Chapter 16.
I woke up at the hospital, and my friends were beside me. I got up, but there was a spasm of pain which rushed through my back. Jaggu uttered, "Easy buddy, easy. Take rest." I spoke out barely, "Buddy.... Bud.... Shabnam.... Where???" Sesha replies, "Take rest Brother." Akash converses, "Buddy, please take care of yourself. We are worried for you. The doctor said that you are gonna be ok. You are out of danger." Anu chimed in, "Please do not stress buddy. We want you to be alright." Surekha says, "You gonna have some rest. We gonna take care of things brother." I was deeply moved by their kind words, but I was not worried about them. I wanted to know about Shabnam, and I spoke out, "I appreciate......your kindness... I am always indebted to y'all...... Please tell.... tell......Shabnam." My friends were looking at each other, I could see apprehension covering their visages, but they were trying to hide it unsuccessfully, however, Jaggu decided to take the cat out of the bag.
Jaggu uttered, "Buddy...Buddy.... Shabnam is no more.... She is martyred." I was glaring at Jaggu, I was grieved, but I felt pride for her, as she did not care about her life, and cared about her colleague's safety. I requested them to take me to her funeral, and I was at her funeral, her beautiful carcass lay in the coffin. Everyone laid wreath, I too lay wreath on her coffin, and I broke down. Everything came in a flash, our meeting, the love we had, the golden memories we had together, every memory of her drenched me. Shabnam was buried, and now she rested in peace forever, there would be no worries, she is free from grief, and now she is in the abode of God. Shabnam has become a heroine, the news about her bravery spread like wildfire, and the media interviewed the policemen, us, and Shabnam's colleagues. I was proud of my Shabnam, she has become a champion, and an inspiration for youngsters.
