Chapter Three
As soon as my parents took their leave with a couple more pieces of advice and a list of do's and don'ts, I finally had my full attention to the girl beside me. I was still processing that the angel-looking girl could be involved in such a naughty business or, in my mom's words- such indecency. But who am I to judge when I had some of mine, which wasn't so decent themselves.
"Your parents are nice," the girl broke the silence of the room, pulling me out of my contemplating thoughts. "Thanks," I replied. The fact that I saw Leah with the handsome guy in a very intimate moment a few hours ago and the possibility that they both might be in a romantic relationship stopped me from discussing it with her. "Yeah, they are a handful sometimes."
"Don't worry. You didn't miss much in a week. I can help you with the notes." She said while typing something on her mobile. Maybe she was talking to that handsome guy. I needed to write everything down in my journal before the thoughts got ruined. "And we could be best friends. It feels lonely without having a best friend," she continued settling herself on the bed. We both were on our respective sides. I wished to remain like that for the rest of the year if she wasn't that sweet. Though I could smell trouble in her vicinity, or was it the imagery of her with a particular curly-haired guy with the craziest aura.
"Yes, we could be friends. I'm new, so it would be nice to have a friend. Thank you so much! I could use the notes." I wanted the notes. I could use some help from her. After all, I was the late joiner here. She looked very much involved in whatever conversation she was having on her phone. I hoped she wasn't the sexting type because that would be weird with that good girl vibe. 'Looks could be deceiving,' I thought.
I quickly involved myself in unpacking my backpack. I arranged my journals, books, and my vintage typewriter on the desk. My plans for the coming days were, going to the classes on time (which was still a work in practice), getting books for the semester from the library, and assigning the rest of the time to write my next novel.
I changed into my PJs and sat comfortably on my bed with the typewriter in front of me. I took a side look at Leah, who was now blushing on the phone screen, and my thoughts went back to the isolated field between the two dorms. The images of a handsome-looking devil ran wildly in my mind as I started typing the beginning of his mystery.
He had no idea. For the next couple of months, he was going to play a part in my words.
