When Saphira is talking in thought: 'eragon'
When they are talking in thought: ' '
Next Day
The morning was rough for Lady Sansa, being thrown in the dirt once again by Arya, who just shrugged her shoulder, still getting use to the rough edge of the dull sword. Arya placed her free hand on her hip as she sighed. "Get up Sansa." Sansa slowly got up, rubbing her backside in annoyance as she picked up her training sword.
Upon realizing that she had to learn how to defend herself, now that she is now a Dragon Rider, she knew that she had to do whatever she had to do to get strong. A few days ago, she wouldn't be having these thoughts. Then again, a few days ago, she wasn't a Dragon Rider. Now that she is one, she knew that she could never be a proper lady, though she will still dedicate herself to her studies. However, she also knew that she will become, in a way, like her aunt Lyanna Stark: a warrior.
Which is why, after breaking her fast, instead of being with septa for her lessons, she's in the courtyard with Arya and Eragon, while her father and mother watch from the balcony. When Theon saw the redhead out of in the courtyard with a sword in her hand, he was at first stunned, but it shortly turned to laughter, which immediately was silenced when Arya gave a stern look. "She may be a newbie to the sword, but she'll soon be even tougher than you."
Eragon sighed at how true Arya's statement was. The bond between dragon and Rider is unique and powerful. Through the bond, even without training, the Rider will get stronger. However, as he learned first hand, without someone to train the Rider, they would become a liability. He shook his head at some of the memories that he remembered and continued to watch as Arya yet again threw Sansa into the dirt. He watched as Arya scowled when Theon snorted and then let out a chuckle. Eragon then immediately glared at Theon's next statement.
"Girls shouldn't be out here in the first place. Their place is either learning to serve a man or keeping their nails clean. A training yard isn't a place for a girl, much less a woman." Lord Stark narrowed his eyes as Lady Stark scoffed in anger at how he was talking about her daughter. Eragon noticed this and looked at Arya, who was glaring hard at the boy. Before Arya could retort, Eragon stepped forward.
"That mouth will get you in trouble one day." He looked at the rack and grabbed a random training sword. He tested the edge as he flipped it around his hand. He then pointed the blade at Theon. "Let's see if your skills can back up that mouth of yours." Theon scoffed as he lift his training sword and got in a stance. "Very well pretty boy."
Eragon decided to not adopt a stance and just stood there as Theon moved around him, waiting for an opening. Not finding any, Theon surged forward, swinging his sword at Eragon diagonally towards his left shoulder. Eragon didn't even look at him as he effortlessly lift his sword and blocked the strike. Everyone was stunned as Eragon not only didn't even turn his head but also blocked the strike so easily. Eragon turn his head and looked at Theon, who was struggling to push the blade forward.
"You left yourself open." Suddenly, he moved his sword and a very quick twist, turn towards Theon. In doing so, he swung his sword downward in a diagonal angle, striking Theon's legs. The force of the strike caused Theon to flip over and land on his back. Gasps came all around as Robb, Jon and See Rodrik Cassel eyes widen at how fast Eragon took down Theon. Even Lord Stark raised an eyebrow at that. Theon just laid there, stunned.
"What just happened?" He said as Robb came over and helped him up. "You just got dropped by a single move." Robb chortled, trying to not laugh at his expense. Eragon sighed as he spoke. "Robb, Jon. Your turn. Show me your skills." Robb nodded to Jon as they both unsheathed their training swords. They began circling Eragon, who like before, stood there waiting for their first moves.
Not finding any openings, Robb decided to make the first move, lunging forward, swinging his sword in a diagonal angle aiming for Eragon's side. Seeing Robb move, Jon decided to follow suit, aiming a horizontal slash towards Eragon's waist. Eragon then sidestepped the slash from Robb. Then a fluid motion, he swung his blade upward, striking Jon blade to go up, clipping Robbs left arm. He then grabbed Jon's neck and threw him into Robb sending them both into the dirt.
They sat up and stared at Eragon as he swung his blade in a wheel like motion. "Well done Jon. Seeking to follow Robb suit, making a strike to back him up in the event his strike missed. However, that only works when the opponent isn't either agile or was expecting that to happen." He then motioned towards Theon. "Now, let's have you three come at me at once."
Theon snorted as Robb and Jon stood up. The three then began circling Eragon, who just stood there just like before, not taking up a stance. It unnerved the three at how relaxed Eragon was, even whilst being surrounded by three people. Being the over confident one, Theon struck first, only to be knocked down by a strike to the back of his head, sending him into the dirt once again. Robb and Jon struck at the same, causing Eragon to block both of their strikes at the same time.
Robb and Jon were both stunned at how Eragon was able to block both of their strikes while at the same time holding them both back with his sword. "Good job Robb, Jon. Attacking at the same time is smart, since it would make your opponent think about where you're both gonna strike. However," He moved his sword to the end of both of their swords and then twisted it, causing both blades to turn and be trapped by his blade. "If caught, disarming you both will be a lot easier." He then slammed his other hand on top of his own, forcing the swords away from Robb and Jon's grasp, properly disarming them.
Robb and Jon were both stunned as Eragon swung low, clipping their legs and cussing them to fall. Throughout all of this Lord Stark just grabbed his chin, continuing to observed them. 'If I didn't know any better, he was training them without them even knowing.' He continued on observing as Robb and Jon slowly get back up as Theon stayed on one knee. Eragon just stood there, not even moving.
Lord Stark must admit. He was impressed with how skilled Eragon was, to best three train boys around his age as if was nothing. He knew that it was wise for him to train his daughter now more than before. A light bulb just went off in his head as a thought came to him. 'I wonder.' He nodded as he then began his way to the training ground.
Eragon watched as Robb and Jon finally get up and grabbed their training swords as Theon grabbed his sword whilst stayed on one knee. He heard clapping as he saw Lord Stark approach them. "Impressive Eragon, to be able to take on three opponents at once." He then crossed his arms. "And yet, I wonder what you can do if the odds are greater than they are now."
He then stepped towards the sword racks and picked one up and swung it, testing it. Ser Rodrik Cassel couldn't help but grimace. "My Lord, shouldn't this be enough." He said it as a statement rather than a question. "It's fine Ser Rodrik. I think young Eragon can handle it. I'm curious to see how he will handle the situation when instead of three opponents," He motioned to Ser Jory, who picked up a training sword. "There are six opponents, you included."
Ser Rodrik sighed as he picked his training sword and looked at Eragon. "Will you be alright?" Eragon smiled as he nodded. "Thanks for the concern, Ser Rodrik, but I'll be fine." Ser Rodrik nodded as everyone surrounded Eragon. Eragon decided to take a stance, since he knew that he'll have to be serious.
Everyone began circling Eragon, who was also watching them, waiting for them to make a move. Robb and Jon decided to follow Lord Stark's example and observe their opponent. Lord Stark then motion for Ser Jory to strike first. Ser Jory nodded as he rushed forward with Ser Rodrik follow suit both swinging their blades horizontally towards Eragon's head. Eragon dodged Ser Jory's strike while also blocking Ser Rodrik's strike with his sword. Theon decided to strike while Eragon was distracted, sending a strike to his abdomen.
Seeing this, Eragon leaped back, while diverting Rodrik's blocked sword towards Theon, causing Ser Rodrik to intercept Theon's strike causing Ser Rodrik to grunt in pain. With seeing Theon distracted, Eragon cartwheeled, sending a fierce kick to Theon's face, sending him into the ground. At the same time coming back up, Eragon sent an upward strike to Ser Rodrik with his sword, sending him frying into the air which ended with him falling on his back.
Nodding to each other, Lord Stark, Robb and Jon lunge forward. Eragon blocked Lord Stark's strike while dodging Robbs and leaping away to avoid Jon's blow. He then threw the sword into his left and swung low, aiming for Jon's mid section while also grabbing a hold of Robb's sword arm and throwing him towards Ser Jory who lunge forward to do a vertical strike. Eragon's strike connected with Jon's side, causing him to let out a loud grunt of pain as he was sent into the dirt. Robb was thrown into Ser Jory, causing both of them to not only collide, but to also fall into the dirt on top of each other. This left Lord Stark as his only opponent still standing.
After a couple of seconds, both men lunge forward, land blows after blows onto each other's blades as they tried out move their opponent. The bout lasted for about a few minutes, when Eragon saw Lord Stark strike towards his left leg. Blocking his blow, Eragon twisted his blade and thoroughly disarmed Lord Stark, and then placed the blade at Lord Stark, causing everyone to freeze.
Lord Stark smirked as he smiled. "Very impressive Eragon. Not only did you take on six opponents, me included, but you also defeated us. Not bad at all." Eragon nodded as he removed his blade away from Lord Stark's neck. "You all are well skill at combat." He then looked at Theon. "Well, most of you do." Theon scowled as he saw Eragon look at him when he said that. Lord Stark picked up his blade and placed in on the rack as did Ser Jory. He then looked at Eragon. "And yet, through our bout, I couldn't help but noticed that you was holding back a lot."
Everyone's eyes widen when he said this. But some let out gasps as go when Eragon nodded. "Indeed I was. Given my position, to which you know, if I we're to go all out, even with training swords, I would most likely taken your lives." Lord Stark nodded. He knew how his blows felt. If that was a real fight, his life would've ended.
Eragon then looked at Sansa, who watched the whole thing with wife eyes. "Sansa, after our way of training, you could be this good as well." She smiled as he looked at Lord Stark. Eragon then heard a cough, turning his attention to Arya who approached him with a drawn sword.
"Eragon, let's spar. We haven't sparred in a while." He chuckled as he picked up a fresh training sword. "Last time we sparred, you still beat me." He said, causing everyone's eyes to widen, especially Lord Stark's. "Well, you gotten stronger since then. Also, we must show Sansa here what she can achieve when she does our training." He nodded as Arya looked towards Sansa. "Watch our spar, Sansa. Someday, you'll be like this as well."
Sansa nodded as Eragon and Arya took fighting positions across from each other. He nodded to her as she spoke. "Do it." They both lift their blades and began chanting in the Ancient Language. As they did so, their blades began to glow. As they stopped chanting, the glow faded away. Lord Stark looked on in wonder. "What was that?" Eragon looked at him. "We cast an endurance spell and a strengthening spell. With our full strength, these blades would brake upon contact." He said, stunning the crowd.
Eragon then looked at her. "Ready?" She nodded as he looked back at Lord Stark. "Enjoy the show." He then looked back at her as they both got into fighting stances. The two just stood there for what seemed like forever when it was a few minutes. Then they moved at fast speeds towards each. When their swords met, a loud clanging sound was heard, causing everyone watching to grimace. After the first strike, the next ones were nothing but a blur, moving so fast that the two opponents were nothing but large blurs. The movements and strikes from the two were causing the very air to be pushed towards the onlookers.
Lord Stark, as well.as everyone watching had wide eyes as felt the wind from their strikes. "They're so fast. They're literally causing wind to be created from their strikes. So strong." Lord Stark felt a tremor of fear as realization started to set in. "Eragon was right." Robb looked at him while grimacing from the wind cause
Ed by the two opponents. "What do you mean Father?" Lord Stark looked at him as he turn back towards the blur of a fight. "Eragon was holding back by a lot. If he actually went full out like he is now against us, none of us would've survive." He words cause everyone, besides Sansa to look at him with wide eyes.
Speaking of Sansa, she was watching the whole fight. Unlike the others, for some reason, she could see some of the fight. She put it down to her slowly changes and her situation to be the cause of how she can slightly keep up with what she is seeing. She felt excitement for what she saw. Normally, fighting would turn her off, but now that she is different, this incredible fight got her wanting to train and become stronger.
The fight lasted for almost 30 minutes before their eyes widen as the blurred fighting cleared when one of the opponents was sent flying towards the stone wall, causing them to crash into the wall. The impact broke the stone wall, leaving a large crater. They looked at where the fight started and saw the victor panting. They heard a loud groan as Eragon came out of dusty crater he created from his impact.
"Damn it Arya, you didn't have to hit me that hard." Arya, who stood up and took a deep breath. She dropped her sword, which shattered as it hit the ground. "Well, I had to get you with the surprise attack, else you would've won." He scoffed as he dropped his sword, which also shattered. "I'll get you next time Arya."
Everyone was stunned at what they saw. Not only did they see someone get hit so hard that they created a crater in a stone wall, but to walk away from it as it was nothing left them unfathomed. Lord Stark had to wipe his eyes to see if he saw correctly. He then looked at his daughter, he realized that one day, shell be on their level.
He smiled at that. 'Under their training, she'll be able to protect herself.' He then stepped forward. "Well done Eragon, Arya. You two are very strong. Much stronger than us. It seems my daughter is in safe hands." They both nodded as they approached Sansa. As they did, Arya picked up a new sword.
"So, ready to get back to training?"
Welp, that's the end of that. That was a long chapter. I hoped you guys liked it. Sorry it took me so long. Anyways, the next chapter will be up as soon as possible. It's good bye for now. Until next time my friends. :)-Weeksjmj
