later the three arrived at the destination and were at the station of a ranger looking for more information about the place. Sam was analyzing a map of the forest hanging on the wall, where it showed mainly the mountains. "So Black Water Ridge is pretty remote."

Nova was at his side reading the information at the bottom. "It's cut down by these canyons here ..." She pointed. "And there is rugged terrain, dense forest, as well as silver and gold mines abandoned all over the place."

Behind them, Dean whispered. "Dude, check out the size of this friggin' bear."

Nova frowned in confusion at Dean's comment as she turned to him immediately, her expression changed to surprise when she saw Dean pointing to a framed photograph on the wall. There was a man standing behind a huge bear.

"And a dozen or more grizzlies in the area," Sam commented as he joined them. "It's not a nature hike, that's for sure."

Unknown to the three, the local guard passed through the door moments ago. He frowned when he saw the three young men looking at maps. It was obvious to him that they were interested in hiking there.

"You kids are not planning to go to Blackwater Water Ridge, by any chance?" He asked.

The three of them were startled by the unexpected entry of the guard. "Oh, no, sir," Sam said with a polite smile. "We are environmental study majors from U.C. Boulder, just working on a paper."

Nova agreed quickly with what Sam said. She is relieved that Sam invented something before Dean said something that would get them in trouble.

Dean touched his fist in the air. "Recycle, man."

"Bullshit." The ranger interrupted, convinced he knew what was happening. The hunters were frozen in their positions. All Nova could think of was how this ranger discovered so quickly?

"You're friends with this Haley girl, right?" The ranger asked.

Nova considered this the quickest way to escape at the moment, and then decided to go with him. She smiled and gave a fake sigh. "You got us, Ranger..." She looked at his badge. "Wilkinson."

"Well, I'll tell you exactly what I told her." The ranger said impatiently. "Her brother filed out a backcountry permit saying he wouldn't be back from Black Water until the twenty-fourth. So it's not exactly a missing person now, is it?"

Sam exchanged a look with the brunette at his side, they both thought the same, a boy who did not come back from the dangerous forest, maybe that's why John sent them there.

Dean shook his head, adamantly, following the story as well. The ranger looked at Dean steadily. "You tell this girl to stop worrying, I'm sure your brother is fine."

"We will," Dean said. "Well, Haley's girl is quite a pistol, huh?" Sam sent Dean a warning look. The ranger nodded. "That's right."

Nova's face brightened when she had an idea, needed to know more about this girl, she settled into place and drew her attention as she cleared her throat. "Actually, you know what would help, is if I could show her a copy of that backcountry license." The guard raised his eyebrows. "You know, so she can see her brother's return date."

A quick drive led them to Haley Collins's house. Nova stepped forward from the Winchester and up the steps, buzzing at the doorbell. A dark-haired girl soon arrived at the door looking at the girl in front of her skeptically.

"You must be Haley Collins," Nova said. "I'm Nova, this is Sam and Dean, we're Rangers with the park service. Wilkinson sent us over."

Haley looked at her expectantly, Dean soon came in front of the girl with an excuse that would work for the hunters.

"We wanted to ask you some questions about your brother, Tommy." Dean finished.

Haley narrowed his eyes at them. "Let me see some ID." Dean pulled out one of his fake IDs and flashed a dazzling smile at Haley. After analyzing the ID, Haley nodded. She opened the door, smiling cautiously at the three of them. "Come on in."

"Thanks." Dean said gratefully. The screen door was also opened, giving Haley a vision of the Impala behind Sam's head.

"That yours?" She questioned Dean.

"Yeah" Dean smiled.

"Nica car." Haley said, admiration in his tone. Dean stepped behind the girl as Sam followed him and he could hear Nova mutter. "We lost him. She loves baby." Despite his pain, Sam could not help but smile.

They were led into a kitchen where a young boy was sitting at the table tinkering with a laptop. He was about sixteen and looked up as the three strangers entered the room.

"Hey." Nova said, waving her fingers at him. He ignored her, looking at the laptop.

"Ooh yay, teenagers being teenagers." Nova said. Sam and Dean exchanged a look with the girl, who was a little annoyed at the teenager who had ignored him.

"So, if Tommy's not due back for a while, how do you know something is wrong?" Sam asked Haley as she returned to the kitchen, carrying a bowl in her arms.

"He checks in every day by a cell. He e-mail us pictures, stupid little videos ..." Haley interrupted, his eyes filled with emotion. "We haven't heard anything in over three days now."

"Maybe he can't get the reception." Nova said, thinking it would be a comfort to the girl.

"He's got a satellite phone, too." Haley added firmly.

"Could it be he's just having fun and forgot to check in?" Dean said casually.

"He wouldn't do that." Haley's younger brother exclaimed, distracting the brunette and her thoughts as to why John would send them there.

Haley set another plate on the table and looked at the three of them. "It's just my two brothers and me." Haley said quietly. "Our parents are gone. We all keep pretty close tabs to each other."

Nova was standing there thinking, trying to figure out why John would send them to this place and where he would be at that moment. Without realizing the girl automatically had already walked out of the house toward the impala. "Are you alright?" Dean asked approaching the girl with Sam behind him.

She straightened into place. "You get anything on Tommy?"

"We may have it." Sam said quickly

"OK, what is it?" Nova asked right away.

"I downloaded that guy Tommy's video to the laptop." Sam said, adjusting his laptop.

The video showed the boy Tommy talking to his sister, everything was normal until the last two pictures, where there was a flash of a shadow in the background.

"What was that? Play again." Said Nova, she'd seen something like this before.

Sam repeated the same seconds and looked at Nova. Before the girl could say anything, Dean said.

"That's three frames. It's a fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is, it can move." Dean hit Sam's chest and Sam looked at him with a wry look. "I told you something was going on here." Dean said he was right for a change.

"Yeah." Sam shrugged, not wanting to admit he was wrong. He closed the laptop and bought a sheet of paper. "I got one more thing." he said, passing an old newspaper article to Nova.

Quickly, the hunter studied the article in her hands and then opened the laptop for further investigation. "Well, okay, at fifty-nine a camper survived this so-called grizzly attack, just a kid ... Evil crawled out of the living forest ..."

"Is there a name?" Dean asked.
