Dan Howell- House (h)

When it came to having a new house, it was no secret that you wanted everything to be practically perfect.

You had never really liked the whole idea of when you rented a property, you weren't allowed to make it your own – well you might have been allowed but you still had to change it all again whenever you moved out, so there was never much point in actually putting all of the work in to begin with.

Being able to paint, furnish, decorate a place that you owned and had no restrictions on what you could and couldn't do was something pretty great and you couldn't complain about it.

After getting married to Dan, the both of you made the decision to move out from the flat that you shared with Phil and get a house of your own.

It was so strange to not be living with Phil, you spent so much time living with him and then to not have him around made a lot of things seem strange.

Phil basically had his own room in your house anyway so it wasn't like he couldn't stay there, and you knew that he would be there often enough for it to seem as if he was living with you.

Technically, you and Dan had moved it but nothing was painted so nothing had been unpacked out of boxes apart from the complete essentials like toiletries and clothes plus you had to build your bed so that you could sleep – too many takeaway containers were in the bin too, needless to say you were yet to cook in your new kitchen.

You and your husband were sat on the floor of your living room, your furniture covered in dust sheets, colour swatches in front of you whilst the two of you attempted to decide what colour you wanted.

"How about a pastel colour?" you suggested, pointing at a pastel blue that you quite liked.

Dan turned his attention to the one you were pointing at, and picked it up to scrutinize it a bit more, "I can see that in this room – but will it suit the furniture?" he questioned.

You quickly scanned the room to look at the sofa, two armchairs, coffee table as well as the fireplace that was built into the wall.

You looked back to Dan and shrugged in response "Well...the sofa and chairs are kind of a cream to white leather, so I guess they'd fit in a bit whilst the coffee table matches the fireplace so I guess it would all work" Dan mumbled to himself to answer the question that you didn't answer.

"So, we have decided on a colour for this room?" you asked and Dan nodded in agreement "Great...now we need to decide on all the other rooms we have in this house" you didn't speak in such an enthusiastic tone.

Dan laughed at your words, reaching out to pull you into his lap so that your back was resting against his chest "Can't we just cuddle in our lovely new home" he suggested but also complained at the same time.

You giggled at his actions, but didn't protest when he buried his face into your neck and started lightly kissing it "That's what we've been doing for the past two days – nothing is unpacked yet, we're hardly settled in, we haven't even cooked in this house yet" you rambled off different reasons as to why you needed to get things done.

He sighed and then pressed a kiss to your cheek "Sweetheart, you need to stop stressing out so much" he gently told you "We can do all of this in our own time. It's all part of the fun of getting a house together" he explained as he kissed your cheek again "We make this our home by spending time picking our colours, deciding where we want things to go, changing our minds every once in a while because this is where we want to spend our lives together and it's worth it" you couldn't help but smile at both his words and how he continued to kiss your cheek as he spoke.

"I love you Dan Howell" you stated, turning around to press a kiss to his lips.

He smiled into the kiss, pulling away slightly to look you in the eyes, "And I love you my lovely wife"
