Chapter 31 - The art of being together

Blaire's POV

"Dad," I muttered as I got out of the car.

"Princess, are you still out?"

"Yeah. Just..um...uh..out with friends," I said.

"Or maybe a friend," dad eyed Christian who was still in the car.

"Good eve, sir," he greeted hoping out.

"Hello, young man. I'm sure you're doing great,"

"Yeah. Sure,"

"Uh...dad we were just heading home," I interrupted.

"Okay, then you kids go on. I'll be there in ten," he got in and his engine roared to life.

"Young man, why don't you join us for Thanksgiving?" dad asked as he drove past us.

"Mr Willy is a good man," Chris tried to bring up the conversation.

"He seems to like me," he added.

"Really? 'cause I don't really like you," I smacked him hard on his arm and got out of the car as I reached home.

"Umm-hmm, don't move," Christian mumbled against my skin and I shivered. His face dove deeper into the crook of my neck and it was all tingles.

"Good morning," I murmured in my sleepy voice and snuggled closer to him.

For a second it was heaven but in a second, I was wide awake when the realisation hit me. I sat up on the bed.

"Get up, Chris. Why are you still here?"

"There's no school today, sunshine," he whispered.

"It's 9. Dad would knock anytime soon," and maybe he was just waiting for me to spell it out 'cause there's a knock at the door.

"Chris, get up," I pushed him hard.

"Oh! Holy shit," he sat upon the bed.

In a hurry, he unravelled the blankets and grabbed his shirt. "Yes dad," I answered the door as he wore his shirt. For a second, my heart jumped out of its place but he's gone.

"Good morning," I greeted, combing my fingers through my hair.

"Yes, good morning and I'm leaving for office, princess. Breakfast is ready, have it. That's it, I guess. Take care of the house and yourself."

"Yeah. Cool. Sure." I hugged him as he left.

Once again I was back in my room, sitting on my bed legs-crossed with my best friend called laziness.

"So your dad's left?"

"Woah! What are you -? I mean -- I thought you were gone," I stared with amusement at Christian.

“I was literally hanging down there from the balcony and how can I leave so early baby?"

"Oh! Please."

"What please?" His voice sounded with devilment.

He jumped on the bed and grabbed my waist pulling me closer and eventually on his lap. I wrapped my legs around his waist as his strong arms wrapped itself around me forming a strong hug. My breath beat against his neck and I continued teasing him slowly moving upwards along the edge of his jawline. My lips almost touched his skin, his neck tilted back but in no time, he gripped my neck and we were just inches apart from entwining our lips.

His lips came closer and mine parted slightly but he diverted and dug his head in the crook of my neck. My fingers travelled through his hairs as he teased me with his lips playfully. Tracing my collarbone and then making it all the way up to my ears.

My fingers wrapped around the back of his neck and I crashed my lips on his, perfectly entwining with the buttery movement. Our lips parted as our tongues met, dancing and twirling as if discovering each inch. The continuation of his nibbling at my lower lip dragged it much deeper into more velvety chemistry and more passionately electrifying. When our lips parted, we were utterly breathless. I just lost myself, sitting on his lap and staring into his eyes.

“Shall we have breakfast?” I whispered.

“I'm having mine right now,” he whispered as his lips brushed against my ear and he gently bit my earlobe.

“Ah!” a silent gasp left my lips automatically and I felt his smirk against my skin.

I started getting off him and down the bed while he grabbed me and pushed me on the mattress. A bucket of excitement drenched me as he hovered over me. I could feel his fingers slip under my shirt. His touch burned my bare skin and I wasn't breathing anymore. Sometimes, I hated how his touch affected me. I shut my eyes close but I could feel him smirking.

“Look at me, sunshine,” he whispered as he came closer. I could feel his breath on my face.

I opened my eyes to look directly into his eyes and gulped down. I studied his face carefully, his Adam's apple moved slightly as he gulped and then licked his lips. It was way too much silent and suddenly his lips came crashing down on me, snatching away all my breath. I kissed him back with all I had. His fingers rested against my stomach and then glided back to my waist. I felt like I could forget to breathe but I would never forget how kissing him felt. Our lips parted but his lips kept working. He trailed kisses down my jaw and slowly, very slowly trailed down to my neck. I tilted my head giving him more headspace. I felt his lips touching the tender spot as my stomach sank and a slight moan escaped my lips.

I didn't know it was a tender spot anyway until I felt his lips there.

“Breakfast sounds good to me,” he whispered against my neck.

“Hmm...” I mumbled, still in the trance.

Immediately it made sense and I felt blood rushing to my cheeks. I was blushing like a tomato while he watched me with amusement. I slipped under him and ran downstairs. I reached the kitchen and found sandwiches and two doughnuts.

I walked in and poured two cups of coffee when I felt a pair of arms around my waist. My body warmed up from the touch as he leaned in and placed his head on my shoulder. I relaxed, leaning my back against his chest.

“Running away from me isn't a good idea, apparently,” his voice, husky. I shivered again, the relaxation washed over.

“Chris, you don't want me to spill the coffee. Do you?”

“Spill it. Who cares?” I felt his lips against my skin again.

I turned around and handed him his cup as I walked to the counter, towards the breakfast. While I delved deeper into my doughnut, he stared at me, sipping his coffee. I caught his eyes a couple of times but he didn't even blink. My eyes wandered around the room, as I felt the situation was awkward.

“What?” I finally asked, irritated.

He shrugged, without breaking the eye contact. A smirk formed on his lips but I continued eating in silence. He finished a sandwich and sipped his coffee again. He placed the cup on the counter and stepped towards me. I was just three steps away from him. For no reason, my heart hammered in my chest.

One.

Two.

Three.

And that was it. He stood in front of my with his six feet tall self and I briefly met his eyes before turning my attention back to my sandwich. His arms snaked around me and he lifted me on the counter. I gave up on my breathing.

Why does he take my breath away every time he comes closer?

You guys are useless, I mentally said to my lungs.

He leaned in and brushed his lips slightly over him. He ran his tongue over my lips and then on the corner. I was dumbfounded. He stepped back a little so he could look into my eyes.

“Donut crumbs,” he said, grinning.

I was breathing again, although his hands were still on my waist.

“What is wrong with you today?” I mumbled under my breath.

“You are messing with me, my mind, that's all,” he grinned accusing me and I narrowed eyes at him.

“Get a hold on your testosterone levels, lover boy,” I smacked his chest.

“Testosterone levels, hah!” he raised his eyebrows and lifted me up, “let me show you testosterone levels,” he chuckled as he threw me on his shoulder and walked up the stairs.

Snuggling, kissing, cuddling, making love and playing board games were all we did. It was like a blink of an eye and the day was over. It was evening when he left but a smile, wide and broad always glued to my face. It was like something was wrong with me that everything seemed so right and perfect. There was always happiness lingering around or rather within me which kept me smiling always. An unknown scent of happiness.

The sun has set and the neighbourhood has lit up. I ran to open the door as soon as the car honked. A broad smile broke out on my face as my heart filled with delight, "mum," I whispered.

"I'm here, hun," she opened her arms wide for me.

"I'm so happy you're here, I still can't believe my eyes," I said as I hugged her tight.

"Yes, your mom's here and isn't leaving until new year's eve," I jumped to the ceiling and back as dad announced that and dragged her inside.

"Oh! This place seems like a mess," mom scrunched up her nose.

I pretended not to hear anything when dad called out loud, “always happens when I and princess are together. You know it, Mel,"

I laughed out, joining daddy's side.

"Did you read the newspaper today?" I asked him walking down the halls.

It was the last school day before the Thanksgiving holiday.

"No, why?"

"Read my page. It's filled with you," I smirked.

"Christian vindicated from the case of the sudden death of a student in St. Madison's," Christian arched an eyebrow and continued reading, "strong alibi by James and others."

"Told you," I said and parted ways.

"You make fabulous headlines by the way," he called out from the end of the hallway.

To be honest, I felt happiness although the way was wrong I saved someone innocent. It worked out just as we planned. Andrews blackmailed to leak the photos out from an anonymous number and there he was, on the line. After a continuous series of blackmail and even revealing the most basic picture we had, he finally agreed to provide an alibi for Christian. But the thought I was debating over is whether or not I should reveal that ‘he is probably using performance-enhancing drugs?’
