A: not slow at all! i get that i've made it kind of confusing to follow, but that was honestly the goal. marian and coriolanus have been through a lot together, and especially with what we've seen at the end of this book, there's a lot of reparing of trust that needs to get done before mare can ever let him back into her "circle" again.

A: if any of my original readers are still here, they can vouch that when this book first was published, i came out with chapters like crazy fast (3-5 chapters a day) and because of the crazy number of readers i was gaining each day and the amount of support i was receiving, i pushed myself (nearly almost over the edge) to get as many chapters out as i could and now, in all honesty, i'm a burnt bit out and the fire i once had lit in my heart for marian and coryo is no longer there. please be patient in updates, i'm trying to be consistent with 2-3 chapters a week!

My question is (and I apologise if you've already answered it) after Sejanus is hanged and Mare leaves, did Coryo still 'run away' with Lucy Gray, because he thinks he might be next still? A: welcome! thank you so much for the kind words--you have no idea how much that means to me and i'm so grateful for readers like you 🫶 🫶 !! although i wanted it to be left up for the readers' minds to interpret, since you asked, here's what i imagine when planning the ending of part one.

so, we see Marian finally leaving district 12 the morning of Sejanus' execution, however, seeing Sejanus there--and ultimately, his death--puts a bump in the road to Marian actually returning home to the Capitol. so, the next day, she's gone to the barracks where Sejanus slept and ultimately, the initial ending planned was supposed to be Marian's final line, "And I close the door." -- meaning a multitude of things, closing the door of her past and into her new life, closing the door to end her and Coriolanus' relationship, etc. and the entire question of whether Mari and Coryo actually got back together or not was supposed to be sort of this open-ended question that the readers could theorize whether they lived a happy ending with their child or if they never saw each other again (until, of course, he became president of Panem.)

it's difficult to answer your question because i did want a lot to be up to the reader and whatever each individual person believed in their fate, especially since Lucy Gray is never mentioned in the second part of the book. but to answer your question shortly: no. i believe Coriolanus to be too grief-stricken (not necessarily over sejanus) but over the woman he's just had walked out of his life. and when, *spoiler alert* Dr Gaul has the 10th annual games erased from television, Coriolanus isn't glad because he was haunted with the question of whether he actually killed Lucy Gray or not, but because 1. it was the games that brought Marian and Coryo together in the first place and now it was in shambles. and 2. because he was in love with Lucy Gray (as well as Marian) and in a sense, she is what pulled Marian away from him and the life they could have lived.

a very long answer but it's a question i was hoping someone would ask hahaha !!

A: *spoiler alert for part one* Coriolanus never cheated on Marian as far as sexual correlations, but did kiss Lucy Gray (at least) once in District 12. he didn't sleep with any women since returning to the capitol, and will not be sleeping with anyone but Mare until at least the completion of this story.

A: oo i love this question! honestly, i was free-balling the whole thing but i did like a sort of blair x dan dynamic between the two as far as social classes, and (also with lydia x stiles) in terms of the academic rivalries. the plot of this story (and film) is truly like no other so it's definitely difficult to base them off of others and i'm unaware of any fictional couples with similar circumstances and battles Coryo and Mari deal with.
