Chapter 11 - The very first kiss
Blaire's POV
We all gathered up. A smile tugged on each face. I was astonished seeing the changed Christian. I couldn't help myself but smile purely by observing how well he mingled with the group. Although he's still that bad boy Christian to the rest of the school, with whom nobody dared to take a chance. I wondered how we all became came in close proximity just within a few weeks. My eyes roamed around James's big house. Bunch of kids were littered here and there and the party hasn't even started yet. I wondered what it would look like when it'd end.
I passed by the studs, keenly observing everyone. The jocks, the spoilt, the intellectuals, the obsessed photographers, and some nerds too. The party had every possible kind of studs that we generally see in a high school.
I leaned on a wall frame, sipping a martini.
“Hey,” a voice came in like a whisper.
“You are?” I asked, turning my head towards him.
He had dark eyes and was no doubt a handsome redhead. There was a smirk playing on his lips.
“I'm Jason, Madison's football captain,” he extended a hand.
“Player, huh?” I threw a slight taunt as I shook his hand for a shake.
“Let's get straight to the point,” he said slightly leaning in,“ would you like to go out...”
Before he could finish, I stepped back creating a little more space between us and said,“ well, before you ask me out, I reject you.”
“Excuse me? What?”
“Yes, you heard it right,” I said as I gulped down my drink.
“You reject Jason Walker? You bloody...,”
“Yes, I'm. I certainly am,” I said, looking into his eyes.
“A girl rejecting me,” he laughed hard,“ girls die on me, you fool,” he said in between his laughter.
“You know who I'm?”
“You're Jason Walker as you said, the captain of Madison's football team. I don't keep any wish to know more about you,” I said and started walking away.
“Know your class, Willy. I'll get back to you I swear,” he called me from behind.
I wasn't afraid and why should I be? He wasn't the king there but something about his last words warned me that something's gonna happen at Madison soon.
"Knock knock," Duncan said on my face, breaking my trance.
"Yeah yeah," I said, slipping out of my train of thoughts.
"Chris was looking for you," he informed and walked off towards Sophia. Well, only his close friends get to call him Chris. It was kinda nickname.
I spotted Christian in a far corner, smoking a cigar. A few minutes back only I saw him mingling with everyone god knows when he went there. Well, I hate that smoking stuff but it's the first time I saw him smoke.
I reached up to him and he instantly threw it on the ground and rapidly stomped on it.
"You smoke?" A questioning look on my face.
"Well, yeah." He said as if guilty of show cause.
"But I never saw you smoking before," I added.
"Because...umm...I didn't want you to see cause I know you hate it," he said grinning sheepishly and I couldn't deny how adorable he looked.
What's wrong with yourself Blaire!!! Just stop thinking all this stuff, you both are just friends.
A waiter passed by and he picked up two drinks.
"Here's your lemonade margarita," He said.
"Why do you have a different one?" I asked, curious.
" 'cause I'm grown up and lemonade margarita is for kids," I rolled my eyes at his big- brother attitude.
"Well, I should try a different one," I announced picking up a blue drink.
"Sure!" Chris asked, his face still doubtful.
"Well, blue lagoon is a good one," he smirked.
"Hell yeah!" I declared and gulped it down my throat at once. For seconds, my vision was somewhat blurred but returned to normalcy soon.
"Do you know what you drank right now?"
"No," I said holding a second one in my hand. It was good; no, perfect.
He drank up his 'tequila sunrise' as he said and then continued, "it has vodka!"
As his statement, I stared at the empty glass with shock.
"So? I'm not a child anymore,” I muttered holding my chin up.
"Sure you ain't,” Chris chuckled.
"Alright, I thought I wouldn't do anything illegal. I thought I won't drink till its the 'legal' age you know but then again it's too far...,"
"Aww, such a saint," he laughed out and pulled me into a friendly hug, with a show of consolation as things didn't go as I planned previously.
Suddenly the speakers chimed in and the other music faded out by a voice. We walked back to the crowd.
"Hey everyone. A very good evening boys and girls, this is your host speaking. I have a surprise for you all," he said and then it was again replaced by music but a slow and romantic one.
I stood beside Jasmine as the crowd made way for James to walk in. Suddenly Christian pulled me towards him, away from Jasmine. It was not hard for me to notice that Jasmine was the centre of attraction but what was happening?
"Focus there," Christian whispered, pointing at James.
He slowly approached Jasmine and then stood in front of her with a great smile. I could see the glint of confusion in Jasmine's eyes. But his jade eyes were glittering today. Slowly he kneeled down on his right knee and then extended an open palm towards her.
"Dear, Jasmine Frost, would you oblige me by being my girlfriend for now and forever?" He asked with serenity. His voice is smooth and silky.
There was a long pause. The throbbing of the hearts could be heard. I know it's sounding very filmic but that was the real situation.
Jasmine blushed as her face tinged pink and then she finally managed to nod her head and say, "YES!"
On receiving her approval, the whole crowd burst into claps and cheers for the newly born couple. The situation seemed as if they got married or engaged. I mean love proposal that to soo formally?
She's just his girlfriend now but the crazy dudes were cheering as if they got married or something. Well, I was way too much happy for Jasmine. I predicted that beforehand and said to her that James dies on her but she refused. Well, that meant I know people.
He slowly stood up, as she bit her lower lip. He pulled the same black box out of his pocket and placed it open on his palm. The same pair of couple rings peeped out from them and now it hit me that why he made me choose rings today morning. He took the ring and slipped it in her middle finger of the left hand. Maybe he left the ring finger empty for the ultimate wedding ring. Jasmine took the gold band and slipped it on James's finger.
The crowd cheered loudly as they welcomed the new couple among us too 'so officially'.
"Let's dance," Sophia declared.
Immediately Duncan asked for her hand and led her towards the dance floor, our newly born couple followed them too and Eerie stood hands up declaring that she can dance and went on chatting with her girlfriend. I recently came to know though that she has a girlfriend.
"Shall we join?" Christian asked, pointing towards James and Jasmine.
Well, in these matters you can call me a geek. I mean it's not like I'm antisocial and introverted. Of course not but I just don't feel my comfort zone in parties, particularly the loud and littered ones.
He held my hand and led towards the dance floor. Inside it was a piece of slow music going on. My body tensed up as he held me by my waist and pulled me closer to his body. He embraced me by my waist and I wrapped my hand around his neck. With each step, he pulled me a little bit closer and the gap went on diminishing further. His warm breath continuously teased my bare shoulder. I closed my eyes, not able to control the temptation any longer. He sent one of his hands-frees, as he held me in the air by my waist, against his chest.
His fingers travelled up to my back and traced the edge of my chin finely, running down to my neck, sensitively tip-toed on my bare shoulder and skated all the way down to my fingertips.
I opened my eyes to meet his fierce, blue gaze intently drowning in my eyes. In less than a moment, he lifted me up and walked towards the back door. We came out in the lawn, the backside of the lawn where there were none other than us. The music was something rock but the sound here was low and nature was pleasing.
He bounded me in between himself and the wall and gazed into my eyes. My cheeks flushed and heart throbbed a million times faster than usual. He pinned me to the wall and went on eating up the gap between us. Slowly the gap went on diminishing leaving just an inch difference between our lips, his breath beating against my skin and my body froze at that state.
Blood raced in my veins and heart popped out of my ribcage. Slowly, he held up a hand and placed it on my right cheek, then his fingers travelled to the back of my skull providing it support, leaving the thumb on my right cheek. Finally, the gap vanished as his lips found mine. Electricity flowed through my body and endorphins rushed in my veins, my high adrenaline had already shut the outer world and I was in heaven. I could get a hint of cologne, his own smell mixed with that of the expensive perfume and strong cologne was somewhat sexy to me.
His minty taste hit my mouth and with that velvety touch and fierceness of his lips, I was in bliss. I wondered how perfectly his lips worked against mine. Finally, our lips parted leaving us gazing into each other's eyes. I closed my eyes as he planted small feathery kisses against the edge of my chin and a last and final one on my bare shoulder.
Wait...what! Did we kiss?
Just now! Really...
Was I dreaming !?
I kinda freaked out as I realized the moment, I opened my eyes to look directly into those icy blue stare and yeah.
We. Kissed.
Wait..wait...does that means we are officially a couple? Are we dating?
Stop thinking All this Blaire. Remember you are drunk and so is he.
I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Okay let's see who wins," Sophia chirped.
"Not you, Blaire," Christian warned.
"Oh! come on, man she's not a kid we all are of the same age so stop acting like her big bro Chris," Duncan defended.
The sextet sat in a semi-circle. At ten shots in my points table, I was probably the fifth runner up, my vision already blurred out. I could still feel the burning essence of vodka sliding down my throat.
God knows what else I had intake and wondered how everyone would still manage after a lot more shots than mine. I could barely realize the outer world and passed out on someone who's beside me, without any prior notice.

Sunlight poured in through the large windows, waking me up. I woke up to find a pair of blue eyes staring at me. One of those deep stares. Some kind of emotion played in his eyes but I couldn't make it out.
Care?
Adoration?
Whatever! I couldn't object it out properly.
A pain immediately shot up. I couldn't remember what happened last night after.....after I went on drinking.
"Good morning sunshine," he said in a soft whisper.
My head throbbed like hell.
Oh! God, this hangover is a bitch!
I went on cursing without uttering a single word.
"Good morning," I wished back and he handed me an aspirin and a glass of water to me.
I gulped it down and immediately he smacked a kiss on my cheek.
"I....," He started to say and then trailed off.
"Nothing....leave it...., " He avoided when a piece of loud music pierced the air as his phone began to ring.
