Chapter 3 Tag

Rogers walked back into the station, covered in now dry paint still holding Kassidy's shoe in his hand. Weaver looked at him and held in a laugh.

"That was quite a break Rogers." He said. "What happened to you?"

"Cole." Rogers said and narrowed his eyes. "This was meant for you, in case you were wondering."

"Oh, I have no doubt about that." Weaver chuckled. "You see, I took Kassidy's skateboard just the other day. Kassidy doesn't like it when people take her things. So, I'd be returning that shoe if I were you."

"Not a bloody chance. She wants it, she can come get it." Rogers snapped.

"That's not going to happen."

"Oh. It will, because if she doesn't come get it by tomorrow afternoon, I am going to turn the heights upside down until I find her and I will drag her in here kicking and screaming and throw her in a holding cell where she belongs." Rogers said. Another officer chuckled.

"You poor soul. You don't know Kassidy." He muttered.

"Is everyone but me afraid of this girl?" Rogers asked.

"No one is afraid of her Rogers, We all just have better things to do with our time than chase around Kassidy Cole." Weaver said. "Christ, She's already drove you mad. Just give the girl her shoe back and let it go."

"No, What I am going to do now is I am going to go home, and take a shower and try to get all this bloody paint off of me." He said and waved Kassidy's shoe. "And I'm taking this with me. I'll be back if she comes looking for it tell her to wait and I will gladly bring it to her." Rogers said and walked out of the station.

Kassidy waited until it was safe to leave Roni's before she started making her way "Home." Detective Rogers was no where in sight. Now she was down a skateboard, and a shoe. She sighed and slipped her foot out of her other shoe so she wouldn't be walking uneven and turned the corner and bumped into Weaver. She grinned. He just gave her a look.

"Hey, at least you didn't get the paint. It was intended for you."

"Getting a little bold don't you think?" Weaver asked.

"I've always been bold. Got my skateboard?" She asked.

"No. You know that's not how this works." He said. Kassidy rolled her eyes.

"You're lucky its me you ran into and not Rogers or you'd be in handcuffs." Weaver said

"How is my new favorite Detective?" Kassidy asked.

"A little calmer after getting all the paint out of his hair, but still ready to throttle you." He said and looked down at Kassidy's bright purple socks.

"I know you're a stubborn one, but are you really going to walk around without shoes?" Weaver asked.

"Unless you can convince Detective Charming to give me back my glass slipper.. yes." Kassidy smirked.

"Nope, hes pretty adamant that you come and get it yourself." Weaver sighed.

"Yeah, that's not going to happen. I heard what he said to Roni, and I know exactly what he meant by throwing in a place to sleep for a night or three."

"You really think you're going to be able to avoid him for much longer? This man is not me. I let you get away with a lot that I shouldn't. You wont find that with him, Hes determined and hes digging around for information about you."

"So what did you tell him?" Kassidy asked.

"To stop looking, but He wont, and hes a damn good detective so if there is anything to be found, he will find it, just like he will find you." Weaver smiled.

"I think I can handle another partner of yours Weaver. Now, can I go home now?" She asked.

"Where is home tonight Kassidy?" Weaver asked.

"You know, wherever." Kassidy smiled.

"Don't you ever get tired of going place to place?" Weaver asked.

"It keeps things interesting Detective." She replied giving him a grin and walked away from him.

The next day

Kassidy lurked around the police station out of sight watching Detective Rogers pull up in his 1970 Chevelle she sighed.

"Nice ride Rogers, its a shame. You really should have just given me back the shoe." She said to herself ducking to the side of the building as he walked in the building. She smirked and shrugged her backpack off her shoulders and dug through it finding her burgundy lipstick before running over to the car and writing and doodling all over the windows of the car with her lipstick. Just the windows, she admired the car and wasn't about fuck up the paint.

"You realize Rogers is going to have a stroke, right?" Kassidy turned and smiled at Henry.

"Hey, Mills."

"Hey." He said. "Seriously though you are dead meat." He said. Kassidy smirked and finished up her work with a heart and her Initials on the windshield and turned back to Henry.

"So Lucy has been trying to figure out how to rig a bucket up to our front door. Thanks for that." Henry said. Kassidy laughed.

"The kid likes me, what can I say?" She asked and walked over to Henry. "You bring me breakfast too?" She asked looking at the box of donuts in his hands. Henry smiled and shook his head opening the box of donuts. Kassidy took the one with pink frosting and sprinkles.

"You going to tell Rogers?" She asked.

"You know I am." He said. "But I'll walk slow and give you a bit of a head start." Henry smiled and looked down.

"Where are your shoes?"

"Rogers has my left shoe, the right is in my backpack and I'd look like an idiot walking around with one shoe don't you think?"

"You are something else Cole." Henry said and shook his head.

"Thanks for the donut Mills." Kassidy grinned and walked around to the side of the building and climbed up the ladder to get to the roof. It was risky, but she wanted to see the look on Rogers face when he discovered her art work.

Rogers sat at his desk looking at the beat up red converse sneaker. Weaver walked in the room and sighed.

"You still haven't given that poor girl her shoe back?" He asked.

"That poor girl, dumped a bucket of paint on my head yesterday." Rogers said.

"It was a harmless prank Rogers."

"You mean to tell me, that if that bucket had fallen on your head yesterday you wouldn't have been the least bit angry?" Rogers asked.

"I would have been. But its just paint. Shes walking around with no shoes Rogers just give her the shoe, She'll apologize and you can move on with it."

"If you care so much about her, why is she living on the streets?" Rogers asked.

"Because she prefers it that way." Weaver shrugged. Henry walked in with the box of donuts and coffee.

"You've been tagged." Henry said.

"Tagged?" Rogers asked.

"Your car." Henry said. Rogers stood.

"My car??"

"I warned you, Rogers she doesn't like it when her things are taken." Weaver smirked and took a donut walking out of the room.

Rogers ran outside expecting the worst and was only slightly relieved to see that it was just the windows.

"Cole.. I swear to God." He muttered and looked at the wind sheild that said Catch Me If You Can sighed with a heart and K.C.

"You should have just given me back the shoe Detective." Kassidy said. Rogers looked up at Kassidy sitting on the edge of the roof swinging her legs back and forth smiling and chewing on a donut.

"Cole, Get down here. Now." Rogers growled.

"I want my shoe back." Kassidy said.

"This isn't a bloody negotiation! I was thinking about taking it easy on you for the bucket of paint you dropped on my head yesterday but this!" He said and pointed at the car. "This is too far."

"Its Lipstick, Rogers it washes off." Kassidy smiled. "That's too far? I'm just getting started."

"Alright, Come down or I'm coming up." Rogers said.

"I will come down for a chat, IF you give me my shoe." Kassidy said. "You did after all say that I had to come and get it, and Here I am."

"How did you know that's what I said?" Rogers asked and then sighed. "Right. Roni's.. Of course." He grumbled and walked back into the station and to his desk. He picked up the shoe. Weaver smiled at him.

"Not a bloody word Weaver." He snapped and walked back outside and tossed the shoe up to her.

"I knew you'd see things my way Detective." She smirked and put her shoe on lacing it up and then reaching into her backpack for the other one and putting it on.

"I gave you your shoe, now come down."

"I'm working on it." Kassidy said and stood she looked down weighing her options. She'd made the jump before it wasn't that big of a drop and it gave her more time to actually run. If she walked down the ladder, no doubt Rogers would be there waiting and ready with his handcuffs.

"You can't be seriously thinking of jumping." Rogers said. "You'll break your bloody neck!"

"Would that be concern in your tone Detective?" Kassidy asked and gave him a sly smirk.

"I may not be your biggest fan Cole, but I don't want to see you get hurt." Rogers said.

"Don't worry, I wont." She said and backed up a little before jumping.

"Bloody hell.." Rogers sighed as she planted her feet in front of him and grinned and tapped his shoulder.

"Tag. You're it." She said and took off.

"Impressive Cole." He muttered "I did say I like a challenge." He smirked and ran after her.
