Chapter 20 - "Dont you dare"
Excursion day 4
Blaire's POV
“It's already four in the afternoon, get up Blaire. We need to get prepared for the party,” Jasmine chided.
“What are we gonna wear?” she whined.
“Hmmm, important question,” I said with a touch of mimic scrapping my left cheek with my right index.
“So which colour do you have in mind?” I asked back.
“Green,” Jasmine squealed.
“Yeah. That's obvious, your favourite,” I smiled back.
“So what's the problem? Everything's sorted you see?” I stated and went back to continue my beauty sleep.
It was already twilight when I woke up. Jasmine was halfway ready in her green outfit. It was a beautiful dress with a sweetheart neckline and chiffon sleeves up to her elbows. The length just fell a few inches below her knees. She walked around the room with her matching blocked heels.
I rushed to the washroom and almost had a heart attack when I saw my condition. I brushed up myself and put on my white halter neck dress, which travelled below my knees. A beautiful pair of white Dorothy Perkins made the rest. The diamond wristlet which Christian gave me dangled from my wrist like every other day.
It was dot 6:30 in the evening when the door was being knocked. I rushed to open it to find Christian, looking gorgeous in a red shirt, with sleeves rolled upwards and two buttons from the top left open paired with black formal trousers.
“May I have your hand beautiful?” He asked, his charm already playing its magic.
I let out a soft giggle and slipped out of the door, “I doubt you should.”
“Blaire wait...,” He called out reaching for me.

“Sunshine, listen intently. Be careful and act with maturity. Don't do anything childish,” Chris went on ranting and I waved my hand at him ignoring all his free advice.
“Blaire, not everyone is as good and innocent as you are. Do you know what happens actually? We usually assume the world to be as we are. We see them through an innocent and fair perspective but unfortunately, it's not. So think twice before you do something. And lastly, you are being fair to the world but don't expect to be fair to you in return,” his voice grew serious and I rolled my eyes.
“Oh! Please, Christian, stop acting like a big brother,” Jasmine stated.
“She's not a kid, she can take care of herself,” Jasmine declared as she grabbed my right hand and pulled me towards the crowd, while Christian was still clutching my left palm and then he slowly let it go.
I took a last glance at Christian before finally letting Jase guide me. I saw pain rolling onto his eyes. Unspoken pain as if he wanted me by his side for each moment. As if he wasn't willing to let go but had to because he just didn't want to dominate me.
CHRISTIAN'S POV
I leaned back on a table, toying with a glass of plain soda. My eyes roamed over the total span. Hundreds of students spilling out each second stuffing the garden. Within thousands of them, she stood highlighted, her smile was glowing.
“Hey bro?”
I saw James joining me out of the corner of my eye.
“Hmm,” I replied. My eyes never left her.
She laughed, joy flickered in her eyes. The way she was laughing was no less than heaven. I could transparently see the purity in her soul, she seemed bright and even brightest in the whole crowd. She looked like the peace fairy in her white dress and it seemed that with a little touch of pixie dust, she would fly. Fly higher and higher and make the sky so bright with her light within, that people would mistake it for a day.
“Chris!” Suddenly I heard my name being called.
“You aren't listening. Are you?” James asked, his face a little touch of disgust.
“Yeah, pardon,” I said with a sense of apology.
“Man, stop this kinda fucking behaviour. It doesn't suit you. I mean, you are not like ‘lovestruck teenager’ right? And moreover neither she's your type nor you are hers. So it's better if you don't step much further 'cause that will, in turn, mess up her life too. Ain't it?” he shrugged, advising me.
“Yeah, right you are,” I replied after a small pause and then walked over to a far corner that hid under silhouette.
I was searching for some loneliness when I noticed Sofia not far from me.
“Hey,” I said walking up to her.
We stood there away from the crowd just in taking all the fun from our eyes.
“You are a changed person now....,” I could hear her speaking silently and then trailing off.
“Yeah and all the credits go to her,” I pointed out at Blaire in the crowd. She was probably talking to someone.
“There's your girl, so why are you here?" She asked me out of nowhere.
“Well, I don't really enjoy crowds nowadays and moreover Blaire was talking about something's wrong with you. So, what's wrong?” I asked this time, finally looking at her.
“Nothing. You know what, life always pushes us away from all the things and people whom...,”
“Sorry but see you later...,” I walked towards the crowd leaving the conversation halfway.
I pushed through people and paved my way to her, I finally grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards myself.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” I barked at her.
“What's wrong Chris? I was just being friends with him.”
“Oh! well. Very well. You just made a friendship and accepted a drink from a person you met just now? And here I thought you were mature,” I was now being hard with her. How could she? After all my warnings and at last with this very person.
“Oh, man, come on,” He said.
“Shut the fuck up, Mr Kingston. I don't like third person interference in our conversation and moreover, I don't wanna hear a single word from you,” I warned.
I grabbed the drink which was still in his hand and smashed it to the tiled floor.
“For Christ sake, Christian, leave my wrist,” Blaire asserted.
“What's there for being so mad?” He assessed casually as his fingers wrapped around her wrist.
Anger boiled in my head. I didn't want to make any scenes here but it was hard to control. My finger curled into a tight fist almost piercing my own flesh and veins popped out as I clamped my jaws together.
“Back off,” I ordered him through gritted teeth.
“Back off,” I growled as I pulled him by his collar and shot a direct punch to his face.
“Christian, stop messing up,” She warned.
“Do you know who he is?” I shouted back at her. This time looking directly into her eyes. I could see nothing but an empty glare.
It was difficult for her to identify me right at that moment. She didn't know that side of me. I could see a flicker of doubt in her eyes as she stared at me in disbelief.
“Come out,” I pulled her out of the crowd and away from everyone.
I pulled out his phone and dialled one of our teachers,
“Hello, Thomas,”
“Blaire, I mean Ms Willy had just hurt herself and I guess that it's just a simple sprain in her ankle. I'm leading her to her room and Ms Taylor will help me out, ” I said over the phone.
“Sure, go ahead and take care, ” he replied.
“Yeah, certainly, thank you,” I muttered as I gripped her wrist tightly and dragged her towards the lodge.
“Christian, calm down,” Sophia pleaded, following us with hasty steps.
“She doesn't know him, right? It's not her fault at all.”
“Can anyone please tell me what the fuck is happening here? And yeah I'm not at any fault,” she stood up in her defence.
“And moreover, I don't understand what the hell is your problem, Mr Christian Freaking Woods? What's your problem if I go out and make friends? Who are you to lecture me or stop me? Yeah, you are indeed a good person, but know your margin and just be a friend. Are you my boyfriend? Guardian? Who are you ?” she pointed her index at me.
“Blaire! Stop being a bitch. You can't be that rude to a person....,”
“What? Person what? Speak out Soph,” she cut Sophia off.
“Blaire,” I placed a hand on her shoulder, my breath steady and calm to an extent. I
She brushed off my hand at once.
“Fine, I'm not touching you,” I said, jamming my hands back into pocket.
“Blaire, try to understand, ” I started.
“That was Dimitri Kingston, initials DK. Do you remember what I said last night? It's him, Blaire. Blaire, I warned you again and again. I went on warning you but you know what? You don't understand what it feels like. You don't understand what it feels like living my life! What it feels like losing people from your life constantly. You don't know how it feels like living without a perfect family. You don't. You just fucking don't! You are just a novice in this outer world and people will smash you like ants if you can't hold your place,” my voice was strained, depicted pain, anger, guilt, frustration and even I don't know what.
“That drink could be narcotic or alcoholic, but the strange thing is that you have adopted an ‘a-devil-may-care’ attitude in a fraction of moments. My Blaire wasn't like this,” I raised my hand to caress her cheek but stopped halfway and made it back into my pocket.
“Sorry, I forgot I'm not permitted to touch you,” I said and turned back. My words shot a dagger directly into my own heart.
Words can hurt more than anything.
“Well, if you can free yourself for a few moments from your busy life, then try to taste those feelings standing in my shoes, at least once,” I declared and left the room in fury.
