Chapter 12.
We briefed them about who they were working for, and they were all flabbergasted. Our mission was full of serendipity, including my meeting with Shabnam, I never thought, I would fall for a woman in this mission. Our rota was focusing on mission, but now I was concurrently focusing on love. Shabnam who was stunned about all this, was sitting on the chair, and her head buried in her arms, resting on the desk. I sat near Shabnam, and said, "I'm sorry for whatever happened, but this was all a part of the investigation." I could see Shabnam was snivelling with her head buried in her arms, and I tried some humour and uttered, "You know, my voice is falsetto." Shabnam raised her head, and looked at me, and replied, as her voice was heaving, "My fraught....is not understandable to you.... Sir. I understand...you have a mission... but this could have been done without us." I saw her teary eyes, which made her look beautiful, she wiped her tears, and replied, "You know... You...I did not know about you. I thought you were genuine. I...know you are honest; you are doing your duty... but I never knew.... I ...I... really do not understand you." She was snivelling, and continued, "I do not wanna move in circles, I... I had fallen for you, I loved you... Yes, I loved you. I do not know."
I was not surprised, but I was happy as she had made a move, I answered, "Even though I loved you, there was no hiding from you." I pulled her closer and cuddled her, she rested on me, I kissed her head, and uttered, "In the mall, I always found a way to help you, to come near you. Though I knew you were working at the house of those ruffians, I knew you were innocent." She glanced at me, and then, I continued, "You are safe here. I will be coming regularly to visit you." Shabnam smiled, and I left her. The safe house had all the modern amenities, this house was made especially for those, who worked as police informers, and for eye-witnesses. I used to meet Shabnam and used to take her out for movies, shopping, and restaurants, and that was the happiest phase in my life, but I used to take her to town, and not in the suburbs, as there was a risk, however, I knew which place was safe for her. We had a good time together, which would last me for a lifetime, that was a real plush moment of my life. We taught firing guns, and self-defence techniques to Shabnam and her colleagues. Shabnam had become an expert in firing guns, it seemed that she had an innate quality to fire the guns. Thanks to Sesha and Surekha who took the initiative, they were precocious.
