Chapter 4- His Butler Capricious
Celeste POV
Ciel and Sebastian dragged me to town after a load of dresses arrived to the manor a week ago. Instead of Ciel buying me one dress, he bought me a wardrobe of dresses. He had Sebastian pack a trunk for me saying that I couldn't do it. Last time I checked I could tie my boots into place and put my clothes on without much help.
The carriage ride to the estate in town was quiet. Ciel kept on looking down at a letter he had and looked deep in thought. Without me wishing the estate came into view and we stopped. Sebastian opened the carriage door and I stepped out first, Ciel followed. I waited for Ciel and he offered me his arm. I took it and stayed quiet the way up the steps.
"I hate this. There are too many people in London." Ciel said. Sebastian opened the door and I walked through first.
"There is no helping it my Lord. It's tradition for," He closed the door, "the nobility to migrate on mast to town from the country on every season." Sebastian said. I rolled my eyes at this and walked up the flight of stairs.
"The season eh. Waste of time if you ask me." Ciel said as he followed.
"Getting away from the manor could prove a nice change of pace. A bit from those four at least. Also with a little peace and quiet for the time." Sebastian said. I rather be with those four than with these two. God they're so boing but being in town will let me rest in the Undertakers. I know I will need to rest very soon again. The most I can be kept up is three more days.
Sebastian opened the door to Ciel's study and there making a mess were Madam Red, Grell, and Lau.
"Goodness sake where do they keep the tea in this house?" Madam asked.
"I can't find it either." Lau said while looking in a vase. I am pretty sure it will never be in there.
I looked at Ciel with a raised eye brow and he looked like he saw a ghost.
"Madam Red, Lau?! Why are you here?" Ciel asked.
"Ah I see you brought your sister. Hello Celeste. Ciel you're early dear." Madam said.
"Hello Madam." I said.
"Your sudden appearance in town must mean.." Lau started.
"The queens guard dog has a new scent to follow." Madam said. I looked at Ciel and smiled at him while he put on his normal face of I will drown you in misery. Ah the things I come up with in my mind.
Sebastian led us to the dinning room and after a while he came back with tea and snacks. He sat some down for all of us. Ciel also decided he should pick out my snack today. I paid no attention to it. At least Sebastian gave me a small piece of Pear and Blackberry Cornmeal Cake.
"He struck again. Another prostitute was found grossly murdered in the white chapel. These killings are far from normal. The level of violence we're seeing is unprecedented." Ciel said.
"The most resent victim was a woman named Mary Ann Nickels. It appears that a special type of blade was used on her. She was torn up beyond recognition." Sebastian said.
"The murder's distinctive style of killing has earned him a unique nickname from the press. Jack the Ripper." Ciel said. I stopped eating and put my fork down. God did we have to be talking about this while eating.
"A frightening name." Lau said.
"That's why I'm here earlier than expected. I hurried here into town to look into the situation for myself." Ciel said.
"But are you sure you'll be brave enough to stomach the crime scene?" Lau asked Ciel. I looked at Grell quickly with a hidden message in my eyes. He wasn't looking at me but at Sebastian.
"What do you mean by that?" Ciel asked Lau.
"The sight of the dismembered body will certainly be horrific." Lau started and he stood up, "And one can only imagine the stench. Blood and gore everywhere surely it will be more than enough to drive somebody mad. Are you prepared to see such a thing? Your just a young boy after all." Lau said. Bad move Lau, Ciel will now bore you with misery.
"I am the head of the Phantomhives and servant to my queen. Don't ask foolish questions." Ciel said.
"Your right so sorry." Lau said. I drank the rest of my tea and just played around with my empty plate and tea cup. On our way to town I sat in the front with Grell just talking nonsense with him. Quietly though we didn't want to give away that we're not human to the other two humans. I know Madam knows about Grell but not me.
We walked to a group and I stayed back with Madam and Lau. Only because I didn't feel like going over there and risk being exposed if her cinematic record hasn't been collected.
I listened to all the gossip and heard about a party. Being thrown by a Viscount Druit. Ciel came walking back to us and madam asked him what was their next move, "Now what dear?"
"Now we go see someone who maybe useful." Ciel said. I just wonder who this could be.
"My lord you mean?" Lau asked.
"Yes indeed." Ciel said. We walked for sometime and came to the Undertakers shop. Just the man I needed to ask about me resting here.
"So where are we?" Lau asked.
"You don't know then what was all that about!" Madam exclaimed.
"It's a funeral parlor run by an aquientence of my lords." Sebastian said.
"The Undertaker?" Madam questioned. Oh this should be great, very great. We walked in and Ciel said something about this being the place if we're looking for answers. I heard the Undertakers laugh and smiled lightly at it without them noticing it. The other three looked about ready to have a major heart attack.
Undertaker popped out the coffin behind me, "My lord it's so lovely to see you. Do I have the pleasure to be fitting you for one of me coffins today?" He asked I stepped away trying to hide my smile. The other three looked like they were having a heart attack.
"No that isn't why I'm here. I wanted to-" Undertaker stopped him from talking.
"No need to say. I'm already aware, very well aware. One of my resent customer was a bit unusual shall we say. I helped though, I made her look beautiful again." Undertaker said.
"I would like the details please." Ciel said.
"I see now so the funeral parlor is only your cover business. How much is it." Lau asked Undertaker. Undertaker ran to Lau.
"I have no need for the queens coins. There's only one thing that I want from you." Undertaker looked over at Ciel and I. He came over, "Please my Lord give it to me and I'll tell you anything. The extraordinary gift of laughter. Just one and all the information is your's." Undertaker said. I looked at Ciel and he had that face of kill me now on.
Lau tried to tell a joke and no one laughed and madam tried to tell a joke too but it was just gossip. With all the bad words she was saying Ciel covered my ears. Its not like I'm that innocent anymore. I've seen so much stuff over the past two years that bad words don't compare to those things. Undertaker taped their mouths shut and turned to Ciel.
"Now my lord and lady your the only ones left. Remember I have you a discount last time, but I'm not gonna do it again." Undertaker said. Ciel looked mad and I was about to tell him a joke I head from the reapers when Sebastian stepped up.
"It can't be helped." Sebastian said.
"Sebastian?" Ciel questioned looking at Sebastian. Undertaker was smiling at me when he recognized me. I smirked at him and looked at Ciel.
"Everyone. Please wait outside. No matter what happens do not attempt to listen to this." Sebastian said. We walked outside and my brother held onto my hand.
"Ciel I'm not going to get lost." I said. He still held onto my hand. We stayed quiet for a couple of minutes and then we heard Undertaker laugh.
Sebastian opened the door, "Please do come back in now. I believe he will tell us everything you want to know." Sebastian said. A while later we were sitting on coffins with some tea.
"An interesting pattern I've seen these days. I often get customers who are incomplete." Undertaker said. He gave a nice low soft laugh.
"Incomplete?" Sebastian questioned.
"Yes. The uterus is missing which is quite odd." Undertaker was with a dummy that showed something's from the body, "The killer makes a mess of the body but that particular part is always precisely excised." Undertaker said.
"He did it on a rode that was public though not that high in traffic. Wouldn't an armature have a difficult time to carry out such a complicated procedure, to do it quickly?" Sebastian asked.
"Your right little one. That is right what I was thinking." Undertaker walked over and he came up behind me. He put a hand on my shoulder, "You see first he slits her throat with a sharp weapon," He put a hand on my throat and makes that slicing motion, "And he rips in right here and takes that precious womanly part." Undertaker said as he put his hand on my stomach mentioning where, after that he poked my cheek. I had a fake disturbed face on, "There will be more slain I'm certain. Sadistic killer's like that won't stop until someone makes them." Undertaker said and he stood up straight he walked away from me and back to that dummy, "Will you stop him? Can you sniff him out like a good little guard dog?" Undertaker asked Ciel.
"I'm bound by the honor of my family. I eliminate any threat the queen asks me too. By any means I find necessary." Ciel said.
We left the funeral parlor and headed back. I was again up in front with Grell not like I care where I sit be it inside or outside. I heard the door open and looked back in time to see Sebastian jump out. We got back to the town house and Sebastian was there already.
"Welcome back everyone. I have awaited your return." Sebastian started, "The afternoon tea is ready for you in the drawing room." Sebastian said. I walked in with Ciel and started to make my way to the library I heard Sebastian start to talk and I giggled when I saw my aunties face.
"From this information I have narrowed down our list to one possible suspect." Sebastian said.
"Are you certain you are just a butler? Not a secret military intelligence officer." Madam asked Sebastian.
"My Lady, I am simply one hell of a butler." Sebastian said.
"Celeste dear we need your help!" I heard Madam call my name after an hour.
"Coming!" I yelled back. I started to descend the stairs and made my way to the dinning room, "Yes?" I asked.
"Can you help us teach Ciel some manners while sitting at the table?" Madam said.
"Yes but what's it for?" I asked as I set the table the way mother had it when she taught me some table etiquette.
After an hour or so Ciel got a taste of what I went through for years. Sebastian went to put Ciel in a dress and corset. I went to my room and changed into a blue and black dress fit for a ball. I walked by Ciel's room and heard him scream about it hurting. Must be the corset. We went outside after Ciel came out. I laughed at him because he really looked like a girl. Guess what we had the same hair style and dress style. Just different colored dress and how our hat was being worn.
"The Viscount Druit also known as Aliester Chambers. He graduated from medical school but has never gone into practice. Lately he has thrown several parties at his home, but behind the scenes of these are secret gatherings." I stopped listening to Sebastian for a while.
"I heard he's into black magic and sorts of that things." Madam said. Lau said something but I was looking outside at the mansion.
"Tonight is the last party of the season." Ciel said as he stepped out first and then I was helped out. May I add I was much more graceful than Ciel, "Which means this is our last chance." Ciel finished saying. Grell came dressed as my tutor but I was to be walking around with Ciel and Sebastian.
"Ciel your my nice visiting from the country and Sebastian will be Ciel's tutor. Celeste is your cousin." Madam said.
"And just why do I have to act like your niece. Celeste is already a girl." Ciel said.
"I'm not the one working a case." I whispered at him.
"Because dear I always wanted two girls." Madam said.
"I knew it!" I exclaimed.
"Your kidding me." Ciel said.
"You don't want them to know your a Phantomhive. Besides I heard Lord Druit a has an eye for any pretty little thing with a skirt and we do want to catch his eye. Right?" Madam asked Ciel.
"By any means necessary. You do remember saying that don't you my lord?" Sebastian asked Ciel. I looked at Madam.
"Can I dress as Ciel next time?" I asked Madam. She smiled at me.
"No dear." She said. I took off walking with Sebastian and Ciel.
"First things first. We need to locate this murderous Viscount." Sebastian said.
"At least Elizabeth is not here. I wouldn't want her to see me like this." Ciel said.
"Oh that dress is so adorable. I adore all the dresses here. They're lovely." We turned around when we heard her voice. Ciel looked like he would have a heart attack.
I on the other hand was enjoying this to much, "Sir. I mean Mistress please calm down. Let's move quickly." Sebastian said. I heard a squeal from behind us.
"You in the pink. Your dress is adorable. Same with the one in blue." Lizzy said. I looked at those two.
"Go. I got this." I said and turned around, "Lizzy! What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Celeste is Ciel here?" Lizzy asked.
"No I was with Madam Red. He's still in the manor." I said. After a while she left me and when I was walking around I found Ciel talking to the Viscount. Ciel looked like he was having a bad time. He saw me and made a silent plea of help. Just because I'm a chick and because Elizabeth was on her way to Ciel. That is until Sebastian decided to do parlor tricks, "Um, excuse me Lord Druit but may I have a word with my cousin?" I said.
"Why such a beauty you are. Join us my butterfly. We are going for a walk. Come now." Druit said. He put an arm around my waist. I looked at Ciel while Druit was looking away. I glared at him, my own brother pulled me into his investigation. We got to a room and I refused to walk in just yet. I pretended to be looking around for something. A flash of yellow eyes caught my attention. I made out the form to be Claude. I saw Ciel fall and I ran into the room. The air was to sweet and suffocating. I wouldn't get knocked out just yet. The door closed and I was going to look back when I felt a sharp pain on my head. I fell but I wasn't out yet. I was hit again and before I passed out I felt something trickling down on my side of the face. Blood it must be that.
Ciel's POV
That bloody bastard had the audacity to knock us out in a room. Celeste! Where is she? I can't see, everything is black. Idiot better have not done anything to her. My hands were bound together. I will not forgive myself if that idiot did something to her.
"And now what you all been waiting for. Tonight's Crown Jewels." Druit started. Something was pulled up and twice. I heard lots of murmurs, "I'm sure they'll make a lovely decoration. Sweet little pets. You can keep them whole and healthy. Or sell them for parts if you'll like too. One has different colored eyes. The other dark blue eyes. But for the deserving collector that will add to her unique attraction. The bidding shall begin momentarily." So that's what he's doing. He removes the organs and sells them in the black market, "We'll start at one thousand Guinness." My blind fold was removed. I looked to my left side and saw Celeste still knocked out. Blood on her left side of her face. Idiots started to yell out numbers.
"Sebastian come get us now." I said. The candle light went out and I heard stuff breaking over the idiots. The candle lights came back on and Sebastian was walking over to us.
"Really sir? Ate you good for nothing but getting yourself captured and your sister involved?" Sebastian asked.
"As long as the contract remains in place you'll follow me everywhere wether I ask you to or not." I said.
"This type of contract is sealed by the mark a demon places on his prey. The more noticeable the mark is the tighter the demon and prey are bound together. Demon serves." Sebastian said.
"In exchange the pray can never escape." I said. He opened the cage pulling the bars to the side.
"Yes I will be with you everywhere. Until the end." He got me out and then went for Celeste while still carrying me, "I shall be at your side no matter what. Even if I perish in this world I will still be there. In the depths of hell my lord. This is how I differ from humans. I do not lie." He said. He cut my ropes and freed Celeste.
"Good you will never lie to me no matter what. Understood?" I asked Sebastian.
"Yes my young lord." He said and bowed slightly mindful of my sister.
"I suppose this solves the Jack the Reaper case. Well that was easier than I expected." I said.
"I imagine Scotland yard will be here before much longer. We should take our leave." Sebastian said as he bent down and scooped me up. He had a grip on Celeste. Her head was on his shoulder resting. Blood still coming out of the wound, "Well miss are you ready?" Sebastian asked. He took off running and jumped out the window. We landed on the roof and disappeared before Lizzy turned around to see us.
We got back to the estate and Sebastian took us to Celeste's room. Her room was a light blue which reminds me that, that is her favorite color. He set me down and then put my sister down on her bed. He disappeared and reappeared with a rag and bowl of warm water. He bandaged her up but I could tell she was still in pain. Sebastian left and I sat down next to Celeste. I held her hand and felt her squeeze it.
"William." Celeste whispered. I looked at her in wonder as to who this William is.
2 Days Later
Celeste has been asleep for two days. I got the morning paper and saw the head line. Jack the Reaper Strikes Again. This was already on my nerves. My sister got injured and the Viscount wasn't the perpetrator. I got up and walked to her room to see that she wasn't on her bed. I heard water moving so I knocked on her bathroom door.
"Celeste?" I asked.
"Ciel? What is it brother?" She asked. The door opened and Celeste was in a different dress. I hugged her tightly saying sorry over and over again, "Ciel it's not your fault. Whatever had been in that room didn't and couldn't knock me out. What happened how long have I been dead to the world?" Celeste asked.
"Two and a half days." I answered she nodded and looked at me.
"He wasn't the one huh?" She asked.
"No Celeste. He wasn't." I said. She pulled me to her and hugged me.
"Ciel you tried that's what matters. Trust me you will catch him. I don't blame you Ciel when I went with you I knew that I could get injured. This does not compare to what we went through two years ago." She said. There was a knock on the door, "Enter." Celeste said.
"Young lord, mistress I have brought you tea and snacks." Sebastian said.
"Thank you Sebastian." Celeste said with a smile. Sebastian gave her a closed eyed smile and left us alone at my request. It was weird seeing Celeste smile and happy almost as if nothing ever happened to her. She was so talkative and carefree right now so I asked her who this William was.
"Celeste, who is William?" I asked. Celeste looked at me and seemed to pale a bit.
"He is a friend Ciel. He kept me company for two years while I recovered." She said. I nodded and left the subject alone. This William must be a doctor. For the rest of the afternoon we stayed in her room. Madam stayed close to her hugging her and not letting her go. Things seemed to be back to normal now that Celeste was awake.
