Zendaya's Pov

"I can't believe I'm gonna be tutoring you. You don't seem like you need any help."

"Well believe it!"

"To be honest I thought I was gonna have to tutor Jasmine or something."

"You mean Jasmine that hangs with Trevor and them?"

"Yep her."

"Oh my god she's in my class and she's so damn annoying!"

"Oh thank god! I'm not the only one who doesn't like her. I sit with them at lunch and she does not shut up ever."

"Try having to sit next to her in class. She makes me check all her #studentflow instagram posts while we're in class."

We both laugh at Jasmine's special brand of crazy but I know we both have to be at the volleyball game so I get right down to business.

"So Dinah what do you need help with?"

"Well I understand most of the concepts but it takes me longer to understand things because of all the distractions aroundat homega when I'm watching my siblings, so I really just need a quiet place to study. There are also time things fly over my head especially with most of the Shakespeare we read."

"So you just need a quiet place to study so you can focus with a little guidance when needed?"

"Yeah exactly!"

"Alright I think I can do that. When would be a good time to meet to study?"

"Any day I don't have a game of practice we could go to the Library, and on days I do I can ask Ms. Lovato if you can come to the games for any extra study time."

"You're trying out for the basketball team too, right?"

"Yeah I'm planning to."

"Then if you still need help then we'll keep the same schedule."

"Alright that sounds good to me."

"Okay well I think we're done here."

"Cool. Are you coming to the game?"

"Yeah Ms. Lovato asked me to do the score book today."

"Oh yeah she told me the regular girl wasn't gonna be there today."

"So I'm going to go to talk to Ms. Lovato. I'll see you down there, okay?"

"Okay."

"Okay later."

"Later."

Dinah's POV

Because I'm happy! Clap along if you feel if happiness is the truth! Woo! God is shining down on me this day. I can't believe this. Out of all people Ms. Aiko could've picked to tutor me she picked Zendaya. This is great news for me because not only will I get to be closer to Zendaya but I'll have a legit reason to be around her more often. I happy dance my way all the way to the locker room to get changed into my uniform, no one is actually paying attention to me because we do this stuff all the time in practice or before a game. I finish getting dressed and head downstairs to the gym to finish setting up so we can start warming up. 

As co-captains Lauren and I have to be the first one in uniform and have to set up the chairs on home game days. We don't really have a team of people who set up the gym for us like the boys basketball team does, we have to set up mostly by ourselves. The only help we get is with the poles and net because none of the team can do it themselves and none of us are tall enough to put the net at the right height, so we have the janitors do it while one of the captains watch over to make sure everything is at regulation. If things aren't regulation when the ref then Lauren and I have to fix it while he or she watches to make sure we do it right. There normally isn't a problem but some of the refs we get are pervs and make us feel uncomfortable around them. 

I get to the gym and Lauren is double checking the net while the janitors are watching over her. I see we still need some chairs to be put out so I don't waste time and go set up the rest of the chairs and the score table. I'm still in a great mood and dancing around when Lauren walks up to me so I try to calm down before she gets suspicious.

"Are you actually helping set up the gym for the game for once or am I seeing things?"

"You aren't going crazy I am actually setting up the gym for the game."

"What brought this on? Trying to make a good first impression on Zendaya?"

"NO! And even if I was she isn't even down here yet. I have no impression to make on her now by doing this."

"Yeah you do! Zendaya likes people who are about their business and are on time, and bonus points for being early, and you know that. Don't play dumb with me dude."

"I am not playing dumb, I'm just doing my job like I'm supposed to do."

"Oh yeah whatever. Why are you in such a good mood right now? You normally hate your last few classes of the day."

"No reason."

"I call bullshit on that, spill Hansen."

"Okay so you how I said I needed help in English? Well I talked to Ms. Aiko about it and she said would look into getting me some. Long story short she told me to come back after school to see who it was and it ended up being Zendaya as my tutor."

"Wow Zendaya was talking to me earlier today about how she was worried about if she was gonna get along with the person she would have to tutor. Now she'll have to worry about them flirting with her too much."

"Hey I heard that!"

"You were meant too. Was I wrong tho?"

"No."

"Okay then. Come on let's stretch."

Zendaya's POV

"Zendaya I can't thank you enough for helping me out today."

"It's no problem Ms. Lovato. I actually wanted to go to the game since it's the first home game of the season."

"Well thank you anyway."

"So what exactly do I have to do when we get down there?"

"Well you're in charge of the score book. You have to make sure the score is correct because the home book is always right."

"Okay I think I can do that."

"Good come on the girls should already be warming up in the gym."

We leave her classroom and I start to head towards the stairs but she leads me towards the elevator. The elevator is key only and the only people who are allowed to use have to have the key or have permission to. I've never had to use the elevator before but I know the culinary arts department uses it too so maybe I'll get to use it again one day. 

We get to the gym to see the girls running around to warm up. I spot Lauren and Dinah instantly, because they are some of the few people standing in the gym, I start to wave but they look busy so I forget it and head to the score table. Ms. Lovato hands me the score book and her roster, tells me to copy it, and leaves me alone while she talks to the team. As I'm finishing up with the book Lauren comes over to the table and sits with me.

"Hey you good Z?"

"Yeah why do you ask?"

"Because you kept looking over at Dinah and I."

"No I wasn't."

"Yes you were You were looking at Dinah for a good five minutes. I have never seen you look at anyone like that."

"Oh please I was not staring at Dinah."

"Tell that lie to someone who wasn't looking at you the entire time."

"Okay fine but can you blame me look at her in those little shorts. That girl has better legs than I do and I have really nice legs."

Lauren laughs and Dinah comes back from getting water and walks over to us.

"Hey what are you two talking about?"

"Oh nothing Z was just telling me a joke."

"Oh really? Can I hear it?"

"No it wasn't really that good Lauren was just being nice and laughing at it. You don't really want to hear it."

"Oh well maybe one day I'll be able to see for my self, come on Lauren we got to get back."

Lauren pats me on the shoulder and they get back to team warmups. I get everything situated with the refs and the other teams score person and we start the game. After the game ends I begin to pack up my stuff and a sweaty Lauren walks over to me.

"Hey once I'm done changing we can go alright?"

"Alright cool.

Lauren runs to go change so we can go and I finish packing up my bag. I hand Ms. Lovato the score book and go to walk away but she stops me before I can get out the gym.

"Zendaya I just wanted to say thank you for helping me out today.

"Oh it was no problem Ms. Lovato. I was happy to help."

"Well if you need anything from me at all. All you have to do is ask okay?"

"Well actually I did want to ask you something."

"Sure go ahead."

"Well Dinah needed a tutor for English so the teacher chose me to do it. I was wondering if on away games I could come with you guys so we could work on her assignments on the bus."

"Hmm I'll think about it and get back to you okay. I would have to go through the school first because you aren't on the papers I filled out for the team to go places with us."

"Okay well I just wanted to put the idea in your head. I'll see you in class then have a good night Ms. Lovato."

I leave the gym and wait in the entrance for Lauren to come out and in groups of two and three the girls on the team leave, a few of them even wave at me as they pass. Dinah and Lauren are the only two who haven't come out of the locker room, but as team captains they have to make sure everyone else is gone before they can leave because they have to collect the uniforms for the coach before they leave. Good thing I brought my charger to charge my phone during the game so I'm at least not bored.

I'm listening to music when Ms. Lovato comes out the gym and sits next to me, she doesn't look at me or say anything, so I don't move to take my headphones out. A minute later Lauren and Dinah come from around the corner with a laundry bag filled with the blue and yellow uniforms the team just played in inside, and another bag with the knee-pads inside of it.

"Here you go Coach one bag of uniforms and one bag of knee-pads returned to you as they were given out, although they might smell a little now."

"Thank you girls for collecting them for me. Make sure you get home safe okay?'

"Okay Ms. Lovato, same to you."

Lauren, Dinah and, I walk out first those two still carrying the two bags, which they take to Ms. Lovato's car, then once we're done we part ways Lauren and I going toward her dad's old car and Dinah long boarding out of the parking lot. Lauren asks if she needs a ride but she says no, so we continue out the parking lot and home.

AN: Chapter six is in the books! Hope you enjoyed it. Next chapter will be another time jump to basketball season because there isn't really much that happens and this story is about Zendaya being on the basketball team.
