WHEN THE LITTLE ANGEL COMES TO VISIT
A few members of the Celestial Twelve were enjoying the weekend in the lobby of their dorm as usual. Corvan was summoned by the Headmaster for a reason saying that he had a surprise for the young lord.
Val was in the kitchen preparing a snack for the others, making sure that it was enough especially because the eleventh ranker was around.
"Hey Charles, ever wondered what it felt like to have a sister?" Keelan asked, as his green eyes sparkled with innocence and wonder.
Charles tensed up a bit at his question. He glanced at Tamara who had fallen asleep yet again on a loveseat, before he spoke.
"I believe I have not. I can do without one," he said, and fixed his glasses. He then focused back on the book he was reading.
"I was just asking. I mean, I have a brother and he's cool. But, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too bad if I had a sister," the eleventh ranker said.
"You're not the only one thinking that, Keelan," Valeriana said as she came from the kitchen. She set down a plate of perfectly arranged cookies on the center table.
Keelan's eyes lit up and immediately reached for one and stuffed it in his mouth, before taking another one.
"Jareth is such a pain in the ass, and I always wondered what my life would be like if he was girl," she said as she sat down next to him.
They all turned the door when they heard it open.
Corvan came in, but that wasn't the first thing they noticed. They're eyes widened at the sight of him carrying a child with apple-sauce hair and green eyes. She looked a bit like the first ranker.
"OMG, Emmillyse!" Val squealed in delight. Tamara woke up at the sound of her voice, while the rest turned to her. They had their brows to their hairline, all silently asking how she knew the girl.
"What are you yelling on about...?" She trailed off when she caught sight of the little girl. "Cute...." She said as she stared.
When Emmillyse saw Valeriana, she squirmed in her brother's hold. Corvan wasted no time in setting her down.
Her little feet padded over the carpeting as she ran into the fifth rankers arms. The first ranker on the other hand was looking annoyed. But truth be told, he was suppressing a smile at his little sister's eagerness.
Val immediately picked Emmillyse up and gave her a tight embrace. She pulled her head back and saw the little girl's aura reaching out to her.
"What brought you here, sweetcheeks?" she asked her.
'I wanted to see you. You were taking too long in keeping your promise,' Emmillyse thought to her.
Valeriana laughed, causing the others to look at her, except Corvan.
'Didn't you come here to see your brother?' Val said to her. She gave the first ranker a side glance which, earned a brow raise from him in return.
'I did, but I also came to see you. I've had nobody to talk to,' the little girl replied. Her bottom lipped quivered and her eyes started to water.
Val ran her hand through her curls in attempt to sooth her. "It's fine. As long as you're here, you can talk to me as long as you want," she said to her.
The rest were baffled about why the two had a staring contest, and the words that escaped Val's lips.
"Everyone, meet my sister, Emmillyse. She'll be with us for the next two days," Corvan said. They all nodded as their mouths formed an 'o' at his words.
Charles turned to the little girl and saw her having another staring contest with Valeriana.
"Lord Corvan if you don't mind me, asking? Is she―," he didn't get to finish when Corvan cut him off.
"Yes, she's incapable of speech," he said.
The fourth ranker shut his mouth, and pretended to be interested his book, even though he had lost concentration the moment the little girl came.
Emmillyse dropped down from Val's hold and bounded over to where her brother was sitting. But, she paused first and turned back to the fifth ranker. She grabbed her hand, and tugged her with her.
Valeriana soon found herself sitting on a couch with Corvan and the little girl between them. She looked up at them both with her big doe eyes as they sparkled with mirth.
She then took hold of one of their hands and began playing with them.
The fifth and the first ranker raised their brows at her actions.
Meanwhile, the twins eyed the girl intently. They didn't fail to notice the look of mischief and joy in her green eyes when they landed on the ring on Val's gloved hand.
Genevieve turned to her twin. When their eyes met, they grinned. "Another ally," they mouthed to each other.
―――
Corvan sat in his seat in front of the dining table. His eyes darted around the present rankers, wondering where his sister was. He was just about to ask where the little girl was when she came into the room with the Zevlin and Genevieve behind her.
The three of them exchanged what Val had called "high-fives" while grinning from ear to ear. Emmillyse moved away from them and ran to his brother.
Corvan helped her sit on a tall chair that was just next to him. He patted her head, before turning to the twins.
"What were the three of you doing?" he asked them.
The twin's eyes widened while they nudged each other's elbows. Zevlin let out a hiss when his sister hit him hard on the ribs, and ended up answering Corvan.
"We just taught her a game. Right, Emmillyse?" he said, before turning to the little girl. She only looked up at him, then her brother before nodding.
He knew for a fact that he was lying, but decided on keeping quiet when Val and Charles came from the kitchen with their food.
The moment the food was placed, the twelve and Emmillyse began eating.
Corvan felt their stares on him, but he ignored them and continued tending to his sister. He placed food on her plate, and spoon-fed her while eating his own meal.
The sight was what you can call heartwarming, especially for the rankers considering it was the first time they've seen the head ranker like this.
They continued eating with smiles on their face, even Brindon. But his, was small compared to the others.
Valeriana finished immediately, and decided to leave the table and head for her room. But before she could go through the doorway, she heard Emmillyse's voice in her head.
'You're going to bed already?' she asked in a whiny tone.
Val, not being able to resist her voice, turned back to her. She walked over to her seat and patted the little girl's head.
"Sorry, I have to go clean my room," she said to her. The rankers' were on them now.
'Can I come with you?" The little girl asked. Her eyes were big and pleading and Val couldn't just turn her down.
She sighed.
"You have to finish dinner first," she said.
The girl's face visibly lit up and she quickly turned back to her brother. Corvan raised a brow at her and then at Val.
"She wants to come with me, but she wants to finish her dinner first," she said to him.
The first ranker nodded. But before, he could bring a spoon to her mouth she climbed off the chair and looked up at her.
"You want me to what?" he heard Val say.
The girl grabbed her hand and pulled her to her seat. Val said nothing and sat on the chair next to Corvan, and Emmillyse climbed on to her lap.
The first ranker raised a brow at this, but he didn't speak. He filled another spoon and fed it to the little girl.
When he was about to do it again, Emmillyse stopped his hand, and pointed at her still full mouth. Corvan understood what she meant.
But he didn't get to get his hand back when she grabbed it. She lifted it up towards Val's mouth.
The latter though, kept her mouth shut and stared at the raised spoon.
"Oh I see. You want to finish eating so you asked Val to share your food," Genevieve said. Her eyes had a weird glint in them.
"Why don't you help her, Val?" Zevlin said.
Val opened her mouth to speak, but something was shoved into her mouth.
Corvan pulled out the spoon and scoffed, while Val glared at him.
"My arm was getting tired waiting for that mouth of yours to open," he said.
With her mouth full of food she couldn't utter a retort, so she just chewed while glaring at the young lord.
'I'm going to enjoy this' Emmillyse heard her brother thought.
She suppressed her grin and turned to the twins with a twinkle in her eyes that matched theirs.
The rest of the twelve noticed this, but they just smiled and decided not to make a comment. It was obvious that the eighth and ninth ranker involved the little girl in their Corval shipping business, as they called it.
―――
Corvan lay in his bed with a big smile on his face. He had to admit, he enjoyed spoon-feeding his sister, and Valeriana, far too much than he should.
No matter what he did, he just couldn't wipe off the smile on his face. He kept tossing and turning, covering his face with his pillow, but it just wouldn't go away.
If the other rankers would see him now, they'd think he was crazy.
A knock on his door made him snap out of his thoughts. With a grunt, he rolled off his bed and headed for the door.
Once he opened it, the first person to catch his eye was Valeriana. He abruptly looked down when he felt a tug on his pants.
He saw Emmillyse looking up at him with a big smile on her face. To say that her smile was contagious was correct.
Before he could stop himself, he broke into a grin, brightening up his face.
Val was flabbergasted as she stared at the handsome lord's face. She shook her head, before she was caught looking.
"Good night, Emmillyse," she said. She bent down and gave the little girl a peck on the cheek.
She was about to walk away, when the little girl grabbed her hand again.
She turned back to her, and her azure eyes met with her pleading emerald ones.
'Can't you sleep with us?' she thought to her.
Valeriana's mouth fell open at the request. She quickly recovered, and bent back down so they were eye-level.
"Sorry, but I don't think its fine with Corvan," she said, as she ran her hand through the little girl's locks.
"What wouldn't be fine with me?" the first ranker asked. He was partly getting annoyed and jealous that Val could talk to his sister.
The fifth ranker looked hesitant, but one glance at the pleading look on the little girl, she spoke.
"She wants me to stay and sleep with you guys," she said.
Corvan's brows rose to his hairline, as he turned to look at Emmillyse.
Just like Val, one look at the little girl and he couldn't bring himself to say no. He didn't want to upset her, seeing that tears were already starting to form on the edges of her eyes.
Besides, a part of him didn't really mind sleeping on the same bed as Val.
He sighed.
"Its fine with me," he said.
Val looked stunned as he carried his little sister in his arms, and opened the door for her to enter his room.
Valeriana hesitated, but Corvan grabbed her arm and pulled her into the room.
She soon found herself lying on his massive bed, with the little girl between the both of them.
Surprising them, Emmillyse stood on the bed and looked down at the both of them. She had this gleam in her eyes that the both of them couldn't decipher.
She headed over to Corvan, and decided to lie on top of him, on her belly.
A smile tugged at the first ranker's lips at his little sister's actions.
Valeriana felt like she was intruding on a brother-sister moment, so she just turned her back on them.
Meanwhile, Emmillyse was giving her brother a look. And for some reason, Corvan understood what it meant.
Surprising Val, he slipped his arm under her waist, and pulled her close to them, with her head lying on his shoulder.
She turned to him and tried to move away, but Corvan gave her a look that told her to stay put. She trailed her gaze to Emmillyse and saw the girl grinning from ear to ear, obviously happy for their position.
She grabbed one of Val's arms and draped it over her and her brother. She then snuggled close to her Corvan's chest and slowly drifted to sleep.
Val looked up at Corvan, to ask him to let her go. But once she did, she saw him already asleep like the little girl.
She tried to pull away, but the more she did so, Corvan's hold on her tightened.
Truth be told, Corvan wasn't asleep yet.
He was busy enjoying the feel of Val's small frame against his, and the warmth that she gave off.
He was also preoccupied in trying to stop himself from smiling at Val's failed attempts to get out of his hold.
Eventually, the fifth ranker got tired trying to move away from the siblings, and she soon found herself in dreamland.
―――
"Hehehe...." Val heard a laugh. It caused her to wake up, but she didn't open her eyes yet.
"Shhh...you might wake them up," she heard Genevieve's voice.
"They look so cute together," this time it was Tamara's voice.
"I must say that I agree," Rowe said.
"Agree," Brindon said.
"I don't get why you had to drag me out of bed, just for this," Charles said with irritation lining his voice.
"Good job, Emmillyse. High-five...!" Zevlin whispered yelled.
There was a clap, and Val's eyes flew open. Once she did, Corvan's peaceful sleeping face fell in her line of sight.
She was pressed up close to him, with his arms around her waist, and one of hers over his torso.
She flushed a deep shade of red and sat up quickly. Her action caused Corvan to wake up as well.
They both sat up, and stared at the rankers present, with Corvan still half-asleep.
They all looked nervous, especially when Corvan turned to them.
Zevlin picked Emmillyse up and spoke.
"We'll keep an eye on Emmillyse. You guys can go back to sleep," he said, and ran away.
The others also disappeared in the speed of lightning and left a sleepy Corvan and blushing Valeriana.
"Well, you heard them," Corvan said.
Valeriana was taken aback when he pulled her down with him.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her flush against his chest. Val tried to move away, but he draped one of his legs over both of hers, and buried his face on the crook of her neck.
The fifth ranker was now effectively sandwiched against the first.
"Just sleep, you stupid witch," he said.
Val wanted to give him a retort, but when his breath landed on her skin, it sent multiple shivers down her spine.
She twisted a bit to look at the window. She cursed when it was still dark.
Like before, Corvan's hold kept getting tighter whenever she moved back. She sighed and just gave in.
She wrapped one arm over his shoulder and fell back to sleep.
#####
Hahaha...I don't know what else to say, but this is what I could do about the Emmillyse request.
I hope it's good.
While we're at it, can you guys check out my story, FIRMAMENT? Much thanks! I appreciate it.
