Chapter 40 - Danger while finding peace.
Christian's POV
Sunshine, you look so innocent while you sleep, that fierce angry lady all gone in a moment. You don't even know how much danger you were in just a few minutes back and that's all because of me.
I'm so sorry sunshine.
“If I haven't reached on time tonight then they might have kidnapped you, or worse. It gives me goosebumps whenever I think of you being away from me,” I mumbled.
What if I lose you forever?
No, I couldn't let that happen.
I put her down on the bed and closed the door behind me. The first thing I needed to do right sorted out everything that's going wrong.
Because if I'm not close to you, I can't protect you.
After I reached the hostel, I banged on the door of Duncan's room. After a while, he responded with half-opened eyes and a groggy voice. No doubt he was in the middle of his dreams.
I grabbed his hand, "Keep your fucking mouth shut and come with me," I said dragging him to the common room.
"Duncan, do you know anything about Blaire and stuff? Why is she doing that to me? Why is she behaving like shit to me?
"You gotta know that better dude," he shredded off.
"Why, means why do you even care? It's your natural behaviour ain't it? And you deserve that."
"Oh, god damnit, I don't understand. Please explain or fuck off," my voice holding my anger.
"Well, Chris. It all happened that night at the party. You probably slept with some other girl, some cheerleader girl I guess and Blaire saw that...," He trailed off.
"What?" My jaw dropped band eyes came bulging out of its sockets.
"Why the fuck did everyone think I would do that? I don't need fucking anybody else except her. And what on earth are you talking about?" I threw questions at him all at once.
"And the most bloody thing is I don't remember anything from that night. I was with a girl but that was for getting out some secret information and then slowly everything blurred out. It was indeed a huge conspiracy, fuck that man...," I growled.
"Wait for a second, Chris. You were even suspended from playing the last match right? Due to drug intake and something like that?"
"Hmm Hm...," I nodded.
"But did you do drugs?" He asked, his eyes narrowing.
"No, absolutely not."
"Then?"
"I just don't fucking know what's happening in my god damn life!"
"What did you do that evening?" He interrogated.
"Well, the team was together. We went to the outfield beside the pool and celebrated our two consecutive wins and then James gave me a drink. I took that and left for meeting that girl...,” I trailed off.
My eyes were wide with realisation. Blaire's words ringing in my ears, "Just be careful around James,"
"No, James won't do that," Duncan commented immediately.
"Yeah, sure he won't but anyone from the team," I kept enclosed whatever I have realised.
"Buddy, go now. I should go back to the room," I said patting his shoulder.
Suddenly every piece of the puzzle came together and everything, the whole image was crystal clear in front of my eyes. I walked back to my empty dorm room and paced around with a furious heart.
"I will put everything back to place, sunshine. Give me some time," I whispered.
Blaire's POV
I cracked my eyes open as strong and bright sun rays filtered in. Taking note of my surroundings, I figured I was in my room. There was a mild headache bothering me.
I don't remember coming back last night.
With a question mark, I stepped out of the bed and noticed a Sony music player on my bedside table. I took the player and the tape trying to figure out exactly what it contains. I placed the tape inside the small player and pressed play.
A soft and melodious tune of guitar chimed in..
"Oceans apart day after day
And I slowly go insane
I hear your voice on the line
But it doesn't stop the pain
If I see you next to never
How can we say forever
Wherever you go,
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you.
Whatever it takes
Or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you.
(Music)
I took for granted all the times
That I thought would last somehow
I hear the laughter, I taste the tears
But I can't get near you now...
Oh can't you see it, baby
You've got me going crazy.
Wherever you go
Whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes
or how my heart breaks
I'll be right here waiting for you,"
The player stopped. I knew that voice.
Thank you, Christian, for making my morning mellow and eyes moist with this fucking touching song. You sing beautifully, Jamie.
I strolled toward the bathroom, wiping away the tears.

It was like 10:30 in the morning when he came into the room. It was after like two days that we stood face to face. There was an awkward silence, the radiation to body warmth, the breath and the heartbeat all of which was once a comfort zone has suddenly turned to strange and radioactive.
"You're coming to the match right?"
"No"
"But why?"
"All right, you don't need to support me but at least for the school," he continued to insist.
"No," my voice clear and loud.
I got up and headed towards the door.
"Blaire, just listen...,”
"Why is it that you're always here? In my house?" I snapped and left the room.
Although I told him I won't be there but the truth is I went to the match or how else was I going to write their winning story on the front page, the day after. I sat with Aaron around the help desk so that they couldn't spot us.
As soon as they won, I drove out and didn't have any plans of returning before dusk. Adventuring and exploring new roads, new places and that new city was the best thing I could think of doing right then. I drove for a while and then suddenly the road was vacant and desolated. I could hear the waves and finally reached the deserted shore. The place was totally isolated. I got out of my Audi and strolled along the beach line. I inhaled a deep breath as I drank in the scenic beauty, enjoying the peace of mind.
I sat there for almost four hours, earphones plugged in with soft and slow songs hitting my eardrums. The noon rolled into a lovely afternoon. The sky was orangish and reflected the shade to the sea as well. I decided to go back before it was too late.
Suddenly a car pulled up and parked horizontally before mine. Five men in black bodysuits came out of the van and rushed towards me. I scanned them trying to figure out what was happening. I rushed to the car sensing something odd and dangerous.
Someone immediately caught hold of me right from behind. I fought back trying to free my wrists when another man came from the front. My limbs were the only thing left that I could use. I kicked him hard in the balls, as hard as I could and freed my wrist somehow by landing another kick on the other man's knee. I tried to reach the car when another blocked my way, without knowing what to do I shot a punch right in his face. He didn't budge and then smirked. Everything stopped the second a sharp object licked my bare skin. I caught a glimpse of a man who held a knife on my throat. The cold blade grazed against my skin, clawing its nails out. My hands got tied and I could do nothing, trying to free it was just met by my mere failures. The ropes were too strong and being on knifepoint makes you weak I guess. I took note of them for the one last time.
"What the fuck is this happening?" Finally, my voice came to life.
"Where the hell are you taking me?" I screamed but there was no way out. I was alone in here, not a single person.
"Hell. we're taking you to hell," a man with a deep and thick voice uttered.
Before I could request anything more, my eyes met the folds and greeted the darkness.
