CHAPTER NINETEEN: I Just Wanted to See Your Face
"It's okay Hayabusa, I'm feeling fine," Hanako tried countless times to convince her guardian that she was feeling good after her feverish symptoms faded.
"DON'T JUST ASSUME THAT EVERYTHING IS OKAY!" Hayabusa yelled but Hanako looked away from him, focusing on the window. They were in Hanako's apartment, just waiting. The Hokage requested all Shinobi with tutoring Genin teams to remain in the village for the Chuunin Exams, so they were technically free. The test would begin in just a few days and there were already some Genin from other villages walking around. "Are you listening to me?"
Hanako's eyes moved to her bird. "Not really."
Hayabusa sighed. "If it weren't for Kakashi you would have probably died of hypothermia. You were totally out." Hanako rolled her eyes.
"Aren't we over this already, seriously Hayabusa you're not my parent to worry that much," the falcon pinched her hand and the brunette flinched. "Was that really necessary?" She glared at the bird.
"You should care for yourself a little more. You don't think about risks, you don't care if you die!" Hanako frowned. "Stop being so selfish, Uchiha Hanako!" Hayabusa said loudly. "Think about how we would feel if you die, think what would happen to all the things you haven't done. Who will care about it?" Hanako pressed her lips into a thin line. "Stop chasing death."
Hanako looked at the ground, "I'm starting to think that's death the one following me and not the other way around..."
"Then try harder to avoid it," Hayabusa stated firmly. Hanako looked at him and smiled softly.
"All right," she muttered. There were still a lot of things she had left to do. Hayabusa was right on something, she couldn't die. Not yet, anyways. "So, Kakashi took care of me when I was sick..." she looked back at the window.
"He worries about you," Hayabusa sighed. "Maybe a little too much." He added the last part looking intently at the Uchiha, but she was unfazed. "I think he likes you," he blurted. Hanako looked at him.
"'Who? Kakashi?" she asked. Hayabusa was exasperated.
"Yes, can you stop spacing out? It's annoying." Hanako looked back at the window.
"Well, he's a good guy, I like him too," she replied. The bird flew to rest on Hanako's shoulder.
"I'm talking about love." Hanako clenched her hands into fists. "I think he's better for you, better than Itachi--" Hanako stood up abruptly and walked to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and pulled out a bunch of ingredients, placing them over the counter beside her. "Hanako?"
"This much talking just made me hungry," she said without looking at him. She continued to prepare her food silently.
"You have to make a choice," Hanako started to cut a few carrots into slices. "You have to make clear your feelings--" Hanako cut the carrot too close to her finger, and started to bleed slightly.
"Ow..." she brought the finger into her mouth to lick off the blood, as soon as she pulled away she was already healed. "I don't know what to do..." she admitted, letting go of the knife and turning to look at Hayabusa. "I don't know how I should feel, about either of them. I hadn't seen Itachi in five years, and I don't know when I'll see him again. I don't know if I can be with someone I don't ever see. I love him yes, and kissing him felt just like the first time." Hanako returned to her cooking. "About Kakashi, it's...different. He's older than me, and he seems to already know what I want. It's like he could read my mind. He lets me do what I want, he trusts me." Hanako stopped what she was doing. "Itachi didn't. He was overprotective, he never thought I was strong enough to do something, he preferred to do everything on his own. He hid things from me, he lied to me." Hanako could feel tears flowing down her cheeks. "But I just...I can't be angry with him. Love doesn't let me."
Hayabusa stood on the counter. "Give Kakashi a chance to heal your heart," he said. Hanako looked at him in surprise. "Maybe that's what you need, to let go of Itachi for a while. Maybe he had a reason for what he did, everything has a reason. Know the options, before you make a choice." Hanako took a deep breath. "If it makes you feel better, I think Itachi's reason for doing what he did was to protect you. Not telling you about his mission, not telling you the truth about all the pressures he had to endure... it was all because he didn't want to lose you." Hanako smiled at that.
"Maybe..."
"Anyhow, let's light up the mood a bit, shall we?" Hanako looked at Hayabusa curiously. "Do you know why Kakashi wears a mask?" Hanako smiled at the thought. She knew Hayabusa only tried to come up with something to distract her mind, that's normally what he would do.
She shrugged. "Dunno, he's wore a mask since I know him." She had prepared a salad, with lettuce, carrot, tomato and mushrooms. "Maybe so he can read porn in public without people noticing all the blood coming from his nose." Hayabusa burst into laughter. "That's not my theory though, that's what people say."
"Maybe there's something in his face he wants to hide," the falcon suggested.
"Perhaps..." Hanako sat on the kitchen table to eat her freshly made salad. "I can make him take his mask off?"
"How?" Hanako only smirked at him, making plans in her mind.
* * *
The following days passed quickly and the Chuunin Exams finally began. Hanako walked slowly towards the Jounin apartment building; when she approached the main entrance, she could hear Gai's loud voice as he laughed loudly.
"I see you're having a good time," she commented, walking further into the living room where all the Jounin tutors were sitting on the couches. Hanako spotted Kakashi, and her eyes immediately focused on the empty place beside him. She smiled deviously, walking towards him. She let herself fall into the couch, right next to the silver haired Jounin.
"The first test is over," Kakashi commented.
"Is it?" Hanako looked at him with both her eyebrows raised. "That was quick. How did it go?"
"Well, it looks like all our nine rookies passed the first test," Asuma commented with a chuckle. "That guy, Ibiki, must have gone easy on them..."
The Uchiha scoffed as her lips tilted up into a smirk. "Hey, such confidence you have on your kids, Asuma-san." She raised an eyebrow.
"Well, I must admit that when I heard that Ibiki was going to be the first proctor, I believed they wouldn't make it."
"Certainly..." Kakashi nodded. Hanako looked at him and frowned.
"Hey... I made it... Ibiki was also the proctor of the first test when I participated in the Chuunin exams," the girl crossed her arms in front of her chest, "and here I am."
"Well, you're a different case, Hanako." The silver haired man looked at her with a smirk hidden underneath his mask. "You have a 'strong and unbreakable' will, I'm certain not even Ibiki's words would affect you in any way," he mocked.
"But these kids," Asuma continued, "still don't have half the experience you do, so with the correct words, Ibiki could certainly convince them to leave the exam."
"If I recall correctly," Kakashi added. "You already had a three-year experience when you took the test. These Genin are rookies, with months of experience."
"If they stayed they must really have a strong resolve, then," Kurenai commented with a smirk.
Kakashi chuckled. "That or they're really stupid."
Hanako scoffed again and turned her head away from them. "I agree with Kurenai-san."
Asuma laughed. "Well, put that aside. Our students are moving to the next stage, we have to celebrate!" The rest of the Jounin looked at him expectantly. "Let's go to the bar tonight. We haven't gone out together since we all became Jounin."
"I pass." Kakashi was the first to reply, less than a second later.
"Me too. I don't drink anyway," Hanako said, standing up.
"Oh, come on." Asuma frowned. "Gai, say something."
They all looked at the remaining Jounin as he sat on the couch with a pondering face. "I'm surprised he managed to stay silent all this time..." Kurenai muttered, loud enough for only Kakashi, Asuma and Hanako to hear her. The Uchiha nodded in agreement.
"Certainly..." Gai started saying slowly, before he opened his eyes widely to look at them. "YOU TWO ARE A SHAME FOR THE SPIRIT OF YOUTH!" The Uchiha looked at him incredulously. "HOW CAN YOU DENY THE PLEASURES OF LIFE WHEN THEY'RE SO KINDLY GIVEN TO YOU?! COME ON! BE YOUTHFUL AND COME WITH US!"
"Okay, Gai, that's enough..." Asuma sighed.
"Well..." The brunette could feel a bead of sweat forming on her forehead. "If you put it that way..."
"YES!" Hanako's eyes widened when suddenly Gai ran up to her and hugged her tightly, lifting her up in his arms. "I knew there was a flame of youth burning in your soul!"
"Hey!"
"Gai, put her down, would you?" Kakashi muttered tiredly in their direction.
"Kakashi!" Gai flipped Hanako over his shoulder as he pointed at Kakashi with his finger. "We're only missing you."
"Hey, put me down you freak! I'm not a fucking potato sac, you know?!" The Uchiha snapped with gritted teeth.
"So, what do you say, Kakashi? Are you joining us?" Gai interjected, ignoring her completely.
"If you don't put me down, I'm not going either!"
"Fine," the silver haired Jounin sighed. "I'll come with you."
"YES!" Gai fisted the air with both hands, letting go of his hold on Hanako. She fell forward, landing face first on the ground. When he heard her, the Jounin gasped —turning in her direction. "Hanako! I'm so sorry!"
"Don't you dare come near me again..." she mumbled painfully, glaring at Gai from over her shoulder when he tried to help her.
"I can't believe you're really Jounin..." Asuma muttered tiredly while Kurenai and Kakashi agreed with a nod.
* * *
"Where are you taking me?" Hanako asked Kakashi while she followed him down the road.
"Well, if you want to come with us tonight, you'll need an ID or else you won't be able to enter the bar."
The Uchiha narrowed her eyes at him. "Why do we have to go through this trouble? I can easily fool the guard with a Genjutsu and just go inside."
"You might be able to fool the guard, but you can't fool the other Jounin guards," the silver haired Jounin replied.
"Of course, drunk people are most likely to cause trouble..." she sighed. "I'm eighteen, Kakashi, I can go inside."
"Precisely..." he said, "But you need plastic that proves it." They stopped right in front of a small local. "Here we are."
"This is...?" Hanako raised an eyebrow as she entered the place. It looked like an antique store full of collectible weapons and other relics.
"Here works and old friend of my father. He used to work with the higher-ups in the management of the ninja registry, so he can get you an ID in five minutes," he explained.
"That's cool, but," Hanako looked at Kakashi with a raised eyebrow. "You really think he will help us?" the girl neared him just enough to mumble right next to his ear. "I'm still labelled a criminal."
"Well, you're a Jounin with an official ninja registry. That's more than enough to give you an ID." Kakashi shrugged. "In any case, my father helped him a lot in the past. I'm sure he can make us this favor."
"Oh! Kakashi! It's nice to see you around here!" They looked over to the man that suddenly appeared behind the counter.
"Good afternoon, Enya-san." Kakashi smiled at him from under his mask.
"What can I do for you?"
"Well, you see—" Kakashi started speaking but he was suddenly interrupted by the man when he noticed the girl beside him.
"Oh! But who is this beautiful young woman?" He smiled at her as he came out from behind the counter to greet them. "Masaka... This can't be your new girlfriend, can she? She's way too beautiful for you, Kakashi." The man looked at the silver haired man with a raised eyebrow as he took Hanako's hand. The Uchiha chuckled slightly when she noticed that Kakashi had widened his eye and there was a faint pink color tainting the upper part of his visible cheek.
"Uh...no...I..." Hanako chuckled, interrupting the other Jounin.
"Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you, Enya-san." She bowed at him respectfully.
"Oh! Such a respectful woman!" He let go of the brunette's hand as he smiled wider at her. "You better take care of her, Kakashi. These days it's hard to find a strong and respectable Kunoichi like herself. Please, be my guests and come in!" He motioned for them to follow him inside.
"Arigatou, Enya-san." Hanako bowed again. He chuckled lightly before he rushed to the back of the local. The girl was about to follow him when she suddenly felt a hand over her shoulder. Hanako looked back at Kakashi with a raised eyebrow. "What is it?"
"Why did you say you were my girlfriend?" Hanako rolled her eyes while letting out a sigh.
"Don't worry, you don't have to take it personally," she smirked. "I just thought that he would attend us faster if he thought I was your girlfriend, so," Hanako looked at him with her head tilted sideways and pleading eyes. "Would you keep up the act until we're out of here?"
Kakashi looked at her in silence for a whole minute before he sighed. "All right..."
Hanako smiled and took his hand, dragging him with her inside. When they crossed the door, the brunette was surprised to find an old-fashioned looking room, with futons around a small coffee table and an improvised kitchen on the back. Enya was there, making some tea for them. When he looked up, he smiled. "I hope you like green tea, that's the only one I have."
"There's no problem." Hanako smiled back before taking her sandals off to enter the room. Kakashi mimicked her without letting go of her hand, he even helped her take off one sandal that got stuck and she couldn't —for some strange reason— pull off. The Uchiha looked down at him, dumbfounded, as she watched him carefully untie the sandal and pull it off. When he looked up back at her, she gasped and looked away. "Thanks for that..."
Kakashi chuckled before standing back up and intertwining her fingers with his. He then moved his head closer to hers as if wanting to say something to her ear. "It's all right, honey, I'm here to help you."
Hanako could feel all the colors rise into her face and she turned to him with a frown. Kakashi had already moved away and walked inside, bringing her with him to sit down in the futons beside the table.
"Oh! You guys are so adorable!" Enya commented while he placed two cups of hot green tea in front of them.
Hanako smiled at him softly before she looked down at her reflection on the tea. She couldn't help but to think about Itachi in that situation. He always loved to go to different cafés to drink tea and eat dango. Hanako pressed her lips into a thin line as she tried to bite back her tears. She still missed him. 'Itachi, where are you now?'
"Are you all right?" Hanako was pulled out from her thoughts when Kakashi suddenly spoke.
"Uh..." She shook away all the memories from her head before she looked at him with a smile. "Yeah, I'm perfectly fine, honey."
Hanako knew he didn't buy it, but even Kakashi knew when not to push on things. When Enya came back, she just took advantage of the act they were pulling and rested her head on Kakashi's shoulder. She wanted to know where Itachi was, she wanted to know how he was doing but, most of all, she wanted to see him again.
"So, Kakashi, what is the favor you needed from me?" Hanako looked at the man as he carefully sipped his hot tea.
"I need an ID." Enya frowned slightly at Kakashi's request.
"Another one? I think I made you the last one a couple of years ago."
"Oh, not for me." Kakashi then rested his head over the girl's. "For her."
Enya widened his eyes in recognition before his look turned into a mischievous one. "Oh, I understand... Tell me Miss, what is your current rank?"
"Jounin," Hanako quickly replied, lifting her head from Kakashi's shoulder.
"Hm..." Enya nodded. "So," he stood up from the futon and looked for a book among his things. "Would you mind telling me your ninja registration number?"
"012109."
He looked in his book for the number and his grin vanished from his face when he read the page. He then turned to look at Hanako incredulously. "Uchiha Hanako?"
Hanako didn't know how to react to the way the man changed his behavior upon knowing who she really was. She guessed it was to be expected, it would take a while before the villagers acknowledged her existence.
"Are you aware that you're labelled in the Bingo Book as an S-rank criminal?"
Hanako remained expressionless. "Unfortunately, yes. I suppose that means you're not going to help us?" she asked bitterly, but after reconsidering her scarce options Hanako sighed. "Look, I know what I did and I know why I did it. The term criminal is only a denigrating title," she stopped for a moment to look at Enya, "given to me because the elders didn't share my ideals." She finished. "You can choose not to help us, Enya-san, I promise this is just regular legal procedure. I'm still working on my residence and I have the Hokage's permission to be here; yet I still need that ID to have all my documents updated, I think you understand that." Kakashi looked at Hanako with surprise in his face. He never thought Hanako to be one to play with words, her way of twisting the truth wouldn't ever be mistaken with lying.
They all remained silent. Hanako could feel all eyes on her but she just focused on the man in front of her. "I suppose you didn't come here to leave empty handed," Enya said, looking at the Uchiha girl with cold, calculating eyes. "I'll give you a fake ID, I can't risk my reputation by letting information leak that I helped a criminal, so this will be our little secret." Hanako's eyes widened slightly after Enya spoke. "I'm only doing this because I owe the Hatake family; but if it were for me, I would deport you." Her pursed her lips. "I'm not a big fan of the Uchiha Clan, but I do feel bad for their demise. They never did anything wrong for our village..." All the while, he had been working on something. Typing into a machine behind the counter. "I need your photo. Please come." Hanako nodded slightly, pulling away from Kakashi and walking towards the man. He raised the camera with the lens towards her. The brunette smiled slightly for the photo but her grin vanished immediately after the camera flashed. "This is unnerving," Enya commented. "Such a beautiful face in the mask of a criminal."
"Stop talking," Hanako looked down. "You think you know everything, but you know nothing." Enya looked at her. "You're just babbling. Trying to make me feel bad about what I've done..." she looked up at him, "but I don't, and I won't."
"Well, there's nothing that can be done." Enya muttered as he handed her the ID. "Just don't make me regret this, Masako Ayumi." Hanako continued to look at him as she took the card from his hands. He had changed her name and her ninja register. The only information that truly belonged to her was the picture.
"Don't worry, you won't have to," she smiled apologetically at him while her eyes morphed into her Mangekyou Sharingan.
* * *
Hanako and Kakashi walked across the streets in the middle of Konoha. Night had already fallen, the Uchiha just made her way through the crowds of people with the other Jounin tailing closely behind her.
"You didn't have to erase Enya-san's memories," Kakashi suddenly said.
Hanako looked at him and rolled her eyes. "Yes, I had to. If someone found out about this, he would be thrown to jail. Besides, I used a favor he owed to you, it's better if he thinks I was just a regular client with a completely different appearance. And he still owes you a favor."
"He won't get in trouble, he has the Hokage's protection," Kakashi interjected.
"Hokages are not forever," Hanako stated, pushing the bar's door open.
"Oh! Kakashi! Hanako! Over here!" Hanako looked up to see Gai waving at them after they entered the place, which was fairly calm and barely illuminated.
'Well, it's still early...' Hanako thought after seeing all the ninja sitting down and chatting happily while enjoying their drinks. The brunette and her silver haired companion scooted over to where the rest of the Jounin waited for them. They took their places, sitting beside each other.
"So," Asuma started saying. Hanako frowned slightly at his breath —it smelled of alcohol already. "How has it been for you as a Jounin, Hana-chan?" She narrowed her eyes at the name. Asuma was definitely intoxicated.
"Fine... Thanks for asking," she replied curtly while dedicating him a fake smile.
"Come on, take a shot!" He passed her a cup full of the drink and she frowned upon it.
The brunette glanced up at them. Asuma was intoxicated but out of the three Jounin, he seemed to be the most sober. Kurenai was already laughing like crazy at everything Gai said, and the latter one was already making some weird moves.
When Hanako turned back to the cup, her eyes widened to notice it was empty. She looked at Kakashi and frowned when she noticed that his mask was wrinkled at the sides.
She raised an eyebrow at him. "Kakashi...weren't you the one who said we should stay sober?"
He sighed tiredly. "I'm not drunk, Hanako."
"Yet," she hissed. "It all starts with one drink."
"Alright, alright..." Kakashi took the cup and refilled it with the clear liquid. "Here."
Hanako looked at him incredulously. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Offering you a drink?" He raised an eyebrow, looking at her as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Look, if I had a taste, it's only fair that you try it too, right? Besides," he moved closer to her. "This is your first time tasting alcohol, isn't it?"
Hanako stared at him intently before frowning deeper. "So, what if it is? That doesn't give you a reason to offer me a drink."
"You should try it." She could feel him smirk from under his mask. "You'll like it."
Hanako sighed. "Only one shot."
* * *
Sasuke opened the door to Hanako's apartment. He knew that the brunette would often leave it unlocked so he didn't even bother knocking anymore. "Sasuke?" The Uchiha looked inside to find Hayabusa just staring out the window. He would do that way too often. "What are you doing here?"
"Where's Hanako?" he blurted. Hayabusa looked back at the window.
"She's not here, she went out."
"Where to?"
"Do you think I know?" he replied fiercely, he never liked to be talked to so informally.
"Well you should, aren't you the one who looks after her?" Sasuke raised an eyebrow. He had closed the door behind him and walked to the couch.
"Maybe I just don't want to tell you," he said. Sasuke smirked.
"Fine then, I'll just wait here." The boy leaned back and closed his eyes.
Hayabusa asked again, "What are you doing here?"
"Just wanted to let Hanako know we passed the first test, the second part is tomorrow in the training grounds number 44." Sasuke got comfortable in his seat. "When will she come back anyway?"
"I have no idea."
* * *
"Jeez, it's so hot in here!" Hanako exclaimed as she tugged the hem of her shirt.
Kakashi acknowledged that he had made a mistake at offering her first drink to the girl. Now, even he couldn't make her stop drinking. After ten minutes, she was beyond intoxicated.
His eyes suddenly widened when —without prior warning— Hanako took her shirt off. "Hey, don't do that!" The Jounin took the shirt from her and tried to force it back on but the girl wouldn't comply.
"No! It's too hot in here!"
"Hanako, put your shirt back on." Kakashi hissed in low voice while he shielded her body with his from prying eyes.
"I don't wanna..." she whined, clutching her hands onto his vest. "Please, Kakashi..." she pulled him closer and hid her face into the crook of his neck.
Kakashi could feel her hot breath from under the tissue of his mask and he felt a shiver run down his spine.
"Take me somewhere else..." she muttered into his ear, and Kakashi swore that his face must have been redder than a tomato. Hanako couldn't be saying that to him. Did she even realize the hidden meaning behind those words?
Of course not, she was drunk.
He took his vest off and made her put it on before he lifted her up bridal style and carried her to his apartment. She would make her spend the night in his place since he didn't trust in leaving her alone in her home, especially in her state of inhibition, and twice if she was comfortable with leaving all her entrances unlocked.
"Kakashi..." Hanako muttered, clinging onto him as he tried to tug her into his bed. "You smell good," she commented, making him widen his eyes. Following suit, Hanako sniffed his neck before smiling against it. "Sooo good..." The girl then let herself fall against the mattress, bringing Kakashi down with her. He quickly placed both hands at each side of her figure, trying to keep his balance and make sure that his weight wouldn't crush her. Hanako opened her eyes and looked up at him with a playful smirk. "I told you we should have stayed sober," she muttered to him before she laughed.
"You are the drunk one." Kakashi frowned at her. She then smiled at him and reached her hands into hems of his mask. The silver haired Jounin widened his eyes when he noticed her intentions. But he couldn't move his hands from their positions. He didn't do anything to stop her, just let her continue until she pulled down his mask entirely to reveal his face. If she was drunk, she would forget about it in the morning anyway. Hanako's eyes widened for a moment before she smiled at him.
"I don't see why you hide your face," she commented while caressing his cheek with the palm of her hand. "You're beautiful, Kakashi." He only stared at her. She was the first person that he had let see what was under his mask, and he didn't regret his decision. Hanako then reached behind his head and untied his headband, revealing his Sharingan eye. Her fingers then went to trace the scar over his eye lid, making him close his eyes for a moment. Her index finger moved down his face, grazing his nose softly until it reached his lips and lingered there for a moment. Kakashi opened his eyes again to stare down at her. Her flushed face and her slightly parted lips were making it hard for him to control himself. And if she kept caressing him like that, he was afraid he didn't know what would happen next.
"Kakashi..." He could feel his stomach churn at the tone in her voice. "What are we doing?" He didn't know how to answer her question. Was she sobering up already? Well, he could expect that from someone who healed her wounds in seconds. Obviously, she could digest liquor faster than the average. He was about to stand up from his position when her arms wrapped around his neck. "Don't go..." He inhaled deeply after feeling her hot breath against his sensitive skin. "It's cold in here..." He sighed before he let out a soft chuckle. Yes, she was sobering up. It would be minutes before she was introduced into the bothersome throbbing of a hangover. He flexed his arms, shifting his weight onto his elbows as he leaned closer to her. Hanako rested on her back, as she released the tension from her arms and just let them hover over his shoulders. They were both staring at each other, questioning simultaneously their behavior.
Kakashi leaned closer to her, letting the tips of their noses touch each other and their breaths mingle together. He bit his lip when his eyes drifted down to her mouth. He wasn't sure if he should let himself continue or stop right there. But then again, if Hanako had wanted him to stop, she would have pushed him away a while ago. With this in mind, he pushed away all his doubt and pressed his lips onto hers. At the touch, he closed his eyes and let his instincts take control of everything. He could feel Hanako move her lips slightly as she kissed back. There was still a faint taste of sake in them, with a touch of vanilla. It was sweet, making him tilt his head to the side to deepen the kiss as he craved for more. Kakashi bit her lower lip softly, and stuck his tongue into her mouth when she allowed him entrance. He took the chance to explore every inch, from her teeth to her inner cheeks. His lips tilted up into a smirk when he found her tongue trying to fight his for dominance, but he made her understand that this was his territory and it would take her awhile before she could win over him.
After a minute, when the lack of air started to become prominent between both of them, he pulled away and opened his eyes to look down at her. He would be lying if he said he didn't like it. At the second of parting lips, he already wanted to kiss her again. Hanako smiled as she let out a soft chuckle. "Whoa...I didn't know you were such a good damn kisser, Kakashi..." she commented while tracing his lips with her finger nails.
"There's a lot of things you don't know about me," he muttered lowly into her neck, making all the small hairs on her skin to straighten up as if a gush of electricity had run through her.
"Like what?" she inquired, pressing her forehead against his as she stared into the depths of his eyes.
Kakashi was hypnotized, her iris was a pure obsidian color —he couldn't even distinguish her pupil amongst it.
He smirked. "Like the reason I wear a mask."
Her eyes sparkled with interest. "Oh...? And what's that?"
Kakashi chuckled softly before he pecked her lips. "You're drunk, sleep it off," he said to her while putting his mask back on and standing up from the bed.
"Where are you going?"
"I'll sleep on the living room. You can call me if you need anything."
After that, he turned to leave the room but Hanako made him stop when she spoke again. "Wait..." she muttered while standing up from the bed. She had some trouble in keeping her balance at first but she regained it quickly. "You stay here and I'll take the living room. This is your house, and I'd feel terrible if—"
"Hanako," Kakashi interrupted her. "It's all right. You are my guest."
The brunette sighed as she let herself fall into a sitting position over the bed and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "I think..." she mentioned, grazing the tissue of the covers with her fingers. "That this bed is big enough for both us..." She smirked when she noticed the red color in Kakashi's cheeks.
"I don't—"
"Why not?" she interrupted him with a mocking tone. "We were just fine a few moments ago..."
"Yeah...but..."
"But...?" she pressed with her grin widening.
She stood up again, finally noticing that she was wearing only half of her ninja attire. She only wore her dark blue bra on the upper part of her body and over it the green standard vest of the Konoha Shinobi uniform —open to reveal her front.
"Oh...? Where's my shirt?" After asking that question, she looked up with curious eyes at silver haired Jounin. Kakashi was pretty calm, but his eyes couldn't seem to be able to leave her figure. He was staring intently at her partially naked torso, his eyes dancing over her chest and down her plain stomach to the waist. His eyes then traced down her thin legs, covered only by a short black leggings and over it a red skirt. Hanako noticed this and looked at him playfully. 'She must still be under the influence of the alcohol' —Kakashi thought— 'or else she would have immediately covered herself up upon noticing she was being stared at.' "You know what I need, Kakashi?" She walked gracefully in his direction, the man forcing himself to look up at her eyes. She moved her head beside his, standing on her tips so she could reach him to mutter at his ear. "You to lend me a shirt." After mentioning this, she let the vest fall down her shoulders and onto the floor. Kakashi opened his mouth to respond, but his words were stuck in his throat when Hanako grabbed his shirt and pulled it up to take it off. The silver haired man wasn't sure what was happening when she suddenly put it on over her body, turned her back on him and lay —face down— over his bed.
"My head hurts..." she muttered into the pillow. "Kakashi," She lifted her head up to look at him. "Are you coming or what?"
Kakashi blinked...twice. What did just happen? He shook his head and walked over to the bed. Hanako immediately took his hand and pulled him to the spot beside her before she turned her back to him. Kakashi smiled slightly before pulling the cover over both of them. "I'm surprised how fast your body got rid of the alcohol..." he muttered into her ear.
She chuckled. "And now you decide to speak...I thought for a second that the cat's got your tongue." The brunette opened her eyes as her lips tilted up into a smirk.
"When did your drunken state rub off?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
Hanako let out a small laugh before she turned to look at him with a smirk. "You know, one of the perks of being able to heal at the second from any kind of wound is that my metabolism is way faster than the average. You know what that means, don't you?" Kakashi widened his eyes when something clicked on his mind. At that, Hanako's smirk widened. "That's right, Kakashi. I can't get drunk, at all."
"You pretended to be drunk?" Kakashi inquired.
"Mmhm," Hanako chuckled, turning away from him. "I'm a great actress, aren't I?"
"Why?" Kakashi sat up in a moment.
"I wanted to see your face," she responded simply. "Now, go to sleep. The second test starts in six hours and I have to be there since I suspect you'll be late." Kakashi sighed in resignation and turned his back to the brunette, lying down. There was a hint of a smile in his face, he still didn't regret his decision. He suspected deep inside that Hanako was pretending, but he was too caught up in the moment to listen to his hunches.
