You Were Always There For Me
Katsuragi x Reader
(C)=Colour of choice
(F)=Food of choice
Living in the high class was nothing you wanted part of. Being called a snob, as well as being treated differently by the same species. Wearing stuffy and puffed up gowns, today was the last straw.
It is your birthday today, and your father had thrown a huge ball for you to meet fellow suitors. However, you were not in favor of even the idea of marriage. Nonetheless, you went for the ball. You were having a good time talking to many of the suitors. Most had their eyes on you, however the minority just enjoyed the company and noise, and carried on with their lives as per normal, and never even dreamed of marrying you. Perhaps it was due to the way you were brought up, or the air you had around yourself. Whatever the reason, it was erased the moment you heard someone saying, "She's out of our league. Give it up. Save the embarrassment."
It had, however, saddened you much more then flattered you. Just as the third song played by the orchestra ended, they moved off the stage to make way for your father. Looking up at him, you had no idea what was going to happen next. "Ladies, gents, we are here today to witness my daughter turning into a woman." Claps were heard as you looked blackly at your father. He was sure to have an ulterior motive, and you knew you were not going to like it. "We are gathered here today to celebrate as the bond between my daughter and a young man meet." Soon the spotlight was shone on you.
Stunned, you remained at your seat staring at your father with wide eyes as the people around you clapped. Looking to your right, your attendant stood at the right wing of the ballroom, waiting for any sign from you or your father. "And the lucky man is..." You father trailed off, making your mind think. 'Did he just pick my 'soon to be husband' himself? I never agreed to such a thing.' Just as you father was about to announce the man's name, you stood, looked your father in the eye, and said, "I never said I was going to get married after this ball."
Rage was felt throughout the area, and even without looking into your eyes, people feared the consequences that your voice silently promised. "I am not getting married just to please you. I will get married on my own terms, at my own pace." And with that, you stomped to where your attendant resided. Gasps were heard from the audience, but fell on deaf ears as you walked right out of the ballroom with your attendant in tow. Your father tried to calm the worried crowd down as you closed the door behind you, walking towards your room.
Changing into casual clothes and packing up, you looked to your attendant as he called your mother up, explaining the situation. "Thank you, Katsuragi. I will manage from here." You said pulling your baggage towards the front door. When you stepped out, a car was parked right at the end of the staircase leading up to the mansion. Pulling the heavy suitcase, you approached the car, and opened the trunk to stow the suitcase away. "(Y/N)!" Your father's voice rang from beside you. You turned and saw that he was just out the door. "You cannot do this to me! First you embarrass me in front of the guests, and now you leave? Unacceptable."
As if on cue, Katsuragi stepped in and you took it as a sign to leave. Opening the car door and sliding in, you wound down the window just as your father tried to get pass Katsuragi. "If there is anything that is unacceptable father, it would be the way you force tradition on everyone. Maybe that was why mother left you." You said bitterly, and wound the window up as your father's face changed from one of anger, to one of sorrow and regret. Driving off, your father made no attempt to bring you back.
A few months have passed, and you were adjusting very well to the new lifestyle. Though the riches were a lot less, the home was much warmer then the huge empty mansion. Laughing, a phone call came. Your mother excused herself and walked over to the phone to pick it up. Laying on the sofa, you got yourself comfortable and reached for the pillow behind your head. "Alright, I will let her know. Thank you and have a nice day." After that, your mother ended the call. Sitting up, you looked in her direction and saw her glowing smile. "Mom, I might need to wear sunglasses if you keep smiling like that." You grin as you reached for a pair of sunglasses right on he coffee table.
"Go get dressed. We are going somewhere for dinner." Your mother said as her smile all but faltered. Nodding, you moved to your room and got a blue gown out. "Is it going to be fancy?" You thought out loud as you placed the gown on your bed. "Or is it casual?" You said once again as you pulled out a green sun dress. placing the dress down, you looked at the two. 'Casual or fancy?' You wondered as you looked at the two. Sighing, you walked back to your closet and pulled a (C) sleeveless knee-length dress. You then pulled a pair of stockings out completing the outfit with a pair of black flats. 'Casual fancy it is then.' Taking a shower and changing right after, you walked out of your room and saw your mother wearing something along the lines of casual.
'Thank goodness I wore this.' You thought as you pulled yourself to the red car your mother owns. Slipping in, you blasted the music and air con while awaiting your mother's entrance to the driver's seat. Your mother turned up the music, and started to drive. Covering your ears, you turned the music down to a more manageable volume. "Why did you do that mom... You know I have sensitive ears." You said with tears in your eyes. Chuckling, she said, "The last time I saw you, that was the volume you used to turn to." Laughing the incident off, you leaned against the window and looked out as the car moved to its destination.
Arriving, you looked up at a restaurant, and immediately felt under dressed. Looking back at your mother, you realised that what she has worn was indeed casual, however the amount of fancy she had added here and there to her outfit put her at a higher level then you. Blushing, you bottled up your feelings and waited as your mother pulled the restaurant doors open. The wave of cold air hit u like a stone wall, and sent you shivering. 'Darn it. And I forgot a cardigan.' You thought as you followed your mother through the huge freezer. "A reservation for Ophelia and my daughter (F/N) (L/N)." You mother spoke to the waiter as you looked around.
'This seems familiar.' You thought as the waiter escorted you and you mother to a private booth. Soon a waiter came in with two cups of water. We ordered and had small chats every now and then. Finally the food had been served. You called your mother to eat and dug into your own food. Sudden realisation struck you as you took the first bite of (F). You stopped eating and looked to the walls. You mother smiled a sad smile as she saw you figure everything out. "I-is this father's restaurant?" You asked in fear. Why was your mother doing this to you? Did she not dislike him too? Your mother smiled the sad smile and shook her head. "Your father sold this restaurant. And a very wealthy duke bought it over." Your mother piped.
Setting your utensils down onto the table, you focused on what your mother had to say. "He retained the designs and even cooks for the restaurant himself." Your mother smiled after she spoke. That smile held a small secret behind it as she turned back to her food. "I want to meet him." You said softly. No one ever got anything from your father unless he could gain something out of the deal. Nodding, your mother called the waiter in. "Could you kindly bring the chef in?" Your mother asked politely. Bowing, the waiter disappeared to find the said man. Resuming your meal, you ate slower then usual. Thinking of how the duke might look like, you sipped the cup of water, and finished up your meal.
Just as you put your utensils down, the waiter came back in, and held the door open for someone. A bead of sweat trickled down your face as nervousness took over. As soon as the man had moved in, he turned around, and bowed curiously. Stunned, you gasped and froze. Not knowing what to do. As he got back up, he smiled at you and your mother. "K-Ka-Katsuragi?" You inquired as you slowly stood from your seat. He smiled whole heartedly and said, "I am so glad you remember me my lady." As soon as he was done with his sentence, you had run over and hugged the living daylights out of Katsuragi, your ex-attendant. Tearing a little, you hugged him tighter, as if he would disappear as soon as you loosened your grip.
Somewhere in this time, your mother had brought the waiter out, and left the room. Now it was just you and Katsuragi. Over the time that you had lived with your mother, you had realised that the only person you had wanted to spend your life with was your one and only attendant. Soon he hugged back, as soon as that happened, all your fears, worries and troubles melted and became the background of the scene. After a while, both you and Katsuragi let go of each other, and finally the room fell into a comfortable silence. Though you had realised your feelings towards Katsuragi, you did not know whether your feeling was requited. So you hesitated after calling his name a few times.
Katsuragi sensed how tense you were and pulled you up with him as he stood. He slipped a hand into his pocket, and pulled his fist out. Looking into Katsuragi's eyes, you felt yourself get lost in his eyes. Soon he got down on one knee and held your right hand. Placing your left hand onto your mouth to soften your gasp, tears threatened to fall as he unclenched his fist, showing a tiny red velvet box. Opening the box to reveal a diamond ring, he asked for your hand in marriage. "Will you, Miss (F/N) (L/N), marry me?" The tears spilled as you nodded your head furiously. Grinning from ear to ear, Katsuragi slipped the ring onto your finger, and hugged you. "Thank you Katsuragi.
You Were Always There For Me."
