˚✧˳ Chapter 19 - Grocery & Rain ˳✧˚
❝ That looks more of a junk food frenzy in your cart— ❞

(Y/N) (L/N)
WE ARRIVED AT MY BRAND NEW HOME IN QUEENS. It's across the building that Peter lives in. Furniture and other things that made me and Happy looked like a father and a daughter in our home were displayed such as photographs and memorials.
Peter is fully aware of who Happy was, so most photographs of a young daughter and a father were from strangers. Who knows where Stark got them.
"Okay, we have few rules so listen up." Happy announces as he places down the last luggage on the floor.
"Number one, my room is the biggest one; Two, no pranks; Three, no singing in the shower; Four, don't touch anything and especially don't destroy any furniture. Got that?"
"Yep. Except for the third rule and mine's the biggest room." I yelled as I ran towards the largest bedroom while Happy tried to stop me. He failed.
I'm here so I don't have to get 5 in the morning for school and not for Peter. I still hate the guy.
I went back into the living room after slumping all my stuff everywhere in the room.
Happy was lying there all tired and exhausted. I feel bad. Maybe if I buy our dinner for today, he'll cheer up a bit. Going to the grocery down here won't hurt, I guess?
˚✧˳✧˚✧˳✧˚✧ 🕷 ✧˚✧˳✧˚✧˳✧˚
"Okay, so you get a cart like everybody else and then get what you want then pay to the cashier," I muttered to myself as I entered the grocery store with a puzzled look.
What I'm going to say next is the most unbelievable line to come across in this book, but this is the first time I went inside a grocery store.
Like, holy shit, look at all the things that I could grab without Tony ever being strict with my diet.
Of course, I went in the Nutella section and grabbed 9; Managed to go into the ramen aisle to grab some spicy ones; Chips that are MSG merciless; And of course, a whole gallon of Coke.
Yes, I was never allowed to drink soft drinks.
Nobody can get in my way now! I'm really happy right now!
"(Y/N)?"
Oh, he just has to come in the middle of my victory dance.
"What are you doing?" Peter questioned with the same smile that he'd always greet with when I'm around. He was laughing a bit at my weird doing.
"The hell are you doing here, Parker?" I asked in a threatening manner as I hid the drinks onto my elbows.
"What do you mean 'what am I doing?' I live here... What are you doing here?"
"Ugh. Grocery shopping duh." I answered sarcastically as I took my cart and proceeded to walk ignoring him.
"That looks more of a junk food frenzy in your cart—H-Hey wait, where are you going?" Peter grabbed my shoulder in an attempt to stop me.
"Go get some bleach so I'll drink it and die." I sarcastically replied as he blocked my direction.
I noticed that most of what he had on his arms were recipes; Vegetable oils, dumpling wraps, and garlic sauce.
"What's that you're holding?" I pointed.
"Uh... Aunt May is going to make dumplings for dinner. She asked me to fetch some ingredients... Listen, about the robbery last night—"
"Camille?"
I turned to the other way wherein a frame of Aunt May appears to the scene.
"Her name is (Y/N), May. I've told you about that already..." Peter whispered to her while Aunt May taps her head, scolding her rudeness.
"Oh yes, (Y/N) dear. So, I guess you were the new neighbors that Marjorie was talking about!" She cheerfully said, clasping her hands excitedly.
"Neighbors?" Peter muttered. He was not aware of the news since I haven't told him.
"Y-Yeah, 6th floor in the other building." I nodded, sucking my lip in.
"Well, since you're here... Wouldn't it be nice if you could come tonight for dinner? I'm making my special Chinese Dumplings!" She said as she showed me the dumpling wraps.
Holy shit, a free dinner with the Parker family. How could I turn that down?
"Heck yeah! I mean—Wait, I could..? Would it be alright for Peter?" I asked. Peter looked troubled by it. He was nervous about me coming into their house. May immediately noticed the odd behavior and lightly tapped his arm.
"Of course! You want her to eat dinner with us, RIGHT Peter?" Aunt May eyed Peter to make sure he would agree with the invitation of me coming along their home.
"U-Uh... Y-Yeah, of course! That would be great." He giggles awkwardly, not leaving his eyes off mine. He was probably too surprised to gather his thoughts.
"Alright! Now everything is settled. Peter WILL help you carry your groceries back to your home, and maybe you could also invite your parents to join as well? Sounds likes a plan? It's a plan! Off you go!" Aunt May didn't give Peter a chance to answer her orders as she pushed him towards me, making him stumble a few steps.
"You're alright on your own, Aunt May?" I questioned once I saw her almost dropping her spices.
"Yes, of course! It's just a few things, you guys carry on with your grocery date." And finally, she walks off all proud.
"Uhm... So... Have you tried wasabi candy yet?"
"No, but I want one."
˚✧˳✧˚
"What else did Aunt May need?" I turned to Peter, who volunteered to push my cart. He had a list of all materials required to accomplish our meal for the night.
"Yeah, I think that's all." Peter settled after skimming to the list.
Finally, we went to the cashier. Since I didn't have any physical money, I decided to withdraw while Peter waited for me in the corner.
'BALANCE:
$ 145,000'
I had no idea that I have this much money. Did Stark think I was that stupid to not use my card? I'm gonna make his pockets hurt.
Even though this amount of money is worth a penny to him.
I ripped up the paper and inserted it in my pockets. Things that revealed I was Stark's daughter are forbidden to be shown into the world.
˚✧˳✧˚
Great. The rain really just had to ruin our phase. It's either Happy is worried or he went to Stark's tower already.
As we were about to head to my apartment's direction, the weather suddenly changed as if God hated me today and showered the sky with disappointment and coldness.
"Heard there was a storm in the news," Peter mentioned.
We waited in the corner of the store where there was enough covering for us to not be wet in the rain. It looked like it wasn't gonna end soon, so we're probably gonna wait here for another hour or so.
"Can't you text Aunt May?"
"My phone died."
"I left mine in my apartment." I sighed. Great, now we're left here listening to the small splashes.
"Hey... Um, about the robbers last night, what did you want to tell me?" I brought up.
"Y-Yeah, they had weird weaponry. Not like anything I've seen before, I told Happy about it, but he always disregards everything I say."
'Well, maybe if you didn't text, every second of what you're doing it would be better.'
˚✧˳✧˚
"Alright. I can't wait anymore. Let's just run." (Y/N) stood up from the moist concrete floor she was sitting on. She was rather an impatient girl, like her father.
"Run? But we'll be drenched?" Peter grabs their grocery bags preparing himself nonetheless. He didn't mind running in the rain in the first place. He just worried about the girl getting a cold.
"Who cares? It's just a few blocks away." She shrugged as she grabbed the other plastic.
"Okay... Let's go!" She yelled as she sprints her way into the street, exposing herself to the rain. Peter was keeping up with her pace. He was scared that she might slip so but at least he would be there to catch her.
Droplets of water tapped their clothes harshly as they continued their way. And as always people of New York loved to give stares at people who seem to be having the time of their life. Peter didn't even notice the citizens looking at them, he was too focused on the (H/C) colored hair that danced into the gushing wind.
There was just something romantic about the smell of rain. How the downpour and overall atmosphere of it could make anyone satisfied.
(Y/N) looked back to the boy who was quiet their entire marathon. And then she smiled and joked how silent he was when they started running.
"Oh, jeez, Peter, now's not the good time to daydream!" (Y/N) remarked as she suddenly pulled his arm with her free hand.
In the middle of the storm, they waltzed their way back to her home. Peter thought she was beautiful.
Even under that contemptuous attitude, she was a sweet and fragile girl who loves to have fun despite having duties too mature for her age.
He wanted to get to know more of her. He wanted to know what she does when she has free time; He wanted to know what her favorite food is, favorite show, and favorite book; He wanted to know everything about her.
"Come on, quick!" She rushed as she opened the entrance door.
Both of them entered, drenched in rain and gasping for air.
(Y/N)'s face was wet as some water dripped on the floor, the light surrounding them perfectly glazed both of their skin. The spark in her eyes never seems to leave.
A few seconds of them just staring made the girl suddenly snicker, which soon turned into a joyful laugh. Peter didn't know why but he laughed along with her as both of them were shivering to the coldness rain has brought for them.
"That was intense." The girl commented while she continued to be in her enthusiastic state.
Both of their clothes were soaked as some of the fabric started sticking on their skin and undergarments. She looked heavenly.
And at that moment he realized his favorite color in the entire universe was the color of her eyes.
˚✧˳✧˚✧˳✧˚✧ 🕷 ✧˚✧˳✧˚✧˳✧˚
Fun Fact: Peter unintentionally bites her lip when he found himself staring at (Y/N) and Ned would often notice it.
A/N: mAn i love rain, yeah i have plain black eyes uGh
QOTD: What are some unintentional things that gave you butterflies in your stomach?
