VIII. Au Revoir
TW / Suicide.

For the entire first half of the day, Jude's been having this sense of dread. She didn't know where it came from but knew that it wasn't good. The feeling of death only grew stronger, causing her insides to burn with worry as she didn't know what was going to happen but could feel that it was anything but positive.

Hence why she purposely kept herself in her dorm to avoid what was going on. After last night's events, her social media pages (which were often neglected) were bursting with notifications mainly her being tagged in multiple videos from last night. To say the least, she was disappointed about last night's events but not surprised. People can be egotistical assholes who only care about themselves and well that happened last night.

According to what her mind didn't block off, Jude went on a drug-induced tirade. She made it extremely clear to get her point across not caring if she hurt anyone's feelings during the process. She mainly yelled at Andre for his complete stupidity and disregard for what happened which only made Luke want to jump in a defend his best friend (wrong choice because she went in on him too). Then, Jude broke down into further rage because that's when she remembered Marie and how they left her there without even stopping to get her or see if she was alright.

Jordan did their best to calm down the teen but when someone has that much pent-up anger it is impossible. She also remembered the 'struggle' she put them through to get her home (basically forcing Luke to stop the car for her to get out and get Marie but they were long gone from the club by then), she was a total bitch but it was justified.

One thing Jude knew was that she did not feel bad for what she had to say to Andre because the entire thing was his fault and his lack of accountability only made her not regret it even further. But she did send some half-assed apology to Luke but made sure to apologize properly to Jordan in person for making them deal with her and her emotions last night.

By the time got out of her dorm, she could feel the hushed voice brimming with gossip, and for one of the first times in the times that she'd been at the university, Jude was the topic of her peer's discussions. And this time it's not about her punching Justine in the face. Everyone couldn't help but wonder what happened at the club and why was a Supe kneeling over a body.

Some theories were hilarious while others were utterly bizarre. Her favorite theory so far was someone claiming that they'd stage the incident to gain more publicity. It was utter bullshit because if she wanted publicity that bad she could've easily flashed her boobs in front of the Seven. Something she might've thought of doing but never acted on it.

But like her mother always said, all publicity is good publicity.

Speaking of the devil herself, her mother immediately caught wind of the news, and at 6 am she sent Jude a whopping number of 100 text messages. Jude half-read them not wanting to deal with her mother's antics. The last message she fully read talked about Brink.

With a roll of her eyes, the girl answered the texts (ignoring some completely) and exhaustion overcame her. (She might've still been tired from what happened the night before the incident plus she was still high off Molly.)

When she managed to finally wake up at exactly 8 am she noticed that she had a message from Brink who wanted her in his office. She'd already had a feeling that he got wind of what happened and got footage of the incident. When she got to his office he did and what he told her wasn't something she'd needed to hear.

So basically he was putting all the blame on Marie and leaving the rest of them to face the good publicity while she—the newcomer took the heat. She thought the idea was completely inhumane and only furthered her feelings towards him by a tenfold.

With that, she stood up tall, placed her hands on the table, and with a dark look in her eyes she answered "Go to hell." It sounded insane, especially saying that to the person who's ensuring the fact that you attend the school but at this point, she couldn't care less about how he felt. If you only knew the things she knew, the things she was told. You'd understand.

Skipping lunch, she wasn't in the mood to eat anything. The only thing that she'd consumed for most of the day was cranberry juice and an assortment of fruit. She also skipped two of her classes since the meeting with Brink took most of her time. Dressing in boring sweats and a hoodie (something she'd stolen from Jordan once again)

So far she hadn't seen Jordan, Andre, Luke, or Cate. Hell even Marie.

She had a feeling that they all had the same meeting as she did except theirs didn't end up like hers.

Deep down she did hope the girl was alright, she'd seen some of the videos that people tagged her in from different directions and Marie did save the woman's life.

But aside from that, something has been eating away at the girl from the inside. Remember that dread from earlier? Yeah, it had to do with that and regarding a certain someone. Luke.

There is something that Jude has been hiding from everyone, nobody knows except for her...and Jordan. She decided especially after her episode that she'd finally tell him. It's been eating away at her for a while and could no longer evade what she thought was the truth.

She didn't know where Luke was so Jude took out her phone and rechecked her messages. It wasn't normal for Luke to not answer her phone. He's hardly ever without the device. Could he be at a meeting? Practice? With Andre? With Cate.

She even texted the boy she was oh so still angry at and he didn't even know where his own best friend was. Cate was M.I.A so the girl couldn't exactly reach her.

Eventually, Jude found herself walking back to Brink's office.

Maybe she'd overreacted, or maybe her emotions were getting the best of her once again. But what she did know was that she was going to find Luke and tell him the truth.

Just then when she walks down the hallway deep in thought, her eyes land on a retreating figure. Jordan. Jordan fucking Li.

Leaping in what is called courage Jude calls out to Jordan, her feet getting the best of her. They eventually slowed their pace and turned to face her. Looking at her hands she meets their gaze before continuing, "I know I've said so many sorry's these past couple of days but for last night I'm sorry for putting you in that predicament and me getting so overtly angry about the whole thing."

Jordan remained quiet for a bit, their eyes searching the girl before them only to find vulnerability "Um, yeah it's okay. Honestly. I've dealt with worse so you telling us the obvious truth isn't hurting."

Jude nods looking around awkwardly. Clearing her throat she rubs her arm "Uh, well have you seen Luke? I have to tell him something important."

Jordan nods but senses that there is a double meaning behind her words. The frequent fidgeting, the avoiding in the eyes. Stepping back they looked at her with slightly wide eyes "I-I thought we swore to keep it to ourselves."

Jude raised her hands almost as if she had given up. With a sigh, she speaks up "I can't anymore. It's been eating at me for days. I can't continue looking at his face pretending as if I weren't the cause for his.—"

Before she could finish her sentence, the heavy sound of footsteps growing closer echoed behind them. Neither could process as a female voice shouted "Run!"

Before Jude or Jordan could react, a body slammed into both of them roughly, sending them crashing onto the ground.

Jude met the ground roughly, her back hitting against the lockers causing her to let out a wince. Slowly getting up she leveled her eyesight to whoever bumped into her "What in the actual fuck—Marie?"

Jordan got up rather quickly, their voice angry with confrontation, "Hey, what the fuck?"

Marie didn't even have the chance to respond or explain why as a male voice with deadly undertones voice echoed through the hallway, "Marie!"

The trio abruptly turns around only to see Luke, who is completely naked, his body aglow with fire. Though a couple yards away from them Jude instinctively steps back.

Jordan who remained calm, cautiously approached Luke as the flames subsided, revealing him to be fully nude. Jude who was a little perplexed at the entire situation kept her eyes trained on Luke's face because she knew that if she took the chance and looked down her eyes would immediately land on something that she did not want to see.

Taking a step forward Jordan begins "Uh, Luke, what's, uh..." Jordan paused, glancing behind them to see Marie in a defensive stance and Jude looking alarmed, "What's going on?"

Luke only remained silent and simply gazed at Jordan with tears welling up in his eyes.

Just what happened in that office. Was the first thing that appeared in Jude's mind. From her peripheral vision, she could see Marie pulling out something silvery and sharp. Turning her head all so slightly, she kept some eye contact with Luke.

Looking down at Marie's hands she noticed that she was holding a pocket knife. Lifting to fingers, she subtly motioned for the girl to lower it not wanting a bigger issue than what seemed to be happening to brew.

Once the girl did just that, Jude resumed full eye contact with Luke. The feeling of dread consumes her once more and when she looks into his eyes all she can see is misery. Just what did you see in that office Luke?

Jordan who was still trying to figure out what was happening clears their throat "Maybe..." They began, their eyes making the mistake of flickering downward to Luke's pelvic area, and blinked slowly "Maybe put your dick away?"

Luke remained still taking a sharp breath, his expression hardening into stone "Move." He ordered.

Jordan straightened their back and defiantly stated "Not until you chill out."

Jude had a feeling that there was something completely off about the entire situation. Taking slow and hesitant steps she was about to say something to Luke but Jordan who still had their eyes on the boy held a hand back which ultimately stopped her from doing so.

"You're in on it too..." He trails off thinking that he has come to a conclusion but is only making things even more confusing than they already were "All of you."

"Luke, what the fuck is going on?" Jordan questions but it soon fell on deaf ears.

Gritting his teeth, he yells "Move!" Once nobody did as such, they all watched as flames suddenly erupted from Luke's skin.

Stepping back Jude grabbed onto Jordan's arm to move but it was already too late the only thing she saw at the moment was Luke charging towards them, the flames engulfing them both.

Jude was quicker though her eyes glowing red a force field naturally surrounding her and Jordan. After the flames had evaporated Jude looks at Luke with a slight glare "Calm the fuck down."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jude was about to do something when  Jordan suddenly turned towards both her and Marie who still stood there "Go now!"

Gritting her teeth Jude obliges and sprints down the hall with Marie ahead of her. Just when she was about to turn the corner, a loud slam was heard and all she saw was Jordan sliding across the hall and it was enough for her to start seeing red.

Eyes darkening and glowing even brighter, she ignores Marie's shouts facing Luke. Cracking her neck she runs straight towards him. He tries to lunge at her but she's quicker sending various energy projectiles toward the boy.

A majority of them sent him flying backward, crashing into glass. With one hand moving in the left direction a large piece of concrete breaks away from the surface hovering over her, in one swift movement she slams into Luke causing a loud groan to escape his lips.

Taking advantage of Luke's momentary vulnerability, Jude sends a kick to Luke's chest, causing him to fall onto his knees with a grunt. Closing the distance between them Jude casts what most could call a spell the fiery wisps of red that escaped from her hands turned into large chains, flying in Luke's direction. Every set of chains grabbed a hold of Luke's arms, and feet, the very last one settling around his neck tightly.

She held her grip on him for a moment until he caught her by surprise rising to his feet with grunts escaping his lips. With both hands, he grabs the chains that were on him lifting them with increasing strength, twisting them upwards sending Jude flying into a nearby wall.

The impact created a dent in the wall, her body slamming into the floor, a pained wheeze escaping her lips. Jude eventually gets up but before she can process anything she feels cold arms wrapping themselves around her neck. Luke lifted her into the air with ease, pushing her body onto the wall as if it were a mere ragdoll.

A wheezed gasp escaped past her lips, her hands clawing down at his. One hand attempted to reach at his face but she could feel his grip on her throat tightening. Struggling to breathe she manages to get a hand near his face and that's when it happened.

Her fingers moved at a rapid pace, appearing as if it was moving in stop motion. Her eyes glowed even brighter. A flicker of red appears in Luke's eyes, his movement stilled, stopping as whatever Jude was doing caused him to stop moving.

Sooner than later with her powers, she made Luke start seeing what appeared to be his brother Sam. Mind Manipulation. Instead of it being her that he was seeing, it was his brother inside. Jude could feel his hold around her throat loosening as Luke's eyes soon welled up with tears.

"Sam...?" He croaks out almost not wanting to believe it. It couldn't be. Sam was dead. Sam killed himself.

With a nod, she continues to mess with his mind even going a step further and altering her voice to sound like his "Yes...it's me."

The fire within Luke slowly dies down, his eyes flickering with tears blinking them back harshly as they can't believe what they are seeing. A choked gasp escaped his lips "But I thought."

Jude only smiled at him in her mind she focused on the energy thrumming just beneath his skin, feeling it calm down. With a somber look, she answers "I'm sorry." Deep down inside she knew that she was saying sorry for what happened and it made her feel at ease. Her eyes glowed once more a surge of power escaping her hands sending Luke staggering backward and releasing his grip on her neck.

Rubbing her neck Jude then slams her hands together a burst of energy slamming between them causing even her to step back. Steading herself she sees Jordan step beside her. With a nod, they both rush towards Luke.

Almost as if they were working together as a tag team, they both landed blows on Luke as he barely had the chance to process it all. During the fight, Jordan shifted from female to male seamlessly. When Jordan struck Luke with brutal force of energy, it sent all three crashing to the floor in a tangled mess.

Jordan ended up slamming into the pillar, its fragments landing on them as they fell forward to the ground.

Jude was just a yard away from them slowly
getting on her feet. Once she got up she felt a piercing pain in her left arm. Knowing that it was dislocated, she bit back the pain and popped the bone back in place a pained gasp escaping her lips. Her breathing came out hard her eyes taking in as Luke advanced on Jordan. He proceeded to unleash a large ball of fire, which ultimately made Jordan shift back into their male form once again.

Just as Jordan managed to get up they didn't have time to react as Luke's grip closed in around their throat. With relentless strength and speed, Luke hoisted them up the pillar their grip tightening. Jordan gasped for air, veins pulsating against their forehead as Luke's grip only got worse.

Life was slowly leaving Jordan's eyes as they gasped for air repeatedly.

"No!" Jude's powers got the best of her, her emotions reacting faster than her brain. Ripping Luke off of Jordan she holds him up with all the strength she has and slams him into the ground.

Breathing heavily Jude slowly levitates into the air. Luke hadn't even gotten the chance to get up as Jude lifted him in the air. Titling her head she looks at him before flicking her wrist sending the boy flying into a wall.

Jude lifts his body once more and proceeds to slam him through various pillars in the building. Luke was not groaning in pain having been slumped over on a wall. Lifting him once more, Jude flicks her wrist, and that sends him flying through glass doors.

Lowering herself onto the floor, she rushes over to where Jordan lay slumped over. Kneeling she cups their face into her hands "H-Hey are you alright?" She asks searching their face for a response.

"I'm...fine." Jordan winces in slight pain as Jude helps them to their feet. Jude whose eyes were still glowing nods and steps back. Looking at Jordan for one moment she turns before exiting through the large hole in the door.

Confusion and gasps rippled through the front of the school as students watched the altercation. Calmly, Jude was already making her way towards Luke who was steadily rising on his feet.

Keeping her eyes solely on Luke, she slowly made her way towards him but made sure to come to a safe distance in case he tried anything.

"Luke..." Jude called out, softly just for him to hear. Luke only stood still the flames around him intensifying as a warning. Jude however ignored that warning and kept moving "Hey!" She called out but a bit more forcefully. She wanted to get his attention.

Luke turned around but instead of anger, he had tears in his eyes. Jude stopped now face to face "Don't look at them," She began knowing that he would look around to see a camera "Look at me...and me only."

The flames surrounding Luke subsided, his voice aching with regret. "I-I fucked up. It wasn't supposed to happen like this."

Jude who wasn't so sure about what he meant nodded reassuringly "I know—I know. We all fuck up sometimes. I fucked up too...badly and...I'm so sorry."

She didn't mean for that to come out that way but when you're overwhelmed with emotions the one thing you try to keep hidden comes out.

Luke looks at her with a confused gaze "W-what? You're sorry for what?"

Jude stepped back not wanting to say it in front of everyone. She wanted to tell him privately but due to the circumstances she might've lost the opportunity "I.—"

Flames begin to form once more and Jude knows that it would only lead to chaos. Stopping him before he could react, she cups his face gently, bringing some of her fingers to his temples.

His eyes glowed a faint red as she allowed him to see what she'd been hiding for so long. Tears came out of her eyes as she did so but it was about time that she told him the truth.

Once it was over Jude immediately placed her hands down. Her eyes search his for a reaction but only see nothing. Luke steps back blinking rapidly. Looking around him he notices the cameras before stopping at Jude. It takes him a second to process what just happened before speaking up "You? What—Sam's alive."

Jude stumbled backward in shock at his words. Not believing what he said, she looks at him "A-alive?"

Luke stared at her for a long moment, his expression filled with conflict, shaking it off it looked like he was about to lunge toward her but instead walked right past her and straight to Andre.

Andre accepted the hug, whispering assuring words to Luke who looked blankly ahead. Pulling away from the hug Luke steps back his eyes igniting with flames as he looks at Andre and Jude. "I'm so sorry," He apologizes.

Flames intensified around his body, and a single tear escaped his now-closed eyes. In an instant, he shot into the sky and continued on for a minute.

Jude gazed up at the sky, her eyes seemingly never leaving the flames that surrounded Luke's body. Time seemed to have its way of showing people the worst. A deafening pop filled the air, and then the flames surrounding Luke intensified until it was no longer.

Luke had just detonated himself in the sky. Luke just killed himself in front of everybody.

Screams surround Jude but she remains still only flinching as the feeling of warm blood and tiny flecks of body parts splatter all over her skin and clothes.

Like the prom scene out of Carrie except this was real. Not a pigs blood in sight.
