Chapter 5 Friends?
BLAIRE's P.O.V
"Shut your fucking mouth up! You frail girl!" he warned.
Then strike me with the gun on my medulla oblongata and threw me aside. A puddle of blood has already formed around my skull.
"Escape Lily, fast; use the back exit..." I repeated over and over.
But the man fired two shots and left her breathless, beside me...then the sirens and another bullet were fired...
The sound caught my heart; I opened my eyes and sat upright, sweating heavily, my lungs fought for air to breathe. As the days were passing by, my nights were getting more excruciating to withstand. Every night I got swept away by one or the other nightmare. I climbed out of my bed and walked up to the window for unsullied air to breathe. It was absolutely quiet out there. It was a beautiful view with the lights glowing brightly in the darkness. The real view was featuring the main road which was festooned with lights all over, it seemed quite busy.
In the midst of luminosity and silhouette, my eyes caught the attention of something. Some eleven feet away or so, alongside the maple tree, I saw a shadow of someone. Someone was surely standing by it. Moreover, a car was also parked at a distance. The sight even tensed me more as dad wasn't at home.
What should I do? Tensed, my body stiffened and I pulled the window panes.
Sleep was out of my way by then. I sat on the bed and plugged in my earphones to get distracted. After an hour or so, I opened the glass door of the balcony which was attached to my room and went out bravely to take another glimpse. The person still stood out there and I could say that it's a man and he was staring at my direction. I ran back into my room, tucked myself safely in my comfy bed and tried to sleep. I have school the next morning. Finally, sleep came to me when hassle and strain took over my body.
Sunlight poured through the window pane poking me to wake up. I turned on my IPad and logged in my school id. That day was, Friday. It portrayed the day's agenda which consisted of - Geography, gym, then lunch then sociology, English and finally science. Again a new day, a new beginning. I slipped on a shirt and paired it with frayed white shorts. To be honest, I didn't know their standards but I wasn't planning to ditch the party. I walked downstairs ready to head to school. I bid dad good-bye and drove off.
I could feel the heat outside, though it was pleasant weather of August. I parked my car and waved at Jasmine who was waiting outside. While moving out, I noticed that sexy Ferrari parked beside my car. I stopped for a moment to gawk at it and then took another glance at it before finally walking out. A bell rang and we both knew we have fifteen minutes to reach our classes.
"What do you actually do in gym classes?" I asked out of blue.
"They give you a lesson on self-defence, combat skills, your fitness, boxing also," she said with a dismayed look.
"Do you have gym today?" she added further.
"Yeah..."
"Well, I wish you some great luck then," she giggled as we parted ways.
Well, geography was kinda boring. Mr Covington was a nice man but I didn't have any interest in learning about soils water and blah blah blah! The first hour of the day was over. I headed towards the locker room while a guy fell in step beside me.
"Hey, I'm Duncan. I saw you in the cafeteria last day," He beamed.
"Yeah. I guess I saw you too," I shrugged.
"Friends?" he asked sheepishly.
"Sure. Cool."
"So? What do you have now?" he asked.
"Gym"
"Same pinch. Gotta see you there," he winked and parted ways.
That was weird, however, but I was happy that people were coming to me and like making me friends, inviting me to their parties. Like, who wants to be a lonely soul in a highschool bruh? Being unnoticed in a highschool totally sucks. I walked down the hall and to the locker.
I put on my jersey paired with tennis shorts and canvas shoes and headed towards the gym. The gym was huge. I entered the hall to face 50 punching bags hanging from metal hooks.
"Hey, Ms Blaire Willy," a voice approached me.
"I'm coach Thomas and there she's Aurora," he introduced as the lady smiled at me.
"We both conduct gym classes and sports classes here."
"It's very nice to meet you but honestly I'm much worse than a novice in sports and this stuff. I hope to learn things quickly," I replied, quite moved by the warm welcome I received from everyone.
"I know you will. I fixed you up with the best in this class who can train you better, I believe. Well, your partner is Christian."
"What?" two voices fired up at the same time. I turned around to see Christian standing.
"But coach..." he started to protest.
"Nothing Mr. woods just start off with practice," He commanded and went around.
He stood still for a few moments. I could understand that something was going on in his head but what? He was drowned in some profound thoughts. Einstein in making. Finally, he shook his head and put a smile on his face. I couldn't understand whether it's authentic or enforced.
"Nice to meet you again, beautiful," Christian laced his voice in a flirty manner.
"Same here, ” I blushed.
Did he just call me beautiful? But last day his words...
"Now come let's start with the warm-up" he cut through my thoughts.
We did some exercises for arms, ankles, and wrist. We did some step-ups, step down and sit-ups too.
"Now pushups," he said.
"Push-ups?" I exclaimed.
"Its already too much and moreover I can't do pushups" I argued.
"No excuses, Willy. I will make you learn," he said coolly.
"Now arms straight. The full body should be straight especially knees. Knees shouldn't bend. Put all your weight on your arms, ” He commanded and I followed his instructions.
"Straight," he said placing a hand on my waist. I flushed.
"Your body will stay still only your arms will move up and down, and so will your body."
"And don't fold your knees," he added again.
After almost fifteen minutes, I learned to give one quite perfect by seeing him doing. A bell rang and I thought the class is over but Thomas announced a ten-minute break.
"Don't worry another twenty-five minutes are left," he said as he handed me a bottle of water and a face towel.
I drank a sip from my bottle and tucked some hair behind my ears. "Uh....may I ask you a question?" I hesitated.
"Yeah sure," he said.
"Umm...What did you mean, I mean yesterday...uh...whatever you said to me," I stammered.
After a long pause, "Are you going to the party tonight?" he asked avoiding my question.
"Yeah. Maybe." I shrugged.
"Times up," declared Aurora.
Our conversation was cut off and remained incomplete. The class continued for twenty-five more minutes. My hands and fingers were paining hard by now. The class was quite nice and would remain nice forever if he would be my partner forever. The way he held my hand when he was teaching me the right way to punch, the way he was careful that I shouldn't get hurt, everything was wonderful, everything. I smiled through my heart. The whole day dragged out and I hoped to see him again in English class but he didn't appear and his vacant seat kept staring at me.
Well in two days I made quite a lot and good friends whom I could count on - Jasmine, Sophia, Erie, Duncan, and James too. But I couldn't understand why Christian wanted me away from him. Thinking all this hell and heaven, I reached the parking lot. I was going to unlock my Audi when I noticed him leaning against a Ferrari. He looked damn much sexier with his car. I met his eyes for a moment and glanced back the other second. I felt his eyes studying me from top to bottom. My cheeks burnt red and my tiny shorts could barely hide my legs. I slid into my car, took another look in his direction and then drove off.
•••••••••
All right, there I was at Sabrina's weekend party and the gathering was huge. I walked in with Jasmine as I know not many people here but soon parted. Paving my way towards the insides, I bumped across a hard chest.
"Sorry, " I muttered without a second's loss.
"Hey," he called back.
"You're the new girl at Madison's right?"
I nodded to his question as I tucked a golden lock behind my ear.
"I'm Kevin," he extended a hand to shook and I took it without any hesitation.
"I saw you at school the other day,"
"Alright," I shrugged.
"Umm...would you mind...," his voice stopped in its track as someone interrupted us.
"Excuse me, jock."
We both turned to the source.
CHRISTIAN's P.O.V (Yes, you read it right)
The first day I saw her, I knew that I am gone for good; my brain, heart and even my soul went missing. I never felt the urge to shielding someone so much before. I have never felt that way before for anyone at first sight. That was a night of accident but things have changed and life brought us together in the frame again. I couldn't control anymore staying away from her, making or rather creating the distance. The more I fought the urge of going near her, life was bringing us more close making it damn fucking difficult and worse for me to control my feelings. Why was she so different?
I knew she'd be there at Sabrina's gathering and so I did. At least I believed that she'd come. I leaned against a door with a tequila shot in my hand, monitoring the front gate for her appearance. She should have come by now. But Jasmine wasn't there till then, so I didn't leave hope. I gulped down my shot and ordered for a second one.
"Hey baby," Helena whispered in my ear and hugged me from behind, raking her hands all over my body
"Hey," I replied, disgust taking over me.
I don't feel like doing anything deprave, spoiled or dirty. I don't even want them touching me.....I couldn't even recognize myself. What the fuck has happened to me? I turned back to face her.
"Why do you always have to be so disgusting? Can't you just leave me alone," She couldn't hear me over the loud music so I had to repeat it over.
"Go to hell," she spat and walked away.
I fixated my eyes on the entrance again and then I caught a glimpse of her. When did she come? I could see her back. I knew she looked like an angel. The short bright-red bodycon dress hugged each curve of her body so damn tightly, making it most prominent. I thought not to mingle but then I saw Kevin having a nice chit chat session with her. Well, I could never trust this jocks. No other sport was as dirty as football was in our school. Bad people, dirty nature and all kinds of spoilt behaviour and habits one can find among those players.
"Excuse me, jock," I said walking up to them.
"I guess you're forgetting who the real boss is....," I trailed off.
He shrugged and took a sip of his drink.
"Willy, may I have your time?" I asked for a private moment with her.
She stood in front of me, her eyes reflecting my depiction. She looked damn goddess in her attire. Her dirty blonde hairs were curled and lay peacefully on her shoulder. The solid fabric just tried their best to hide her chest and all the way up to her knees. The top layer was soft chiffon which revealed her belly semi-transparently. The boat neck made her dress more eloquent, revealing her low-rise collar bones. Even showing off the least skin among everyone else there, she looked the most beautiful. The solid fabric hugged her hips in a tight embrace and then dropped down, screeching to a halt just before her knees. At last, the red stilettos completed her. My eyes studied every inch of her body, her ivory skin her pink plump lips as soft as marshmallow; at last, I hit her eyes. Soft, warm, caring, charming and innocent black - blue eyes and that unknown yet very familiar scent.
I was so lost in observing her that I didn't perceive that some eyes were inspecting us carefully, even her eyes were also somewhat curious. I shook my head, realising that I was staring at her for the last ten minutes.
"Let's just talk," I said walking off to a more lonesome place.
We sat in the sinister, a little away from the party music and gathering. Her presence seemed to lit up that consign. I handed a glass of lemonade to her.
"I want to talk to you," I said.
"Yeah. Sure. Go ahead." she smiled.
"Actually that day, I mean I spoke to you in a very rude way and I'm really sorry for it. I want to clear myself. Actually, I don't carry a nice reputation in and around the campus and I know you have already heard the rumours. Those are factual. Even there are much more to it, ” I exhaled, “I don't want the teachers to think that we are friends and bring down your image too. But I can't stay away from you. Trust me I always feel like staying with you. I'm sure you'd be a splendid buddy," I ended in one breathe.
A long pause.....
There was still that tranquillity and serenity in her eyes, and a bit of understanding flashed in her eyes. She hesitated and then placed her hand over mine. For the first time, I felt something different in someone's touch. Maybe it was an act of comforting me, soothing me and cooling me down.
"Would you like to go for a drive," I asked.
"Um...in your Ferrari?" she asked back.
"Yeah, if you don't mind," I hesitated.
"I would never ever, that's forever a yes," she laughed.
For me, that was the sweetest sound I ever heard. We drove off. Everything was dead quiet and the night seemed exceptionally beautiful that I can't even articulate it in terminology. No one spoke much during the drive; neither of us knew where we were going rather.
"So are we friends now?" she asked.
"Obviously, dumbo. Without any doubt. But underground okay, Don't let the teachers know," I replied.
I grinned and she smiled back. I screeched to a halt after a few minutes or so.
"Come let's go," I said.
"Where are we?"
"At the skate park," I replied back.
"But I can't skate. I don't..." she mumbled out.
"Now put these roller skates on," I cut her off.
"You trust me?" I asked.
"Sure I do but..."
"Then just put these on and hold my hand tight okay?" I said reaching out for her hand.
"Okay," she blurted out quite nervously.
I held her hand and skated all through the vicinity; she accompanied my moves and never got misbalanced. Her hand felt so perfect in mine. We skated for like an hour and then sat down reaching for breath.
"It was exciting," she exclaimed.
"No, it was super exciting, thrilling, stimulating and electrifying one," I said in a low whisper.
"This is one of my favourite place in this whole world. I used to come here as a kid whenever I was sad or depressed," I added.
"I can already imagine you as a person who'll be damn close to my heart. A close friend or maybe much more than that. I have very few friends whom I can even count on my finger. I don't allow everyone around me," I breathed out.
"Then, why me?" she asked.
"Because you are different that's why. 'Cause you make me feel pleasant. You are not like other girls out there who probably belong from sluttyville and continuously throw themselves on us. You are a different spark from the ignited fire," I said smiling back at her.
We talked for hours sitting under the open sky. That was a perfect night of the summer.
▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️
"Lemme drop you home" I suggested.
"Cool."
"Where do you live?" she asked.
"Umm...that's, I guess a long story. I will tell you later sometime," I said beaming at her. I drove her to her home.
"So get to see you Monday again right?" she asked back.
"Maybe sooner than that."
She smiled. I watched her going inside and disappearing through the frontage access.
