Green | The Missing Drugs

A.N

These extras will be told only in the perspective of the character dedicated to the chapter.

I drummed my fingers on the table in irritation, looking back at Blue and Red as they eyed me.

Red had a frown on his face, but he wasn't allowed to be as irritated as I was; I'd been leading this case and had done the majority of work whilst he cheerfully helped his girlfriend prepare for her exams.

Blue, on the other hand, was grinning to herself like the complete idiot she was. Her pesky eyes had lit up two hours ago when she decided that her brain would be stimulated to work if she had enough alcohol.

Now, she wasn't even sober.

Yellow wasn't in the picture. For the last week, and probably until the end of the month, she'd been cooped in her room studying. Lance was especially harsh on training her, and she was eager to gain the same level of knowledge we had. Unfortunately for her, that meant she had no field work, and instead, was buried in books.

Quite literally, Chuchu had been the one forcing her to eat.

I sighed loudly, expressing my dissatisfaction once again. Nothing added up in this case.

"I say we just let them take him." Blue eventually stood up, her arms outstretched towards me. "Case closed."

"Shut up." I glared at her and she giggled, then slumped back down in her seat.

It wasn't an easy case, and we were under pressure from Lance considering it had been a huge drug bust for K-Z. The press were nagging at us to release names and information on our perp, but we were still conflicted.

We'd recently been dealing with a surge of cases regarding a new drug, nicknamed 'The Haunter', that had been popular in young adults. It thrived in parties and clubs, and had spread from Vermillion to Celadon. There had been two suspects, both middle-aged men from local backgrounds. One, Jericho Levin, had a record of robbery and theft, but no history of either selling or using drugs; he'd been tied to the case through an anonymous lead. The other, Marcus Dabney, was a well known dealer and I had already worked on cases that involved him. To us, it made complete sense to target Dabney instead of Levin.

Unfortunately, a group of cops had searched Levin's apartment and found half a ton of drugs stashed in his room. There were only grounds to prosecute him, but nothing added up in this situation.

"It just doesn't make sense," I looked at Red in thought, "They said that an officer found the drugs right under Levin's bed."

"So? He might have been in a rush to hide them; he's been missing since two days ago. Maybe he got a tip and ran?"

"I don't think so. If he's dealt the drugs for over a month, then they would have been hidden in a secure place. They probably wouldn't have even been at his house." I shook my head and then threw my bottle of water at Blue, who was nodding off now.

"Leave me alone!" She shouted, making Red and I wince.

"Why didn't you have coffee? It's a stimulant too?" Red rolled his eyes, "And shut up, Yellow's trying to study."

"Excuse me, Romeo, it's your girlfriend's fault for finishing the coffee." Blue stood up dramatically, "I should have got into that stash of 'The Haunter' before."

"If I remember right," I stood up and opened the bottle for her with a smirk, "You tried to make that tiramisu, and finished up all the caffeine here."

"Don't be rude, Green!" Blue complained, "I'm sorry I can't bake like Yellow, but you should treat me like Red treats Yellow."

I looked down at her in amusement as Red groaned, "What? Should I get an ex-girlfriend to abduct you? That's pretty tempting right now; I'll retrieve you when this case is over."

The brunette pouted and then wrapped an arm around my shoulder, "You would never be complimented if it wasn't for me. Now give me a kiss."

"Get sober first." I thrust the open bottle at her, accidentally pouring about half the water onto Blue's face.

It took a while to sink in before I regretted what I'd just done.

"Crap." Red stood up, then edged away from the room as I began to step away from the scene.

"Sorry Blue." I bit my lip, holding in a laugh, "That was an accident."

She stared up at me, a little lost, until a large droplet of water fell from her bangs and onto her face. There was a split second of hesitation before a piercing scream deafened all of Saffron City, and I spun around; passing the water to Red. Her eyes were blazing now and the fox was finally awake. Blue curled her fists and unleashed two swift punches to my chest.

"Do you have to?" I winced at the blow and grabbed her arms, pushing them away from me, "Pesky woman."

"You can be such an ass, you know that?" Blue hissed at me and then lifted her jumper to dry her hair.

"Want a kiss now?" I offered, smirking as my girlfriend considered the option, then shrugged.

"I'm going to get dry. I hope you don't solve the case..." She trailed off as she walked out of the room with a cold laugh, "You've only got three hours."

I groaned at the reminder and then sat back down in a slump, staring blankly at the cases as Red sat down, opposite me

Think, Green, think. You've got the best brains here and your hunches are good.

"Everything okay? I heard screaming."

Just as I'd begun to re-read a document, Yellow peeked her head into the room curiously.

"I dropped water on Blue on accident," I rummaged through papers, looking for a transcript of the interrogation, "sorry she disturbed you."

"That's fine, I'm taking a break. Does anyone want some Oran macarons? I'm having a sugar craving." The short girl walked into the room before looking down at the files wistfully.

"Sounds good." Red nodded, leaning forward in his chair to pull Yellow towards him.

"Any improvements in the case?" She leant against his chair as Red wrapped an arm around her waist, and I internally groaned.

"None. I just don't think Levin could orchestrate so many intricate deals, he's only had petty theft on the table." I looked at her and shook my head, "What do you think?"

By now, I'd learnt that Yellow and I had complete different approaches, and her perspectives were more refreshing when I was in these ruts.

"I just looked through a case study about a wrongly convicted man, who was actually framed." She stared off in a daze for a few seconds, then suddenly met my eyes, "Who found the drugs? Where were they?"

"They found the drugs under Levin's bed, in his apartment." I rummaged for a report of the search and scanned through the words, "It was Officer Gifford."

"Green thinks its dodgy that the drugs were easy to find." Red murmured.

"Know anything about Gifford?" Yellow asked with a nod.

"Not much, he's a bit of a newbie." I looked back at her, "Why?"

"Were there a lot of officers searching? Maybe he had the opportunity to plant the drugs." She stood back up and peered at the document in my hands, "Just three?"

"It gives him time, but what's the motive? And what about the anonymous tip?" Red joined us as we rummaged through the information.

"Let's focus on motive," I gestured to my laptop, which Yellow passed me, "thanks. Does he have any family that have a history of drug problems?" I asked myself.

I sped through my analytical program, filtering through the system and finding his name.

"Doesn't look like it," Red looked over the screen, "though his mum did die when he was nineteen."

"And look what happened two years after that!" Yellow gasped, tugging my arm, "He was admitted into a rehab facility."

"Alright," Red fished his phone out from under the papers, "I'm calling them up and asking for a copy of his documentation details. Email them our search warrant, Green."

"On it," I nodded my head and then looked back at the blonde, "think that Gifford's dealer was Dabney?"

"Makes sense," She nodded her head enthusiastically, "Trace back that anonymous call, see if you can tie it to him."

I sighed in relief, our hunch was right. Dabney was the one we were after, if he made the tip, we could focus on catching him instead.

"It feels so nice to do something that isn't work for once." Yellow stretched out her arms and then giggled, "Alright, I'm going to go make those macarons."

"Blue probably needs them the most." I murmured, smiling as I thought back to her anger.

~~•~•~~

"That's it. We're done." I met Blue's eyes and smiled, and she half-heartedly returned the expression.

"I hate to say it, but nice job." She rolled her eyes, and from her position on the table, she ruffled my hair.

I closed my eyes as her pointed fingers ran through my tangles, "That dumb case stressed me out, but my report was worth it."

"Yeah, well it was Yellow who pushed you in the right direction," Blue yawned and then giggled, "I just can't believe it was Gifford who made the call from the precinct's line."

"An idiot," I scoffed, "but it means there's more work to do, we have to catch Dabney."

"Well let's go treat ourselves to a sugar overdose." Blue licked her lips, leaping up and grabbing my hand, "Kitchen. Now."

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes, letting her lead me to the room.

Unfortunately, for us, the macarons weren't our first sight. Instead, we arrived in the room to find Yellow perching on the counter, with Red's hands on either side of her as he kissed her; blocking our access to the pastel biscuits.

I think my appetite had just disappeared.

I looked back at Blue in horror, and then regretted it when I saw she was glaring at me, "Why don't you ever kiss me like that?"

"I'm about to kill you instead." I frowned as I gestured towards the two idiots, who were in their own little world.

"I got this," Blue winked at me, "Hey! You two! I thought you were making macarons, not babies!"

I snorted as her remark drove them apart and Red rolled his eyes, "Couldn't you give us a minute?"

"You had enough time." Blue waved her hand dismissively and then marched to the stack of coloured biscuits, taking three in her hand, "We finished with the case."

"Congratulations." Yellow murmured, biting into a macaron too, but probably out of embarrassment.

"What happened to Levin then?" Red asked, moving to get a glass of water.

"That's the funniest thing." Blue's eyes laughed as she nodded to me.

"Levin only disappeared because the moron had snuck onto a cruise on the S.S. Anne. They found him half a day ago, and he's stuck at Johto right now." I smirked and shook my head, "He had no idea he was about to be locked up for good."

"Well now we have to focus on Dabney."  Yellow passed me the plate with a grin.

"We" I gestured to the three of us and watched her glare at me, "you need to pass those exams."

"I'm sorry," Yellow smiled and took the plate of macarons away from me, "I forgot how senior you old people are."

"Hey, watch it! I had an exciting drinking experience." Blue poked a finger at her defensively.

"You were sobered by water to the face." Red pointed out sarcastically.

"Well, my boyfriend is an asshole." The brunette took another bite, staring at me in discontent as I patronisingly smiled back at her.

"Oy, I'm your asshole."
