Alpha

" How did this happen..?" I muttered while I sat on the roof. I curled my scaled tail beside me. Everyone else was asleep or maybe on a nightly patrol right now. Usually there would be guards walking in the forest around the house. I thought back to what happened during the battle.

'.. She willingly threw herself into the fight.. even if it meant facing a horde of enemies head on..' I thought. The way she would gracefully leap into the fray, stunting all enemies around her with a flash of light. Then straight up ram into the possibile leader of the group and not giving a care that she got injured in the process.. ' She seems like Moonfang..'

" So loyal..." I mused softly, before a whimper reached my ears. I stood up.

' what was that?' I thought as i leaped down, extending my wings as I glided through an open window. The whimpering came from Christy's room. I cautiously walked towards the door, stopping at it.

" Christy.?" I spoke quietly, knocking, " You alright?" I heard a thump as I tensed, " Christy?" I called out again as I tried to open the door, finding it locked. I narrowed my eye as fair droplets of water formed around me as they gathered in the key hole. They formed the shape of the key and unlocked the door as I shoved it open. " Christy?" My dark blueish grey eyes widened as I saw the girl on the the floor, laying there, curled up. He fox tail curled tightly around her form as her wings completely enveloped her.

"... n-no.. please.." her wings shifted almost in a feeble attempt to block her body. I cautiously walked over, taking notice of the flames that were forming.

'.. better be careful.. wouldn't want to get in the way of those flames..' I thought as I picked my way over to Christy.

Christy

" N-no! Stop!" I yelled at the shadowy figures that approached. " S-stay away!" I backed away, glancing behind me only to find more of them.. " No! Stay away!" white flames flickered around me as I backed away form the groups.

" Honestly? What is this?!" Artemis hissed, her voice echoed in the dark scenery. " Blast them!" the flames flickered as they started setting some of the shadows on fire. I lashed my tail, almost to intimidate as my wings unfurled slightly. I tripped over myself, landing with a thump.

"... ussselesss.." a voice seemed to come from the shadows as they reached out for me, clawing at my skin and clothes as I backed away. "... sso usselesss.." I blinked back tears as I felt someone lash out, a wave of water doused the shadows.

" CHRISTY!" I snapped my eyes open with a yelp and drenched in cold sweat.

"..." I looked around. The shadows in the room told me it was still night time and I was somehow on the floor..  and IN SOMEONE'S ARMS?! I jumped back, or tried to.." Christy! It's me calm down!" a familiar voice spoke quickly as the arms tightened around me.

" ... A-Alpha..?" I mumbled nervously as I remained tense. It sounded like him, sure... But I just wanted to be sure..

".. What's wrong..?" he asked softly, with the same tone he used earlier.. As if he was talking to a wind animal..   ".. Is something bothering you...?" I couldn't burden him with my problems.. That would only create more trouble.

".. N-no.." I whispered quietly as I forced myself to relax, curling up. My wings shifted slightly.. They must have appeared in my sleep.. I felt a scaled tail curl over my own as it tucked my tail against my legs.

".. You sure?.. It's fine if you don't tell me.. I just want the members of my Pack to fell safe.." Alpha spoke softly as he kept his arms around me.

'... Isn't this a little too close for comfort..?' I thought as I realized how close he was. '.. and he's hugging me..?' my tail twitched nervously.

".. Sorry.. I shouldn't have done that.." I felt Alpha pull away from me, sitting back. I slowly uncurled myself, wings shifting back.

".. I-it's alright.." I responded, barely audible, ".. I-I'm just not used to...b-being um.."

".. No.. it's my fault.." Alpha cut me off, ".. I shouldn't have don't that in the first place.." his dragon tail swayed behind him, reflecting off the moonlight that shone into the room.

".. I-it's fine..." I whispered softly as I yawned slightly.

".. You should get some sleep.." Alpha spoke calmly as he walked over, attempting to guide me over to the bed. His ta curled behind him, swinging forward.

".. no..." I mumbled softly as he picked my up, his tail curling around mine, keeping it off the ground. He walked a small distance away before setting me down on something soft.

" You're tired. Now sleep." I shook my head, my eyes half closing. I yawned again as I felt around for the pillow, curling up around it as I drifted off. Maybe I was tired... I curled my tail over the pillow as I rested my head against my tail.

I watched Christy as she swayed slightly, her eyes closing. I gave a faint smile as I turned to leave.m, only to feel something tug back at my tail. I glanced back at Christy who was curled up around something, her head rested against her tail.
