Chapter 12
Waaay Pass my bed time xD
"This is, England's mother, our beloved Queen Victoria, has graced us with her presence!" One of the judges exclaimed. Everyone started to sing God save the Queen while she walked down the open space we made for her towards the seat that was set for her.
She took her seat and her butler addressed the crowd, "Her Majesty declares, We have not seen you in sometime, and are sorry to have concerned you. However our constitution has improved remarkably and now we are even able to come and sample curry. We wish everyone well and hold great expectations for this food that my late husband loved so much."
Everyone cheered and we watched as the cooks started to cook their curry. Apparently everyone was disgusted with the fact that Sebastian put chocolate in the curry. Agni pulled out a blue lobster and used it for the curry. Time was then called, "Times up! Now the judging will commence! First up is the Persian Tub's Beef Curry."
We watched as the judges tasted the curry and it turned out that the man used curry powder. The Doll company was up after the man and the curry turned out to be unbalanced with a spice standing out more than the others.
"Next up is Chef Agni from the Harold West estate." The man announced.
"May I present my curry. Lobster and seven flavored sauce." Agni said. The judges tasted it and seemed to love it right away. Lord Druit also known as the pervert seemed to proclaim his love for either Ciel or me. I'm going towards the fact he meant Ciel .
"Will the winner be decided just like that, or will we see an even better appraisal? Our final contestant is the Funtom Company!" The man said and Sebastian stepped up with his platter.
"I humbly present my curry." Sebastian said and lifted the lid on the platter. It showed three balls of dough that were filled with curry. Courtesy of my like to eat things with my hands.
Everyone questioned what he was doing and the fact that he was frying it, "It is complete. This is our company's curry." Sebastian said.
Lord Druit cut the curry bread,"This is the curry that our company proudly presents. It is called Curry Bread!" He said and I smiled as far as I could see, the judges loved it. Lord Druit once again declared his love for the maiden. Hopefully he means Ciel.
"Has the victor become less certain? Now we shall allow the judges time to deliberate on their verdict! During that time, everyone please help yourselves to whichever curry suits you!" The announcer said
I wandered to go get myself Curry Bread. I almost made it to the table when Sebastian cut me off, "Lady Phantomhive, I have brought you a freshly made Curry Bread." He said.
I smiled and took it, "Thank you Sebastian." I said and started munching on it. I stayed by Sebastian's side and watched as both the Funtom Curry and Agni's curry seemed to be tied.
"Chef Sebastian of the Funtom Company. Her Majesty wishes to partake of a Curry Bread. Could I please ask you to bring one over here?" Her Majesty's butler, Ash, asked Sebastian.
Sebastian nodded and went to get her a Curry Bread. Sebastian came back with a Curry Bread, "Please enjoy it, Your Majesty." Sebastian said. Everything was silent as everyone watched the Queen take a bite.
"Her Majesty declares, "A food that is easy for even children to eat, requiring neither knife nor fork, fulfilling both the rich and the poor. Allowing both the children and adults to partake of it equally is commensurate with my goal of creating a kind and pure country." Treasuring children and the future, this kind stance moves Her Majesty greatly." Ashe said.
"Don't make me sick!" Everyone looked around, "That's too sugary. Equality? The future? For this bountiful country, where there are no hardships, what a pretentious queen!" Meena stated and she slapped plates off of the table she stood by.
Sir Harold walked up to her, "Meena stop at once! You're in Her Majesty's presence!" He said grabbing her shoulders.
Meena elbowed him, "Get lost!" She said and Sir Harold flew into the shrubbery.
"Restrain her!" Officers yelled running towards Meena and Meena seemed to be having a reaction to the curry. Meena seemed to not be the only one affected. Ciel was surrounded and Sebastian went to save him. After he did I stayed with Ciel close to the queen and we watched as Sebastian fought Meena. I looked towards Prince Soma and he seemed to have made up with Agni. I smiled at the fact that Agni and Sebastian were getting along fighting off the possessed people.
"You two have a splendid butler, don't you? It seems there will be no need for me to make an appearance." Ciel and I turned to face Her Majesty's butler, "But do you not think this peculiar? If that was the power of the spice, then why is it that just one group of people was affected? If that were the case, there should be many more going out of control. After all, there is no one in this world who is truly at peace with themselves." Meena passed Sebastian and came towards us. Ciel pushed me behind him and stood protectively in front of me.
"Wait Meena!" Prince Soma yelled standing in front of us.
"That idiot!" Ciel whispered yelled at me.
Meena was still running towards us and she slipped on some crab that was on the floor, "Prince Soma!" I heard Agni yell.
Soma ran towards Meena's fallen body, "Forgive me Meena." Soma said and he stepped on her back.
"Sebastian! The Curry Bread! Make them eat your Curry Bread!" Ciel yelled.
"Understood!" Sebastian answered my brother.
A kind Curry bread created by a demon. How absolutely like him. A completely ironic joke. However, if he has decided to imbue it with kindness then its power is perfect. I thought to myself.
I watched as everyone went back to normal after they had gotten a taste of Sebastian's Curry Bread, "Her Majesty declares, "The kind Curry Bread is able to subdue evil spice and appease the souls of those in the grip of evil. The Royal Warrant's destination is clear." " Ash stated after everything finally cooled down.
"What will happen to them?" Ciel asked.
"They will not be mistreated. Master Ciel, you did a sterling job today. Also for obtaining the Royal Warrant, I congratulate you sincerely. I have a word of appreciation from Her Majesty. Her Majesty declares, "I have put you through a great deal of trouble, I am ever watching your work." I am the light and Master Ciel is the shadow. Our positions may be different, but I believe our wishes are the same. Please continue to use your strength for Her Majesty's benefit in the future." Ash said.
"I shall." Ciel answered.
Ash bowed, "Well then I shall take my leave." Ash said and left.
"Thank you Ciel. If I hadn't met you, I would have remained an ignorant selfish child. From now on, I'll learn lots more, and travel all over London... No, the world, and become a fine enough man not to lose face to anyone. Lady Celeste, thank you for being kind to me unlike your brother most of the time." Soma said smiling at me. He then hugged Ciel crying about Meena. I started to laugh at my brothers sudden misfortune.
A couple weeks passed by and I had been hiding from my current Governess in the garden every time she came over. After so long and Ciel gets me a Governess just so that I can learn how to speak Italian, and play the piano even though I already know how to do both. Mom really wanted me to be busy while Ciel had the free time while we were young. Not that I cared because I love learning things. We were currently on our way to Ludlow Castle to check on the renovations.
"Good grief. What a good for nothing! Laying down his work because he's afraid of ghosts?" I froze, ghosts?, "As if something like this could possibly..." Ciel looked at Sebastian.
"Is something the matter?" Sebastian asked.
Ciel answered, "Nothing at all. Let us finish this quickly and head home."
"As you wish." Sebastian said. He opened the door for us and we walked inside the castle.
We stopped by a painting, "I believe I have seen this painting before. Could it be a replica?" Ciel questioned.
The door slammed shut behind us and some candles turned on in another room, "You, there! Who gave you permission to enter?" A boys voice sounded throughout the room.
"Sebastian, do you have any idea why there's a traveling entertainer here?" Ciel asked and I felt two sad souls in the vicinity.
"How rude." The boy made himself known, "I am Edward V. King of England!" He proclaimed.
"Ciel, what's going on here?" I asked.
"It would seem that the painting is genuine. Rumor has it that about 400 years ago. Edward V, who was soon to receive the crown, and his younger brother, Richard, were confined in the Tower of London where they were eventually assassinated by their own relatives, who sought the throne. The brothers spent their childhood in this castle. It is possible that they returned home as mere spirits." Sebastian told us.
"Even though it was just for a few months, the fact is, he was a king. We have no choice." Ciel grabbed my hand and he nodded at Sebastian.
"I understand." Sebastian said and he stepped forward.
"What are you talking about?" King Edward asked.
Sebastian bowed, "My Masters, Earl Ciel Phantomhive and his sister Lady Celeste Phantomhive, are at your service, Your Majesty." Sebastian introduced us.
Ciel and I walked forward and Ciel bowed down and I curtsied, "Please excuse my improper demeanor. I was not aware of Your Majesty Majesty's presence." Ciel said.
"Very well. I forgive you. It is rare for me to receive a guest." Edward said.
"Even though Your Majesty calls me a guest, this castle is the property of my company now." Ciel said.
"So, you will be the new administrator, I presume?"
"No, Your Majesty. Let me make this clear. I wish for Your Majesty to vacate this castle." Ciel told him.
"Are you telling a king and his brother, who have been living here for the past 400 years, to leave?" Edward questioned.
"Needless to say, you will be compensated. It is my intention to comply absolutely with Your Majesty's will. Let us discuss a way of reaching an agreement satisfactory to both sides." Ciel said and a small boy appeared at one side of the room. He was looking at Sebastian.
"Oh, it seems that my younger brother, Richard, has taken a liking to that servant." Edward stated and I noticed he kept glancing at me.
"This is my butler, Sebastian Michaelis." Ciel introduced Sebastian.
"Every day must be fun if you have a butler. Don't you think so?" The small boy, Richard, said.
"Indeed, and given he seems to be rather extraordinary butler, this will undoubtedly become quite interesting." Edward said.
There was now a chess set in front of Ciel who was sitting on the table across from King Edward, "If I win, this butler will be mine as well as your sister." My eyes widened and I looked at Ciel and he looked at me with the same expression he always has, "Should you win, you may do whatever you desire with the castle." Edward said.
"Do not regret that, but my sister will be the one playing for herself." Ciel said.
"Are you not the head of the family?" Edward asked.
"I am but the second part of our little wager pertains to my sister. Therefore she will go against you." Ciel stated.
Edward nodded, "Let us play fairly. It will be no fun otherwise." He moved a pawn forward.
Ciel moved a pawn forward too, "I feel the same way." He said.
After a while Ciel had put the king in checkmate but the king changed the knight to a queen capturing Ciel's king and ending their game, "Oh, that is checkmate." Edward said.
"Your Majesty!" Did you lie when you spoke of playing fairly?" Ciel questioned.
A dark aura surrounded Edward, "What did you just say? I never lie! I detest lies!" he grabbed a chess piece, "This is my chess piece. I am just using my individual abilities to best effect. It is not cheating!"
I sighed looks like I have to fix my brothers mess, "Your Majesty, please allow me to speak." I said he looked at me surprised I spoke.
"You have permission, Lady Celeste." He said.
"It looks as though my brother has forgotten his very own credo." I said.
"What?" Ciel questioned me.
"My brother truly believes that a person who fails to fully utilize the pieces in his hand, because he abides by some superficial rules, is a fool." I said.
"Oh. Well there is no problem, then. Now then, Richard." The boy went over to Sebastian and latched onto him.
"This is an order. You are to serve them wholeheartedly until they are completely satisfied."Ciel said ordering Sebastian.
"Are you sure?" Sebastian asked Ciel.
"It can't be helped, I lost." Ciel told Sebastian.
"Yes My Lord."Sebastian said complying with the order.
"Good. Then, it is settled. This butler will probably not die from some petty thing. It seems he will be able to continue working for me forever." Edward said.
"I will give my best." Sebastian said.
"All of you may leave now, I believe I have to play against Lady Phantomhive." Edward said and everyone left us alone. I took Ciel's previous seat. I set my side of the board and he set his, "Lady's first." He said ad I moved my first pawn forward.
We were playing for an hour now and Sebastian had come to check on us but left. We both had three pieces left, I had my queen, knight, and king. He had a pawn, his queen, and his king. I used my knight to take the pawn and he used his queen to take my knight. I moved my king into checkmate but he made his king disappear and in place was the queen who in turn took my king. I had lost the game after an hour of playing and I almost slammed my head onto the table.
"It appears I have won." He said.
"It appears so Your Majesty." I said looking up at him.
He stood and appeared beside me, "Let's get rid of that dress and give you a proper one, my wife." He said and I looked at him wide eyed. That's it, William is now seriously going to kill me. I nodded and followed him.
I went from a simple black and red dress to a princess type green dress. After I had changed I went looking for Ciel and when I found him he was in his own room, "Celeste?" He questioned me. I fell back in his bed and covered my face with both of my hands. I felt the bed dip next to me and he pried my hands away from my face, "What happened?" He asked.
I sat up and looked at him, "Ciel, I lost the game and losing this game basically cost me my freedom." I said.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"King Edward V declared me his wife." I told him. Ciel looked at me wide eyed and his eye traveled down to my left hand where a silver band laid.
"I'm sorry." He whispered at me.
I hugged him, "It's not your fault. I should have never agreed to play against him after I saw him cheat on your game." I stated. I felt a pull and it felt like I was being summoned by William. I gulped, "Ciel can you cover my whereabouts?" I asked.
"Why? What's wrong?" He asked.
I bit my lower lip, "William is summoning me. He must have found out." I said. He nodded and using his restroom door I appeared in the dispatch. I walked to William's office.
When I reach the door I knocked and waited, "Enter, Celeste." He said.
I silently started praying for my life, "Brother?" I asked.
He was looking out his window, "Have a seat Celeste." He said and I mentally started to dig my grave.
I sat down and waited for him to speak, "What were you thinking?" He asked looking at me this time.
"At the time nothing really." I said fiddling with my fingers.
It was silent for a while and then he sighed, "Honestly Celeste, you have to be smarter than that. Anyways the boy and his brother will be passing on soon. Until then you are to remain there." He said and dismissed me.
I stared at him in disbelief, "You're not angry?" I asked.
"I am but you have given yourself your own punishment. Hurry back now." He said and I opened the door leaving his office and the dispatch.
I was back in Ciel's room and he was not there. I opened the door and left looking for a library where I did find him. I grabbed a book and went to read on a chair curling up in it. I felt arms wrap around me and suddenly I was on someone's lap, "Who was it that killed them? To call upon the dead themselves is, most likely, the only way to uncover the truth. Unfortunately, I am not able to reply." Edward said from behind me.
"Your Majesty..." Ciel looked surprised. I on-the-other-hand was annoyed.
"I do not recall anything about the day we were killed. When I regained consciousness, I was dead and in this castle." Edward said and he ran a hand though my lose hair.
Ciel, tell him to let me go, I silently cried inside my mind, "Your Majesty is very kind." Ciel said.
"How so?" Edward asked.
"In my case I will not forget, for all eternity the ones who humiliated me." Ciel said. Um, Ciel I'm here too.
"Nonetheless, it has bee 400 years. The ones who killed us and those who tried to protect us are all long dead. By now, I am not even able to recall that last sensation." Edward stated.
"Pain fades away with the flow of time. Still, I do not desire to be healed by time." Ciel told him. I was back at reading my book. It's obvious King Edward won't be letting me go soon.
"You are strong, Phantomhive." Edward said. I jumped out the seat the moment he let me go and I heard a... gong?
"What was that?" I asked.
"The preparations for dinner seem complete." Ciel answered.
"Ah, I see. Time flies when I'm talking to you." Edward said.
Edward offered me his hand which I took and we made our way to the dinning room. Once there I was seated to Edwards right side and Ciel was at the other end of the table. I shook my head slightly, my poor brother.
Sebastian put a plate down in front of me and described what we were having, "Roasted wild rabbit served with red currant jelly and accompanied by local leeks."
"He says it is Mr. Rabbit." Richard said.
Ciel was making a racket at the end of the table, "Why is the guest making a racket?" Edward asked. I picked at my food silently.
"I merely inquired as to whether my butler has made any careless mistakes." Ciel said.
"Sebastian is our butler, though. Just like Celeste is now my big sister." Richard said looking down at the skull and then smiling up at me. I forced myself to smile back at him.
Sebastian served Claret which is red wine from France and also something I am absolutely never allowed to drink. Sebastian gave me water and I was grateful for that, "Well then, let us drink to a new friend, a new butler, and my new wife!" Edward said and Richard and I lifted our glass.
"Cheers." I said bored. But it didn't sound like I was sadly.
"Is something the matter, Phantomhive?" He asked I looked at him thinking he was talking to me but I saw him looking at Ciel.
Ciel had an empty glass, "No. Nothing at all." He said.
After dinner everyone retired to sleep and I was stuck in the same room with Edward. I got out my dress quickly and got into a long night gown quickly. I slipped under the covers and stayed far, very far, from his side of the bed.
I had just closed my eyes when suddenly I was being shaken, "Pst, Celeste." I heard Ciel say. I opened my eyes and looked at him. He handed me a robe and I covered myself tying it into place. He pulled me out the room and we ended up stalking Edward.
He disappeared behind a book case. Ciel went to check the book case, "Celeste, it's fake." He informed me.
"So secret door somewhere, right?" I asked him.
"Can I help you?" I heard Sebastian say behind me. I jumped away in surprise.
"What do you want?" Ciel asked Sebastian.
Sebastian pulled out a key and opened one of the fake books, "Sebastian." I called out.
"Is something the matter, my lady?" He asked.
"I don't recall either of us giving you an order." I said.
"Its part of the service. The key to satisfying a guest during his stay is to foresee his wishes and act accordingly at all times. It is only natural for a butler of His Royal Highness the King of England to be able to do this much." Sebastian said giving us a smile.
Ciel and I spoke together, "I will kill you."
Well then, do you wish me to unlock the door?" Sebastian asked.
"Open it." Ciel ordered.
Sebastian unlocked the door and a secret passage slid open. We walked down the steps and came across a catacomb, "This is..."
"It seems to be a charnel house." Sebastian said.
Ciel stepped on a bone breaking it, "Please be careful." Edward appeared before us, "It has been a long time since last a human being set foot in here." He said.
"Your Majesty, this room..." Ciel started but did not continue.
"Originally it was an underground prison. Criminals who were not permitted a burial on the church grounds got thrown in here, and were finally forgotten completely, even by the Death Gods themselves. Their souls are not able to open a path to heaven." Candles were lit, "At some point, I decided to create a memorial. Please allow me to introduce my father." He pointed to the chess board behind him, "My father is the king. The queen is my mother. Perhaps a somewhat ordinary, uninspired role allocation. Earl Rivers is a rook. My uncle is a bishop. The whole family is reunited as a bone parade." I looked at the board.
"A knight is missing." I said.
"This place is meant for Richard." Edward answered me.
"Are you not able to find him?" I asked.
"That is not the reason, the skull is here. I had it sent here from the Tower of London some 200 years ago. However, Richard is not willing to let go of it. You know, Phantomhive's, I just want to see my brother offto the throne of God, where there is no pain and no suffering." Edward said.
"You mean Heaven?" Ciel asked.
"Yes my wish will be fulfilled if this memorial is perfected." Edward said.
"In other words, you will be satisfied if you acquire the skull? You wish to have it in your possession no matter the cost." Ciel said.
"Yes. In that case, surely..." Edward said not paying attention to us.
"Sebastian." Ciel called.
"Yes." Sebastian answered.
"This is an order. Reclaim that skull." Ciel said.
Sebastian bowed, "Yes, my Lord." Sebastian said and walked away.
"And move the chess board to the hall." Ciel said giving his final order.
"As you wish." Sebastian answered.
"What are the two of you doing?" Edward asked.
"Fulfilling your wish using the most expedient method." I answered looking back at King Edward.
Sebastian came back with Richard who was asking him to put him down, "I beg your pardon, Lord Richard." Sebastian grabbed Richard by the back og his shirt.
"What a shame and here I was hoping to see a fight between a demon and a ghost. How boring." Ciel said. Because he's my brother and because I can I sat on his lap.
Richard was now begging for his brother, "Richard! Can you not be a littler gentler?"
Ciel looked at Edward, "I really find it incomprehensible that you left a problem of this degree unattended for 200 years." Ciel said.
"But I never intended to make my little brother cry." Edward said.
Sebastian was going to take the skull when Richard screamed, "See we secured the item you desired." Ciel said.
"Don't! I told you, don't...Brother! My brother will..." Richard was reaching for the skull.
"Let Richard go! This is my order as the king!" Edward ordered Sebastian.
"Brother!" Richard cried out.
Edward moved to hit Sebastian but Sebastian moved out the way and Edward fell to the ground. I stood and materialized my scythe.
"Oh. I beg your pardon. Nonetheless. Your Majesty really is a somewhat impotent King." Sebastian said. Heartless demon, that final.
Edward seemed to remember something from his past, "Stop it! I said stop it, Phantomhive." Edward said.
"It was your wish to acquire it, no matter the cost. If you go back on that now, it would be no better that the lies you detest." Ciel told him.
"Sebastian obey my order! You belong to me." Edward said.
"Regrettably. I am bound by contract exclusively to Earl Phantomhive. The service I provided to you both was part of my work. I was just faithfully abiding by the orders of my rightful master." Sebastian said.
"So, even you... What of you Celeste?" He asked me.
"Now my sister may have lost the game of chess against you but as head of the family I can decide whether she can marry the person or not. In this case I never accepted." Ciel said.
"Even you betrayed me." Edward said.
"Your Highness, I was never at your side to begin with. The same can be said with Sebastian." I said.
"Well, it looks like I am to play the role of chief mourner when it comes to seeing you off to heaven." Ciel said and walked over to the table to put the skull down.
"No! Brother!... Brother will..." Richard started yelling.
"Everything will be alright, Richard. I am always with you. This way everything will end." Edward said.
"So, let the burial ceremony begin." Ciel put the skull down and nothing happened.
"Why? Why is nothing happening?" Edward walked towards the table.
"Lord Richard did not want his Majesty to find out about this. Am I right?" Sebastian said.
"Yes. Because I was sure my brother would be sad. Brother, I am sorry I lied to you." Richard said and hugged Edward.
"Lied? You lied to me?" Edward questioned Richard.
"Listen Brother. The truth is, the skull belongs to neither you nor me. but to some unfortunate stranger." Richard said.
"That can't be." Edward stated in shock.
"You forgot that our bones are long gone. Since that day..." Richard said. It was sad listening to their story and I put my scythe away.
"Pain fades away with the flow of time. Still, I do not desire to be healed by time. When you flee from pain, longing to forget, the only thing that remains is stagnation. You become incapable of moving on." Ciel said.
"Ah, I understand now. Even though I detest lies, the truth is, I have been constantly lying to myself." Edward said. It appeared that Edward had been the one keeping them here.
"Brother, we are sparkling." Richard said.
"This is." Edward did not continue.
"The significance of a burial is that of a tool. It is neither the skull nor the ceremony itself that holds the power to send a stray soul off." Sebastian said.
"Thank you for your help Phantomhive. Stay well forevermore." Edward said.
"I did not do much. Ah, on last thing. There is no need to worry about the castle. I intend to leave it in its present state." Ciel said.
"I am relieved to hear that."Edward said.
Richard ran at Sebastian and hugged him, "Farewell, Sebastian. Thank you." Richard said.
"Have a safe journey." Sebastian said. I was on the boat with them because I had to escort them to the gates myself it was my job in the end because I was the Angel of Life. After that I was allowed to go back home to the manor. Edward allowed me to keep the ring he gave me and he gave me a farewell hug along with Richard. Finally after 400 years they were allowed peace but Ciel did lie to Edward so I would not be surprised if he decides to visit the manor.

Feels like a short chapter. Anyways I have two more chapters left and I will be skipping a episode because I did not know how to fit Celeste into said episode. I forgot which one it was too. 2015 was not a good year for me, I got sick a lot. Now 2016 is a pain because my apartment complex is under going renovations and everyone has to leave for like 2-3 weeks and this is a problem because I have a 8 year old brother who walks home from school which is a block away. So currently I am stressed trying to find a place to stay at with my brother.
