Human Nature(Pride)

Hyuuga x Reader

Another day, another week. Another month another year. This is true in every living things life. Until it comes a time where death puts a stop to this cycle. So living everyday to its fullest is the best way to live a life on earth. And that's exactly what you did. Ever since young, you have been living a life hat others may deem unfit for the world. Following how you love to live life. Not bound by how society saw you. And of course going against what people thought of you. Living life around males was the best thing you loved. Joining the army, you disregarded the society's branding of females not being able to do things a male can. People resented you, but all you ever needed was the encouragement of your parents to fuel your journey through life. This is, until your parents started changing.

Day by day, your parents would look more tired then they were supposed to be with their part-time job. You had been wondering whats could have caused it, that is until you caught them on their way back from work on one of your days off from school.

There had been a crowd around your house. People of all ages crowded around. Puzzled, you hid around the corner of the house next to yours. Soon you had adjusted to the racket the people were making, allowing you to pick up words from the different people. "Kill yourselves." "Daughter." "Disgrace." "How could you?" You did not get what they were aiming at, until your ears picked up a voice. "How could you think so highly of yourselves? Sending your daughter to the military school. Do you think your daughter is better than my son? If so, get her out here and challenge him now!" Your heart ached. That voice was the very same person you had created a bond with. Your favourite neighbour. You had played with her son for years. You could not understand what had brought about this mob of people to hate your parents for something as trivial as you going to a military school.

You were just about to step out of the shadows and make yourself known, when the front door of your house opened. Out stepped your father, fatigued beyond belief. If anyone saw him now, they would think that he was drunk. But you knew better than to think that. Your father hated even the thought of alcohol, so you knew that alcohol bottles will not survive in his sight. Either he would have thrown them out, or he would have given them away. Since he was not intoxicated, you knew far too well that this mob has been happening everyday without fail. So much so that your parents could not sleep or eat. You felt guilty that you had brought them this pain and suffering while they encouraged you to pursue your dreams.

Soon your mother stepped out and walked right up to the neighbour you used to love. Raising her hand, she brought her palm down on the neighbour's cheek so hard that the sound resonated through the air and the mob had been reduced to silence. Your mother, as fatigued as your father, had tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to fall. "What do you think you are doing down grading my daughter?" Before anymore was said, your father had pulled her back and into the house, shoving her into a seat that you knew was right next to the door. Anger rose to the neighbour's features. She took one step forward, and you knew you had to intervene.

Running forward, you stopped in front of your father, holding your arms out as if to shield your father from the mob of people. The neighbour who had aimed a slap on your father had slapped you on the cheek instead. Some people who had gotten over their shock had started to snicker while others were still in the state of shock from your sudden appearance. "If you have business with me, take it our on me. Not my parents." Looking back, you saw your mother peeking out the door to see you. You looked up to your father and signalled him to go into the house. He shook his head and gently grasped your mother's hand and brought her out to take in your features.

Having to study in the military meant that you had to move into a dorm and was not allowed out unless they had a few days off. The only way to communicate with the outside world was but postcard or letters, which you and your parents frequently exchanged. How you found out that something was causing them to be tired was simple. When you first started, your parents had written about everything they did from when they woke to when they were writing to you. As the days went by, the normally 2 page long letters became shorter and shorter, to the point where the latest letter only had a quote.

You had turned back to the mob of people to see that all of them had been shaken from the state of shock and were now shouting at your supposed "arrogance" to advance into the military. "Mom! I'm home!" A familiar voice rang. The female who had slapped you brightened with joy. Her son was home, and she will live up to her word of challenging you to a fight between her son and you. "Son! Great timing! Take care of this arrogant girl of mom please?" People in the crowd started to look at each other. Not many of them had thought that an actual fight would occur due to their actions. Some had started to back away while others had formed a ring around me and the neighbour's son.

Nervousness was felt in your parents' direction, while confusion was the only thing you felt from the male in front of you. "Mother? You want me to fight (Y/N)? Do you know how many times she has beaten me in class?" He chuckled while his mother sent him a death glare. Looks of disdain was thrown his way. Nervousness took over him as well as he finally understood what is happening. "This is not about genders is it?" A bead of sweat rolled down his forehead as he dropped his bag he had brought along to visit home. A glare from his mother told him all he needed. He began to protest but the menacing looks sent from the group was enough to shut him up.

"Son," the female paused to make sure she had gotten her son's attention. "Kill her if need be. Arrogant people like these should not even exist. Right?" A scream of panic rose from your mother's throat as she thrashed around in your father's tight grip. You looked back at them and gave them s small smile. You had basic training, and had beaten the male in front of you many times before. So you had no fear to face the challenge up ahead. 'A life for how a few people want live to be. Following the society that they comprise of. All for what? For their dignity? Pride? Or self pleasure?' You sighed and looked back to your opponent who was hesitant on what to do.

"Hey!" You called out to get the frantic male's attention. "I'll beat you in front of everyone to see how about that?" You had started your daily dose of verbal banter with the male. He caught on to what you were doing and smirked, replying with a 'let's see you goes down this time.' He then leaned back cracked his back, earning a round of cheers from the crowd. Soon after the crowd had settled, the you of you had leapt into action. Sparring with each other like it was any other physical test. Neither really pushing each other to try harder. But his mother just had to notice this tiny little fact.

"Son." She said in a very threatening tone. The soar was paused for a short while before the male had activated his zaiphon. 'Stop.' He slashed at you, only for you to dodge at the last second. 'Stop!' Another slash was sent to your face horizontally. 'Stop it!' Once you had looked up, you saw that his features were full off terror. His eyes pleaded for you to protect yourself if that meant to hurt him. The split second that you had left was used to activate your own zaiphon on your arms and bring them up to meet his attack. In the military, his zaiphon had been on of the most destructive ones. You knew that if you were even nicked by his zaiphon, it could mean internal bleeding.

You pushed him back and ran to meet your parents, asking them to go to a safer place. Just then you felt a gust of wind whip pass your body. You had gripped onto your parents to ensure their safety as remains of your classmate's zaiphon had whipped you on the leg. Noting the small handicap, you did a mental check and was relieved that your wound was not as bad as it would have been if he was really aiming for your foot. You turned as met another attack face on. The female laughed. "Arrogance is what brought this situation. You will pay for your arrogance. My son is the best. You will not change that. The people of the crowd then looked at her. Finally realising that their reasons were totally different. Sure the people had hated the "arrogance" of sending a female to the military, but none of them wanted a head to roll for the sake of their own flesh and blood to be the best.

"(Y/N), don't lose this." "(Y/N), you can do this." "Take the boy out!" "Your the arrogant one here!" "(Y/N) take out this pair."

Shouts had come from the crowd. You clenched your teeth together and wanted to lash out at the people around you. Just as you were about to bark at the people around you, another voice had cut in. "Is it just me, or are humans in this part of town as arrogant as each other?~" Your head whipped to the source of this voice as soon as you had found the source. A gasp from your classmates mouth meant that whoever that was, was exactly who you had identified in your mind from his voice.

The major of the Black Hawks, Hyuuga.

You had straightened to salute, but before your arm could even move, a screech came from the female, startling the male who you had been battling with. As an instinct, he had dove for you in an attempt to hug you for comfort. Just as you had turned around, he had tackled you to the ground. Blood started to seep from a suddenly open wound in your back, for he had forgotten to deactivate his zaiphon before lunging at you. Everyone was shocked, except his mother. She shrieked with laughter. "That's what you get arrogant child." Before she could leave however, the Major of the Black Hawks had knocked her out, causing her to fall to the ground with a loud thud.

Her son barely noticed as he scrambled away from your still body. Your mother shrieked and ran into the house to get a first aid kit to try and help the situation. Your father was frozen, and every other person had tried to get away. But every person that left a 1 meter radius away from your limp body would have been knocked out. Your mother, who had retrieved the first aid kit, rushed out and started assessing the damage done to your back. The Major looked other at the trembling male, staring at the very hands that had made you go limp. "We'll talk about the punishments for harming your own comrade later on." The male looks up at the Major and looked back ad your limp form. "If you really are her friend you would be there helping her you know?" Something seemed to snap in the males head as the Major said that, and he sprung to his feet to help your parents in aiding you. Once you were bandaged, you were taken to the military hospital. Your parents were allowed to visit you. When you had reached the hospital, they had examined you and sent you straight to the emergency. The wound had been only described as seared into your back. It would take  a long time to heal. Until then, there was to be no activities taken by you.

At first you had protested, but as soon as you tried to move, the pain punched you in the gut and you fell back into the bed. You had complied but were grew less and less patient as time went by. You longed to get back into training. But staying in the hospital had its perks as well. You had peace and quiet that the military rarely sported and you did not have to move around too much to eat. The only thing that lightened your mood was the Major's frequent visits. For the first few weeks of him visiting, you had been awkward and even resorted to talking about the current affairs of the military. But as the days went by, the both of you could be considered best friends. Talking about anything. From what they each had for breakfast, to what happened down the street between two housewives.

Eventually, your concern for he Major had grown, and incidentally, his to you as well.

When you were discharged, you leapt into the air and landed on your long unused legs, causing you to crumple into your father's hold. He sported an amused smile while your mother had one of horror, as if she had just left a haunted house. Either ways, you laughed and pulled them into a tight hug. You thanked them for how they had nursed you back to health and finally asked about your best friend and his mother's condition. Apparently, he had been called back everyday to have extra lessons on control of his powers. His mother on the other hand was sent to an asylum when reports from a hospital showed that she had mental illnesses. You allowed your parents to help you into a wheelchair and roll you out.

Seeing the plain white walls made you happy that you had changed into colours other than white before you had left the room. Just as your parents were about to turn another corner, the Major of the black hawks had appeared from the very corner you were about to be rolled into. "(Y/N)! My it must feel good to be out of that room!" You paled at the memory of tubes being pierced into your skin and needles sedating you when you had retaliated to something you did not like. He chuckled at the sudden paleness of your face and looked up to greet your parents. When you had reached your room in the military, you realised that your parents had been carrying luggages.

Only then did you realise that during your hospitalisation, they had lived closer to the military and were about to depart back home. A frown appeared on your face when your father looked at his wristwatch and sighed. "Well, time to go. Take better care of yourself (Y/N). This time your mother and I won't be there beside you when you wake up." Your mother heaved him a horrified face and lectured him about how they were no where near the age of death, but in actual fact their lives were already in their last phase. You grinned at your father and nodded. Your mother sighed and turned to you.

"We have made arrangements with the military for us to visit you once a month. So count on us coming to disturb you every month." You giggled and nodded your head at your mother. You stood up to hug them, shortly after the hugs, you were forced back into your wheelchair. Your father had taken the luggages and left the dorms. Just as your mother turned to leave, she glanced over at you. "And I want to see black haired, (E/C) children at my home soon." You were stunned for a split second before you had understood your mother. You blushed and was about to retort when a voice came from behind you.

"Well that can be arranged..." You turned to see the Major waving in your mother's direction. You proceeded to swing your head back and forth to see how the facial expressions of each person changed as your own expression changed when facing the two people; a look of horror for your mother, and a look of disbelief for the Major behind you. Your mother chuckled and rushed out to follow your father. After that scene, it grew increasingly difficult to look at the male behind you. "Did you not like the idea?" Your eyes widened and the blush on your face grew even darker. You looked down to avoid his gaze.

A long, gloved finger tilted your chin up to look at his face and, most importantly, his eyes. You gulped and stammered out a short. "We'll see...." His grin almost blinded you as he resumed his place behind you to wheel you into your room.
