Chapter 9

Hey everyone. It's me again. Sorry I'm late for the next update. Was just thinking about what I was gonna do next. Well, the wait is over. Hope you enjoy the chapter.

When Saphira is talking in thought: 'eragon'

When they are talking in thought: ' '

When Braydën is talking in thought: 'eragon'

(Several Months Later)

Young Arya observed silently as Sansa swung her sword, to which Eragon blocked it with his own blade. He pushed the blade forward, causing Sansa back as he then swung up, causing her to nearly lose her blade as he knelt and swiped his leg, causing her to fall down. Sansa let out a groan as Eragon smirked and held out a hand, offering to help her up.

"You're doing better Sansa. When we first started out, you wouldn't have lasted a second. Now you can last if not win against a trained opponent."

She smirked as he looked at her confused. She then swung her body, causing her legs to clip his while also launching herself onto her feet. As he regained his wits, Sansa had her blade at his throat. "Well, it will be soon enough where I can stand against you and Arya."

He groaned, to which caused Sansa to giggle. "I wish Arya never taught you that. It's effective, but also deceiving." He pushed the blade to the side and stood. "You're doing well Sansa. You can now properly defend yourself in combat. Not only that, but your training in magic is going well as well. Now," he stopped as he put his and her training swords away and looked back at her. "How is your bond with Braydën?"

He saw as she smiled as he looked back at him as she thought of her partner. "It's going great. However, he is beginning to get a little annoying." He raised a brow at her response. "How so?" She sighed as she though about her growing relationship with her bonded partner dragon. "He can't help but tease me about small things, about how I'm becoming like my little sister Arya or how I have been changing these past few months. Plus, he can't help but gush out about how much he enjoy his time with Saphira."

She then heard a deep voice enter her mind. 'You're one to talk little one. Lately, I have to ignore you when you go off about how much you like Eragon.' She blushes as she retorted back to the laughing dragon. 'I do not like him Big Green.' He scoffs as he responded. 'Keep telling yourself that little one.'

She blushes again as she looks at Eragon who was talking to Arya as she was watching from the sidelines. She spoke in though only to Braydën. 'Maybe I do. But I doubt he shares does as well.' The dragon chuckles, knowing something she doesn't, but doesn't say anything as she closes the link.

Throughout it all, Lord Stark was watching as his daughter finished training for the day, and he can't help but think about how much has changed. It's been several months ago since Eragon, Arya and Saphira have arrived in Winterfell and ever since, the scope of things haven't been what he thought.

His daughter Sansa, who before their arrival and the hatching of her dragon Braydën, who would have never even thought about picking up a weapon and learn how to fight and was learning to be a lady, now became a younger red-headed version of his sister Lyanna. She is still learning to be a Lady, but she prefers to be out training in swordfighting as well horseback riding. But her most favorite activity besides learning magic was when she first rode Braydën for the first time. He was worried but because of Eragon, who was there the whole time, his worries were relieved.

They found out the dragon's name a few months after the dragon had hatched when she was speaking to the dragon and when Lord Stark had heard what she had named the dragon, he smiled widely at her reasoning. He remembered with a smile as she told him that she named the dragon after her late uncle Brandon Stark. It made him so happy that she did so in memory of an uncle she had never met.

Thinking of Braydën, he couldn't help but think about how big the dragon has become in the amount of time that has passed since it had hatched. No where near as big as Saphira, but Braydën is now big enough to where Sansa can ride him, but he's still growing. He was astonished when Eragon told them that the dragon's keep growing even at full maturity.

Thinking about Eragon, Lord Stark can't help but think about the looks his daughter have been giving Eragon, looks he knew all to well. He knew for a while that his oldest daughter has feelings for the slightly older Rider, but he didn't know if he felt the same. Something told himself that Eragon does as well as he saw the looks that were thrown her way when she giggled or laughed, but he wasn't too sure.

He told himself that he won't make the same mistakes his father had made. If his children were to marry, it would be for love and not duty. He has a feeling that one will court the other, but he again wasn't sure. But he was sure of one thing. If Sansa does admit that she likes him or vice versa, he would support them. Especially for everything that he has learned about Eragon and what he has done for them.

His thoughts were disturbed when his Lady Stark joined him. He looked down and realized that Sansa was no longer training with Eragon and Arya, but instead was watching as Robb and Jon were helping young Bran with learning how to shoot a bow. He watched as Bran missed a shot, which caused the Theon to laugh as Robb just snorted.

"Great shot Bran." Theon said as Bran just glared at him. Jon just shooked his head as he gave Bran another arrow. "Try again Bran." Bran nodded as he pulled back and aimed at the target. He shot again and again missed. They were all startled when they heard a deep voice.

"And which one of you was a great shot at 9?" They all looked up and saw that Lord was watching. "Keep trying Bran. You'll hit it soon enough." Bran nodded as he grabbed another arrow. He pulled back aimed again at the target. Before he let loose, another arrow was shot and landed dead center of the target. They all turned saw that it was little Arya who fired the arrow.

To even further mock Bran, she bowed. Everyone laughed while Lord Stark just smiled as Bran dropped his bow and then chased after his sister, while Robb and Theon encouraged him. Lady Stark just sighed as she watched what happening down below, which caused Lord Stark to look at her. Before he could say anything, they were interrupted when Ser Rodrik and Maester Luwin both walked up to them.

"My Lord." Ser Rodrik bowed as Maester Luwin spoke. "There was a Raven. Patrol has captured a deserter of the Night's Watch." Lord Stark sighed as he nodded. "Very well. Assemble a group of men and we'll set off. Bring Bran and Sansa. Also get Eragon and Lady Arya as well." Ser Rodrik nodded as he bowed before walking away.

Lady Stark protested immediately. "Ned, the boy is still too young for that." Lord Stark disagreed as he faced her. "He's come of age to understand the way of the world. He must bear witness." She sighed as she nodded. "But what of Sansa? You know that this will affect her." He nodded as he looked down at his daughter who was practicing with a bow. "Normally I would agree. However, she's not going to be a full lady anymore. Also, she's going to have to understand about life and death, as she will unfortunately will have to take a life herself eventually. She must bear witness."

Lady Stark sighed as she walked away, but not before glaring at Jon. Lord Stark knew about that as well, but chose to shrug it off and looked back at Sansa. "This world is changing. I fear of what will come from it." He looked up as he saw a little bit of snow fall gently from the sky. "Winter is coming. And I'm afraid of what will fall when it does." He let out a sigh as he turned and began walking away towards the stables, prepping himself for what he will have to do.

And that's it. Sorry it took me so long. I hoped you like this chapter. I will post the next one as possible. Until next time. :)-Weeksjmj
