Kitsune..
" Unstable.. we need to stabilize.." I heard voices and felt something soft under me. I attempted to move, in the mist what seemed like a heat wave.
" Temperature's on on the rise.. Must.." I felt the voices fade out slightly before fading back in.
" Go get Winter.. We can't let it rise any more.." I heard faint steps walking away as something cold and wet was pressed against my forehead. I heard the sound of hissing as the thing grew warm.
' What's happening..?' I thought.
' Trust me.. It's for the best..' a voice answered softly, ' It's the most effective way to deal with the poison..'
' Poison..?'
' Yes.. just relax, you'll be fine. Let me deal with this..' the voice spoke, almost purring in a comforting manner.
' How..?' I thought, skeptical.
' Trust me, Darling.. you'll be fine..' the voice purred as the world started to fade away, the conversations and scents. ' I'll make sure nothing bad happens..'
Night
" She's burning up.." I heard one of the healers mutter, changing the cloth on her forehead. " Night.. I don't know it she'll make it like this.." the healer turned to me, eyes holding sorrow, " If the fever doesn't stop.. it'll eventually take her over.."
" Please.. do what you can.." I responded. " I'll go get Stormfall." The healer nodded as I walked out of the room.
" Stormfall?" I called out, walking outside. " You out there?"
" Hey, Vixen.." a voice spoke from one of the nearby trees. A leopard pattered tail swayed as a girl leaped down from it. " How is she?"
" Fever's still on the rise, Vienna.." I responded, dropping the name. No one else was around, so it's fine to use our normal names. " Not sure when it'll stop.."
" Is Alpha in the area?" She asked, " Maybe he'll have something that'll help.. or maybe Winter?"
" They've sent for him already." I responded sadly, " No one has psychic powers.. at the moment.. so we have to clue what's happening inside her head.. or what could be causing this."
" Hm? I think I know someone who could help." Vienna responded, walking over, " She's out in the garden." I followed close behind her as she made her way to the garden. " Jewel." she called out as she walked into the garden.
" S-Stormfall..?" a soft voice spoke before a young girl, no older than 11, stood up from one of the benches. She walked towards us. Her crystal blue eyes shimmered in the moonlight, almost in a glazed over manner but yet at the same time, they seemed full of a fiery light.
" Hey, Jewel." Vienna greeted, smiling as Jewel walked over. " My sister needs your help with something, if you don't mind."
" Y-your sister..?" Jewel blinked, tensing slightly.
" No worries, she won't hurt you.." Vienna soothed her, " We've got a strange patient in the infirmary, if you want to help." Vienna put her arm around Jewel's shoulder. " What do you say?"
" S-sure.." Jewel gave a faint smile as Vienna started leading her into the house. I followed close behind.
" WATCH OUT!" as we approached the infirmary a loud shriek tore through the area, followed by a flash of bright light.
" What the.." Vienna narrowed her eyes, an amber color forming in them as a sandy brown and golden scorpion whipped out behind her and arching over her head.
" W-what's happening..?" Jewel whimpered as Vienna pushed her behind her back. I stepped forward, the shadows around me started to cling sway and curl around my waist and down.
" it's alright, Jewel.. it's probably some rogue who's gotten in, Night.. Could you go and check?" Vienna glanced at me as she started to lead Jewel away.
" Sure." I responded before backing into the shadows. The shadows rippled slightly as I walked forward, appearing inside of the infirmary. My eyes widened as I flinched back. A body slammed against the floor a few inches away from where I was standing.
' Relax, they can't see you..' I thought, trying to calm myself. ' You won't be hurt..' I heard soft and almost childish giggle come from a figure that stood in the middle of the room. Large white ears, standing out from midnight black hair. A white and silver tail swayed, the silver tip brushing against the ground as it delicately swayed. White wings with a few silvery feathers trailed down to the ground, brushing against it slightly. She looked around, her dark golden amber eyes glowed as she surveyed her surroundings. Her eyes landed on the doorway as someone stepped in.
" Um.. hello? I was called here to help wi-" the boy stopped abruptly as he saw the mess. He made eyes contact with the girl and almost immediately looked away.
" Oh no.." I muttered, " WInter.. get away from here.."
" Hey.." the girl greeted, flashing a smile, " I'm feeling fine now.. so.. you don't need to be here."
".. No wonder they couldn't cure your fever.." Winter whispered, tugging the hood of his jacket up. A large, leather bound book rested in his right arm. " You're part Kitsune.."
" My.. I see someone knows their mythology." the girl gave a smile. Her fluffy tail waved as she walked towards Winter, her wings trailed gracefully, shimmering in the moonlight. Pierre tightened his grip on the worn book in his hands.
" Where's Christina?" He asked, his hood hiding his eyes from seeing the Kitsune in front of him.
" That's who you're speaking to." Christy responded, the smile still on her face.
" No.." Winter spoke calmly, as he looked up. The hood fell down as a dark purple and green circle formed around Christy, rune like writing and symbols appeared around the circle. " You're not her." his eyes shimmered with certainty and confidence as he looked at Christy.
" I see.. you know who I am then?" Christy asked, her smile forming into a sly and foxy smirk.
" I may not know .." Winter responded, his hazel eyes reflected the shimmering circle on the ground, shimmering with a dark purple and green hue as he held out his hand." But.. that doesn't matter right now. Give her back." His hand lit up with midnight blue as he spoke something in a foreign language. Artemis, or that girl shrank back, wincing slightly.
" Why should I?" She hissed, " She agreed to let me take control!"
" You tricked her.. that's why.." he growled, his hazel eyes flickered.
" You don't know what you're doing to her are you?" The girl gave a soft laugh. Her golden amber eyes flickered.
" So be it.." Winter gritted his teeth as he walked towards her. He whispered something in a foreign language once more. The circle shimmered faintly, the purple lines stretching inwards, locking the girl in place. " Let her back.."
" Why should I!" she hissed. " She's we.." she trailed off as he came near, her legs giving out as she fell to the ground. " W-weak.." she manage to hiss before she fell onto her side. I watched as the circle fade away, dispersing in a shimmer of dark green and purple. Winter's hand stopped glowing as it dropped to his side.
" Winter.." I stepped out of the shadows, feeling it coil off me like a cloak.
" Night.." the dragon winged male stood up, his hazel eyes watched as I walked over. " You were watching?" he asked, his gaze looked away.
" Eh.. Yeah.." I nodded, glancing at Artie.
" Don't worry, it's not lethal to her." he assured me, " It's just a sleep poison." I nodded as I carefully picked up Christy, setting her on the bed again.
" Who was that, Christy?" I whispered softly, " Are you in some sort of danger..?" I walked over to WInter, giving a faint smile as I sat down near Christy's bed. Winter sat down nearby as well, opening the book he had. He took out a feathered pen and started to write.
' Now.. we wait..'
