07 - Embarrassed at a party
Chapter the Seventh
Embarrassed at a party
Amber's POV
I can't believe that today is actually the worst day of my entire life. Of the seventeen years of my uninteresting life, nothing as terrible as this has ever occurred. I mean, I've been bullied to the point I was hospitalized, broke my arm and leg on a bike, witnessed the death of both grandparents and nothing can compare to this situation.
Eva was truly one of the best things that could have happened to me and now she was gone.
I couldn't help but blame myself for this. Yesterday morning I should have given her the news on the swap. Then, the episode of what happened this afternoon wouldn't take place. She would still see me as her best friend and we would be here laughing away. I still see her as my friend and I definitely will find a way to fix this.
For the entire afternoon I haven't done anything productive with my time. Normally I would be studying or something but my mind kept on going elsewhere. I was so ducking restless, you have no idea. Earlier today I went for a cool and relaxing walk in the park. Okay, so it wasn't so cool and relaxed in the blazing heat but you get the point.
The moment I took a seat on the dead looking bench next to the pond, a pigeon had the bright idea to defecate on my jacket. Oh, and speaking of clothes; that's just a dandy subject. As we all know, I cannot match clothes to save my life. A big hair guy could hold me at banana point and I still wouldn't put a red shirt with black jeans and black and white shoes. But, the day has come where I matched my clothes.
This just shows how my heart has been shattered after such an irreplaceable loss in my life. Wow, I sound as if Eva died or something... But, that was beyond the point here. I was in pain! My little red haired self cannot live a partially normal life anymore.
Before I forgot… something even more mind blowing occurred after I left the park. This grown man, mustache and everything was trying to hit on me. Being as clueless as ever, I was oblivious about what was going on until an old little lady told him off for me. And as if I was a little girl at the age of five all over again, she told me, and I quote, "Don't speak to strangers dreary," unquote.
Letting out a troubled sigh, I laid my head on my pillow and stared at my purple ceiling. I know that deep down on the very end of your tongue you are about to judge me because my room is painted a lime green color. So, shush.
My heart almost jumped out of my chest at the sound of a new message on Jaden's phone which lay limply by the side. I didn't know if it was him or someone else. For some reason, I want interested in scoping through his business as yet. Don't you dare say anything, the yet was necessary because no one knows when curiosity will prevail.
Deciding what the heck, I slowly inched my hand towards the phone and unlocked it. There was this party invite which was held about ten blocks away from my house. Matthews Annarell was hosting one of his many parties again. This guy was big in our school and popular throughout the neighborhood. I swear, he was even more respected than Jaden.
Tapping my finger on my chin, a brilliant idea popped into my mind. Eva likes parties and this one is bigger than huge. Obviously she will be there. This is my chance in showing her that I am worthy of her trust. Okay, I don't know how I'll do that but I will find a way. I am the head nerd at the school after all.
Jumping off my bed and putting Jaden's phone to a side after accepting the invite, I took a quick look at the clock. It was already late, about five minutes to eight. The invite had nine on it should be wise to arrive at nine thirty. Eva always said that you should never arrive early to a party; it's rude to the host. The later the better.
"Gosh, I hope that this is a good idea," I say, whispering to myself and peeping my head inside my clown attires.
* * *
At exactly nine fifteen, I was all dressed up and ready to go. My heels were negative six inches, my skirt was directly on my knee and I wore a spaghetti strapped top. I figured that dressing all in black and putting my bright red hair in a ponytail was the safest way to go.
Sucking in a truck load of oxygen into my lungs, I locked my front door and made my way to the party. Thanks god I figured it wiser to wear flats than heels. That walk would have been too much of a hassle plus I would resemble an ugly duckling with roller-skates when I entered the party. I hope there wasn't a 'no-nerds-allowed' rule there though. I was surely not prepared to seduce the host to let me in.
I can't even seduce the thirstiest guy at school!
The walk wasn't as bad as I thought. I wasn't the only one who was headed to the party at this time. To be honest with myself, this is the first time that I've been to a party in all my life. Eva used to beg me to come with her but I always faked being sick or went over to my aunt's house for that day. Pathetic, I know, it's pretty obvious honey.
Walking up the driveway, my ears were already bleeding and I wasn't even inside the house as yet. There were red cups everywhere, I barely saw the grass. Matthews owned a pool and it was in his front yard, persons were jumping in naked. Some were clothed but the majority was maybe already drunk and didn't care less. I for one cared a lot because I saw some guys lift a sophomore and dunked her into the water.
I winced in pain for the dear girl; she really needed a good excuse to give her parents when she returned home tonight.
Walking up the front steps and into the house, the horrid stench of alcohol punched me in the face. I swore that my head would have exploded. My ears were on the verge of bleeding when suddenly, the music stopped and all lights were put on. I was then in the center if the living room and everyone's eyes were on me for a split second and then back to their phones.
Laughter erupted throughout the house at whatever was on the screens of their smart phones. I didn't need to question a second more because a T.V was lowered from the ceiling and a video began playing.
The word Embarrassing would be the understatement of the century at this point. There, right before my eyes and before the eyes of everyone else at the party was a video of me, wearing my dinosaur costume, in a mud puddle outside of my house. The costume wasn't that bad but my failed attempt to ‘twerk’ and sing was the joke.
"I am Mrs. Sexy! Oh watch me shake my bottom!
I know you want this baby!
Everyone wants this hunnay!"
After the first line I turned to face the person who was videoing (Eva) and then did some funny faces. The costume didn't have the head and I had the most ridiculous face pain on. Red, purple and black face pain and a bright green costume, standing in the mud and singing; talk about social suicide.
I wanted to cry, there was no way that they could have gotten that video because it was on my phone it was recorded and Eva hasn't gotten hold of it since that day. But how ... How could everyone have gotten that video.
Tears were threatening to stream down my face. I was holding it in with all my might.
My eyes trailed the room but everything seemed to be going in circles. There, standing by the bar and laughing the loudest was a blond girl with a very tight short turquoise dress. Her eyes were watering at this 'joke' a.k.a Amber Michelle.
Eva turns and points at me and laughs even more. I couldn't take it anymore. If I needed to die of shame, I would do it myself and not with the help of Jaden Brat.
Turning around, I stormed out of the house and ran to the sidewalk. I needed to clear my mind but there was no way I was going to my house, there were too many bad memories there. Memories I wish never happened. Wiping away the tears from my eyes, I ran in the opposite direction of my house.
Eva, Amelia, Jaden and everything else was on my mind at this moment and it was slowly breaking me down.
