"I Love You Too, (Y/N)."
Labrador x Reader
Skipping through the hallways of the church, you greeted nuns and bishops that walked in the opposite direction you were headed to: the library. You were an orphan that was taken in by the church a few years back as a child, and grew up surrounded by the faith. As such, people believed that you had a very sheltered life.
They were wrong.
Books upon books have been read by you. You had learned to experience things through a different medium. Though never been through some of these situations, you were empathetic enough to "experience' what each character went through. But one thing stood out to you. You could never understand or fathom how people could like each other romantically.
Upon reaching the library, you darted to the nearest bookshelf, and snagged the latest book you had taken an interest to. Determined to understand how the two main characters were feeling for each other, you set off to find one of the few most familiar bishops you were close to.
You pranced into the garden as a blonde left through the gate you were to pass. "Hey (Y/N)! What do we have here?" Frau asked as he used two fingers to pull the book that you had gripped tightly in your arms. Frowning a little, you tried to yank it back, only for the book to slip out of both individual's grip and fall open to the page you had left off on. Scrambling over to the book, you were a second too late as the blonde plucked the book off the ground to examine the words printed on the pages. Red burned your face as you tried to grab the book from Frau's grasp by jumping. Frau chuckled as he read a few paragraphs into the page.
Before he could utter another word, a shorter brunette walked up behind you and scowled at the blonde. "One of your perverted books again Frau?" Your cheeks burned even more as you stopped trying to get the book back. The brunette seemed to finally notice your presence as Frau's laughter increased. You shut your eyes and crouched over into a ball, too embarrassed to even come up with an explanation.
"What is with this noise? And what have you done to (Y/N)?" Having had your eyes shut, all you could hear was the book falling to the floor as a body collided with the floor as well. Peeking open one eye, you grabbed the book and hugged it to your chest, closing your eyes yet again to avoid any eye contact. "Frau. What have you done to (Y/N)?" Recognising this voice, you sprung up and hid behind the white robes of Castor, avoiding eye contact with the brunette who was a complete stranger to you.
Groaning from both the pain in his abdomen and the pain for the impact of his fall, Frau rose to his full height and snickered as you peek out from behind Castor's robes. "This chick was reading some sappy romance book. I didn't even know we had that material in our library." The blonde started chuckling again as the brunette's eyes widened, knowing fully well he had just accused someone else of being perverse.
"I'm so sorry for jumping to conclusions." The brunette turned to you as he bowed at the waist. You peeked out from Castor's robes again, knowing that it was not polite to not acknowledge someone as they were apologising. "It's just that, Frau is very into those things, and for many reasons, he had hidden some explicit content in plain sight. Specifically as other books." He bowed once again as you nodded, accepting his apology.
Smiling, Castor patted your head, making you look up to him. Frau's chuckles seem to die down as another shadow loomed over you. "Seeing as we need to patch up and get some introductions in, why not we all come to my garden, and I can make us all some tea?" Labrador piped up as he patted your head from behind. You beamed at him and nodded your head, as the brunette smiled down at you. You were just a few years younger than him, and he had the urge to protect you as a younger sibling.
Castor turned back to Frau, obviously unhappy about the blonde making the young girl uncomfortable, but left it at that to avoid the young girl from picking up violence. Frau snickered and followed the four into the greenhouse.
Stepping foot into the glass dome, you sighed as the fragrance of the plants soothed your tense muscles and calmed your nerves. Jogging over to the table, you placed down your book before running off to pick some flowers from the garden to freshen up your room. The bishops went over to have a seat at the table, while Teito took it upon himself to ensure you did not hurt yourself.
Once they were alone, Castor glared at Frau who just smirked in reply. "Just curious," Castor started as Labrador reached over to brew the tea, "why was (Y/N) crouching over when I came?" The blonde heaved a sigh of annoyance.
"Didn't you hear the other brat? Teito assumed that it was one of those books and asked if the book I was holding was one of those books. Obviously the "owner" of the book would feel embarrassed to be the "owner" of the book which others have assumed to have an unpleasing genre." The blonde closed his eyes and shook his hand back and forth, as if fanning himself. Castor squinted, trying to detect if the said blonde was lying.
"Now now, that should be enough." Labrador said as he placed down a tray holding a few cups and a teapot. Looking down at the book you had placed on the table earlier, Labrador took the book as the other two bishops had a stare down. "My, I didn't even know we had this book in our library." The glaring bishops turned their attention to Labrador. The blonde grinned.
"That's wat I've been saying. But four eyes here didn't want to listen." Not a minute later, the blonde's face was acquainted with the glass table.
Both you and Teito ran back to the table, full of smiles and chuckles. Placing the flowers on the table beside the blonde's head, you had raised a hand to place a flower wraith on Frau's head, and another on Castor's, who bowed his head down while thanking you for the effort. Just as you turned to look over at the last of the bishops, you dropped the wraith. Teito looked over at you with worried eyes.
Your innocent eyes looked up at the book in Labrador's hands. "Labrador?" You began. Castor tilted his head up while Teito took a step back, glad you were not upset. "I can't understand a feeling this book pointed out. Could you show it to me?"
Upon seeing the cover of the book, a giggle could be heard, shaking the table minutely. Another slam on the head, and Castor was pulling Frau out of the greenhouse while guiding Teito by his back. Teito looked at Castor. "Will she be alright?"
After sending a wave in the two individual's direction, Castor looked down to Teito and smiled. "She's fine, she's with Labrador. Besides, we should give them some privacy." With that, the three exited the greenhouse.
"(Y/N), what do you want to clarify with me?" Labrador inquired with a smile. You continued staring at him, scrunching your face up as you thought of how to phrase your question. Unbeknownst to you, your cheeks tinted a bright pink. If Labrador saw, he made no effort to point it out as he patiently waited for your reply.
"They described the emotion to be a very strong feeling." You looked at the grass as you thought about how you were going to continue the question. "And that it was one of the main factors in many of the character's decisions." Finally looking up at Labrador, your cheeks had gone from a tint of pink, to a dull vermilion.
Labrador continued to smile, knowing what else you had read at such a young age. He gestured to the seat beside him, urging you to take a seat as he would try to explain your query. "They also did this thing with their lips." You pointed to your lips as you tried to remember the word.
"A kiss?" You beamed as you turned to ask how Labrador knew the word you were trying to remember. Your eyes widened as you turned. Labrador was hunched over and had placed a kiss on your forehead. Once he pulled back, he smiled down at you as your cheeks flared up into a glowing scarlet. "This gesture, is to show someone you care about your affection." He smiled as he cupped your cheek.
"When you feel strongly for a person, like I do for you, you can show your appreciation like that."
You smiled as you leaned up and pecked him on the lips. "Thanks for explaining this to me Labrador." You got off the chair and ran to the entrance of the greenhouse. Labrador's smiled faded as he raised two fingers to his lips. "Oh and one more thing," your voice caused him to snap out of his trance and cast his gaze on you. You clasped your hands behind your back as you twirled around to face him, continuing, "thank you for the guidance you have shown me all this while. I really appreciate it! I love you Labrador!" You grinned before turning away and running out of the greenhouse.
Labrador smiled again and sat back down. Picking up his tea to take a sip, he caught sight of the reason for this encounter, as well as the wreath you had originally made for him. He picked up the wreath in one hand and the book in the other. Seeing a bookmark in the book, he gently placed the beautifully made wreath back onto the table and opened the book to where you last stopped. He chuckled to himself upon seeing the sappy scene you had stopped at. He closed the book and looked back at the entrance of the greenhouse, placing the wreath on his head.
"I Love You Too, (Y/N)."
